    $1 better than SB offer.

  • So I assume if you took up the Cashrewards Catch Connect deal yesterday then we can get this one too?

    • +2

As long as new CATCH account (new email id) is created.

Can anyone suggest some use cases for all these extra free sims?

    • +1

i use these as portable wifi for my ipod.
also handy for new account sign-ups that verify phone numbers.
      selling on gumtree etc.

    • +3

If you have to think of a reason you may not need it, LOL.

      • Insert in pocket wifi modem, or hotspot your phone - to serve internet among multiple people/devices.
      • Internet radio when working in the garage (plug my phone into an amp & speakers).
      • Internet radio while riding a bike for exercise. (So I don't even notice the morons who slap their car door as they pass me thinking they've scared me.)
      • Internet radio in my car.
      • Or just internet - in the car - or anywhere (no longer tied to a house).
      • No need to use the awful Hungry Jacks/McDonalds/supermarket free wifi.
      • Kids/family/friends/tablets/etc. i.e. Each device gets its own internet connection eliminating lag, whining, arguments, etc.
      • Sell something/sign up for something. It's a temporary number. So a month later you're 'gone'.
      • I know others use the new numbers to get free food deliveries/trials.
  • Looks like this deal is on going and does not expire soon. So we do not have to rush to get it.

  • When's expire?

  • Is Catch connect one of the easy ones to cancel?

    • +1

yep. once activated, you just turn off auto-renew.

catch and amaysim are great for their easy cancellation.

      • +1

They just wait for people that forgot to cancel it in the end and auto renewed, which happened to be me once ;(

        • +2

i turn it off the moment i activate it.
and when i check my usage every day, i also check that auto-renew is still turned off

          • @tdw: How do you stop it using more than 40GB: does data just stop flowing when you reach 40GB, or are there excess charges?

      • +2

catch and amaysim are great for their easy cancellation.

Kogan too. Remove saved card from profile.

        • Don't trust that too much. I once also removed my saved card but got charged anyway. Wasted 1 week fighting between Kogan and my bank. Make sure you 100% turn off the auto renewal!

          • @Blue Cat: I kinda had that happen to me once but it really was because I forgot to turn off auto-renewal myself.

And in fact - I got refunded successfully and it wasn't hard. I think it was because I really had not used any of the renewed service.

Also just wanted to point out - removing the card automatically cancels auto renewal. However, cancelling auto renewal does not automatically remove the saved card.

        • How do you remove saved card from profile? I don't seem to see that option. Thanks.

          • @peuwayaqdq: Don't have access to a current Kogan SIM so can't login to confirm the exact process/wording, but it's something like "Saved Payment Methods".

On that page, there are 2 boxes. The top box is the saved card and the bottom box is the recurring payment. Under each box is a button, something like "remove saved card" and "stop auto renewal". Click "remove saved card" and because there'll be no more saved card, you're automatically stopping auto renewal because they then no longer have a card to debit from.

          • +1

@peuwayaqdq: you can't for catch connect.

  • Copped. Thanks OP. Happens to need a SIM Card for a visiting friend.

  • Has anyone tested limit of how late can we activate without losing cash back?

  • Just wondering how long will these CatchConnect Sim stay active (receving calls) without any recharge…

    Cheers.

    • +1

      from memory, i think it's 90 days.
someone feel free to correct me.

    • +2

      https://catchconnect.com.au/help/did-not-recharge

You then have 186 days after your plan expires to recharge before your service is permanently disconnected and you will lose your mobile service number.

      • Are we able to receive incoming SMS for 186 days after plan expires?

        • yes you can receive calls and texts during those 186 days

  • Does it stack with yesterday's targeted deal?

Good stuff, got a confirmation e-mail from Cashrewards saying the cashback tracked successfully about six minutes later.

    • -1

  • Thanks. Took exactly 5 minutes to track.

    Thanks OP, great deal

Excellent support- call answered immediately- Australian call centre.

  • Too late now with only 4 minutes left, but I just bought one, remembered I use 40GB every 2 or 3 weeks, so wondered if I could have bought two of these and received two cashbacks.
