Willow.tv - New Annual Plan $45USD (VPN Required)

70

Willow.tv has a new annual plan which is $45USD annually. Formerly they only had month by month options at $9.99USD per month. You will need a VPN for this to work.

Willow.TV allows you to stream most cricket matches. I love my cricket and hate the new TV Rights, I am not interested in forking out $25 per month for Kayo as I don't watch a lot of other sports, and well Foxtel isn't going to happen. So this is a great alternative giving me all I can consume cricket from around the world. But most importantly it gives all the BBL games, all the Australian International games etc.

I use Willow.tv streaming on my 55" TV Android TV and Xbox One (Apps available on App Store for both). I also use it on my android phone and my PC if required. I believe you can also use AppleTV maybe.

90 day free trial of Kayo still available https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/474189

  • Which country do you need to VPN too? Just the US?

I’ve had Kayo for 6 months now and it’s cost me about $5 in total.

Its not worth any money at all in my experience. It essentially did not work at all. Constant buffering and stuttering. Couldnt play at all at 1080p. Even at 240p I could not get it to stream anything smoothly. Stuff like Netflix or Youtube I can stream to TV at full res without a single problem, so it's not my connection.

Definitely something on your end. Me and a few mates use it without any issues whatsoever.

Don't think so. Foxtel just went cheap on their servers.

211 reviews, 170 of which are 1 star. Pretty much all of them complaining how slow it is. Whirlpool thread on Kayo filled with complaints too. Its just a shit service and you got lucky.

          • @Chris12345: I do think so. I get 1080 even in peak

    • @jv, I'm intrigued! Pray, tell more!

            @ashdays: It's all in the timing…

I also just saw that Telstra has another 3 months free Stan offer…

@jv: Telstra also have 3 months kayo free with gold rewards. Possibly silver rewards too.

                One month showing for Silver…

                • @jv: OK, thanks for the clarification.

  • Not sure why'd you'd buy a service to watch cricket being broadcast in the US. It inherently costs more than just paying for a service based out of India or Pakistan for the exact same thing.

        https://www.hotstar.com/in/subscribe/get-started

999 INR/yr (approx $20). VPN with Indian servers needed, for both sign up AND streaming

        • which vpn you use pls give info

        • How did you get the OTP code without an Indian number?

        • It seems you need an Indian mobile number to subscribe now. It wasn't the case when I subscribed few years ago. It works well with my life long getflix subscription.

        • I have tried a few Vpns to access hotstar, it is not working now. It was working till last week. I have tried PIA, express vpn and Ivacy. No dice.

          • @carlJack: Vpn unlimited. They have a specific hotstar server. Note: VPNU is owned by an US company

            • @D S N: NORD VPN - working fine and also you need to only get the VIP Hotstar plan for sports which is $8 / year.

              • @Maxdax: Nord definitely does not work with hotstar.

  • Do you need a VPN for streaming games as well or just for the signup process?

    • I use getflix DNS on router and it all streams well without VPN

      • How did you get the ANdroid TV app? It’s not showing on my Android TV Play store.
I side loaded the phone version but it doesn’t work (it opens up, but I nothing happens when clicking on a video).

I tried using chrome cast, but alas it doesn’t play either.

        • I have two Google accounts one registered in Australia one in the US. This gives access to apps not available to Australia. You can have both logged into the one device. Alternatively, you can download an APK and b side load.

In relation to getting it working are you using a VPN or a DNS server. I use either CyberGhost VPN which works great for Willow on my mobile. On my home router I use Getflix.
