Basically the $1 sign up deal in a different format i.e. $50 eBay gift card when pay $49 to subscribe.

  1. This offer entitles you to receive a $50 eBay digital gift card if you sign up to eBay Plus during the Promotion Period (‘Offer’).

    I signed up on the 6th and called today about my Gift Card and was told that i didn't click through the link to get the offer when i signed up. Therefore i won't be getting the Gift Card.

    Refund not an option.

    Got rorted by eBay.

      Don't give up that easily Scootex. They would have been fully aware that they'd catch a few who didn't read the T&Cs but I expect they'll be reasonable if you ring them again. Tell them you saw the banner advertising a $50 GC for signing up but didn't look at the details. Ask to speak to a supervisor if you don't get satisfaction. People have received refunds when they accidentally forgot to enter codes and paid full price. Some customer assistants have no common sense, some don't have the authority to make decisions and provide refunds etc. GL

      I'm in the same boat, received the $50 gift card, but no sign of the first $5 one for this month. Got on ebay chat, completely useless, for the first 3/4 of the chat they denied that it was part of the offer, then I sent screenshot, and then they said there's no T&C for that offer yet, I pasted the T&C link into the chat, then they said they had to talk to marketing and would get back to me in 24-48 hours. How hard is this?

      Also discovered that the $5/mth can't be used on a Coles order. Now wondering what to buy, that was going to be an easy $50 a month. Anyway didn't matter because Coles ebay only for metro areas. Argh.

      1st person - Wait 5 business days
      2nd person - Wait until CoB today as today is the 5th day
      3rd person - Allegedly they have been swamped with subcriptions via the banner and they are still processing them all…wait until end of week…

        I signed up Wednesday 6th via a banner after getting a push notification. I didn't receive an email, and have had Plus before from the same deal last year. I contacted them via online chat yesterday. I was asked what the sign up button said ("Take up offer" or "Start free trial" - as if I remember). I wasn't told to "keep waiting", but instead that they will "make a report". There was no indication of how long said report will take to be actioned.

    Contacted eBay again and they told me to wait another 24hrs after already asking me to wait 5 days then 24 hours.
    Told them it wasn't good enough and asked them to issue the gift card. They said they would, but alas they did not.

    Very poor service for a paid subscription

    Has anyone actually managed to get the gift card after waiting the 5 business days?

    the customer support were only able to offer an ebay voucher, but those things expire soon and are one time use only and you cant use them with ebay discount codes.

                @King Steuart: Ah, yep you get a new one of those each month. The $5 code can only be used on Plus items though as I discovered after being short of $50 spend, took some time to find junk that might be useful then realised couldn't even use it.

                    @King Steuart: So your comment got me to test, the $5 applies to any Plus items in cart providing total is over $50, but not all items have to be Plus.

                    Also works like a gift card not discount code as I tested with a Plus item less than $5 so it discounted by that amount and left the remaining value for later use.

                    Pity I didn't realise before, thought needed $50+ of Plus. Good to know for next time I guess.

    I can see here that you wanted to have an update with the $50 gift card that you get once you've sign up directly to an annual eBay Plus membership.

    About the availability, supposedly you will be able receive the $50 gift card last week on the 13th but apparently our gift card team is having a technical issue for the past few days since they receive a huge load of issuance.

    Don't worry, checking here you are already on the list for the gift card issuance but as of the moment, we don't receive any update yet from our gift card team but rest assured that they are currently working/processing your gift card and you'll receive it soon.         It's been 13 days for me now. I have contacted them and 5 times now and they said they'd issue me a $10 voucher for having to wait so long.
        Alas, that $10 voucher also never arrived.

        I have all the chat history saved in emails in case they decide to renege on the deal.

        Still nothing, so I called and complained that I wanted to buy something today. They offered a $50 voucher in place of the gift card. I said it was my understanding that vouchers and gift cards are different, and that a voucher won't allow me to also use other discount codes. She asked what code I wanted to use, and what item I wanted to buy, and added the additional value onto the voucher. She issued a $110 voucher. The item I wanted was out of stock when I went to buy it, so I just bought $110 worth of eBay gift cards with the voucher, and now I'm $60 ahead.

            @edrift: $50 from the original gift card plus $60 that I would have saved buying the $549 item using the PAPP100 code.

            In hindsight, I might have been able to get a higher amount if I claimed I was going to buy a PITCH20 item over $300.

              First contact was rubbish… Said the same, i'll escalate and follow up etc etc.

              Second contact did mention it would be resolved end of week, but also followed up with the $50 voucher, but would not vary from that at all. Even after talking about the codes / vouchers, including the fact that the PITCH20 voucher ends soon. And that if I didn't get the card by the end of week I would lose out on the discounts…

    I had called Ebay Plus support and they said the Gift Card/Voucher was sent to "My Ebay - Messages" (log into Ebay then check your messages) in your account.

    I never received a personalised email from eBay advising me of the Gift Card was ready and according to the date it took them +1 day from sign up to process it.

        I signed up on the 11th Nov, quite early on when this promotion was running and it was only today (20/11) I called eBay support to ask when was I getting the voucher. After the explained to me how I was going to receive it they confirmed that the message was sitting in my account (Messages) and the date they originally sent the message was dated the 12th Nov.

        It should look something like this -

        If you haven't yet received it, ring them directly on 1800 322 928 they should be able to escalate and give you more info.
        In some cases as others have pointed out it took them 5+ days for them to get it.

    So random question for anyone who is using this promotion, I didn't check my eBay messages for a while and found this promotion. I clicked the link, and it all seems to still work (clicks through, says about getting 5% off coles, etc).
    Strangely though, a while ago I had a different promotion as well and I am wondering if I will stack.

    After I click "take up offer" for this promotion for the $50 eBay voucher, the next page says "To join eBay Plus, you need to provide a payment method. eBay Plus normally costs AU $49.00 per year, but by joining now, you'll pay just AU $39.00 for your first year. Your membership will be automatically renewed each year, unless you've cancelled it."

    So will I pay the $39 and get no voucher, has anyone else experienced this?

    I clicked on the link in my inbox to sign up for this offer, on 1 Dec, and I also received a notification saying that I would get my $50 code.

    But it never came.

    This is ebay's response:

    Hi Jason,

    This is a follow up email about the call we had earlier. I would like you to know that I've already received a reply from our gift card team and was advised that the $50 sign up promo was offered from 6-Nov up until 23-Nov. Thus when we joined last 1-Dec, the promo has already expired. I do apologise for that.

    Should you wish to keep your membership, your benefits include free shipping & returns on eBay Plus items, premium customer service, exclusive discounts, earn double flybuys point, and free delivery from Coles supermarket on orders over $49.
