Basically the $1 sign up deal in a different format i.e. $50 eBay gift card when pay $49 to subscribe.

  1. This offer entitles you to receive a $50 eBay digital gift card if you sign up to eBay Plus during the Promotion Period (‘Offer’).

        You don't even need to set a reminder.
        Join then cancel it, it will only terminate the auto payment and let it expire 1 year later.

        The same works for Amazon Prime, if you join prime then cancel it straight away, Although the "menu" for cancellation of membership implies that you lose it straight away, however it isn't the case, it will just cancel the auto renewal.

    Ok, clearing up when it says $39

    My invoice on eBay shows $48.99

    I think it's still a good deal considering the bonus $5 P/M and combined with the Coles 5% discount equals a neat 20% off a Coles order a month. $120 saving per year on Coles alone. I gather 5% discount on Coles is all eBay plus members, however the bonus $5 credit equals $60 a year bonus.

          Click on the banner, then there is nothing on sign up page, then after confirmation it will show a page that says gift card will be in your inbox soon.

    I saw the notification come up overnight on my phone. Woke up in the morning to sign up and it took me to the usual eBay Plus page. No mention of the gift card. Anyone got any ideas?

    How do I get this? Nothing in my emails either.

      It did that to me also. As long as you click through to that page via the offer link in the email, you will get a message once you've signed up that the $50 gift card is on the way.

      EDIT: Gah, just saw that you said that you didn't get an email. Check your junk folders?

    Ebay can kiss my arse. Once they started this plus nonsense, I just stopped using them when the initial trial ended. Amazon prime is a much better deal.

    It's unbelivable how faulty eBay promotion is, this will never happen with Amazon.
    I got the notification on my phone and click on it, it went through to eBay plus page, and no mentioning of $50 GC..Chat with eBay, they have no ideas and not helpful.

      I also got a phone notification, so logged in on my eBay and then clicked on the banner. No mention of gc but I assumed if I'm not targeted the banner shouldn't show on my page, so signed up. Called up eBay and was told that I'm not eligible so requested a cancellation which will take about 3 weeks. What a mess.

      Make sure you're eligible before you sign up, or wait weeks for a refund. Take screenshots too.

        I got an app notification, and a banner on the app and mobile site. I took a screenshot of the mobile site, but didn't get one of the notification. What was odd is that when I clicked on the banner, it took me to a page mentioning the trial, which isn't part of this deal, and I'm not eligible for it anyway because I've had eBay Plus before (that was at least mentioned on the next page). I checked the T&Cs before I signed up, and they don't say you need the email.

    Yeah it’s a mess I had the banner but was told if you don’t get an email you aren’t eligible?! Luckily I found it on a banner at the bottom of a Tuesday deals email. I’d suggest screencapping the banner before proceeding and then go through ACCC if they don’t honour it

      I had Ebay Plus trial before, and it worked fine for me.

      It's not reliant on whether you had it before, that just dictates whether you get the trial period before being charged.
      I didn't get the trial, but I definitely got the $50 voucher.

    Received a paypal Receipt email at 11:30pm 6 Nov
    It says payment went through at 4pm 6 Nov
    I login my netbank now, nothing deducted, no transaction record, same amount of money
    And I haven't received the gift card

    I signed up to eBay plus yesterday using the banner, which afterward said $50 gift card was coming in a few days.
    The offer I had was also for $39 instead of $49 signup.
    But this morning I was charged $48.99 by eBay marketplaces GmbH…
    Anyone in the same boat? How to dispute?

      Yes, likely because the banner and app notification apparently weren't meant to show up for me (I never got the email). I'm going to wait the 5 days then complain. They'll say I'm not eligible, and I can either argue it and demand the gift card because I meet the T&Cs and they need to get their s**t together, or I can demand a refund. Fun times ahead.

    I didn't get the email, I've been a trial member and cancelled in the past but the banner ad showed up for me on the Ebay Plus sign up page. I queried it with Ebay chat, who first of all told me I needed to have received the email, I replied so why is it advertising it to me on a banner and why doesn't it state that in the terms and conditions. They went away and checked and said that because the banner was showing for me, even though I didn't get the email, I would be eligible as long as I signed up to Ebay Plus by clicking through the banner. I did exactly that immediately and (screenshot everything as I was going through it, including the chat window and the banner ad) and it gave me a message that I'll receive it shortly (5 business days I think). The whole thing took 10 mins to sort out and sign up (total) so if you're not sure, I'd suggest doing what I did exactly. They'll have to honour it that way. I hope that helps.

When I click on the link which explains the deal on my ebay plus membership. It doesn't go anywhere.     Make sure you cancel your membership after spending your $50 voucher, and they'll offer you another $30 voucher (T's & C's).

    They will offer you another $30 voucher to stay on 1 year later. ie Once your anniversary comes and they debit you $49, they'll give you the $30 voucher (so -$1 for the first year, $19 for the second)… not bad.

        Yep, but you don't get the 2nd voucher until after the 1st year expires (to stop people cashing in $80 straight away). $18 for 2 years of eBay Plus is worth it I reckon.
