  • Thank you OP..
At this price A great buy..
Now need to find a cheaper option for delivery..
    :)

  • anyone know what's the size of the packaging please? would it be 1200mm x 400mm?

    • also wanna know if i can fit them in my car as pickup.

    • From memory it's slightly bigger than that to allow for packaging. Should easily fit in a car.

    • It will fit in a car, i fit 2 units in the back of a Prado just laying across the floor with a fridge in there, cargo barrier in.

    • I bought 4 last week. They are half size - only about 700-800mm long. I fit two on my roof racks and two in the back seat.

      • Can't be the same unit. The shelves MDF panel and cross rails are one piece and 1200mm so it can't fit in a 800mm box. The 2 upright pieces are about 900mm each as well.

      • +1

Just saw boxes in person and they contain particle boards as the base of each shelf. They are at least 1200mm in length while width was about 400mm.

Didn’t measure them as I cancelled my order but they were longer than what you posted above, sorry.

    • +1

As an estimate, they're each about 125cm x 45cm x 10cm packed. Should fit on the back seat of most cars.

  • Yep. They class this as a bulky item. $79.95 for delivery.

  • I purchased them on Bathurst sale 2 for $148.99. When does their credit for cheaper price time frame last?

  • Are they good to chuck in the garage?

    • Yep. I bought 4 for my garage.

  • +2

bunnings has a similar sized unit for $45. I think it only does about 400kg weight all up, which is quite a lot in this small area. I was impressed at the quality for the price. I would definitely screw these to the wall in a few places for extra stability. https://www.bunnings.com.au/montgomery-1830-x-910-x-410mm-5-…

    • Which one would you recommend? The SCA or the Bunnings for the garage?

    • Same load rating by any chance? Can't see one listed on bunnings page?

    • +3

The Bunnings one is quite a bit smaller at 910 long vs 1200 for the SCA version.

I couldn't see a load rating on the site, but 400kg all up sounds a lot less than 350Kg per shelf?

The closest I could find at Bunnings is this one ($109)

      https://www.bunnings.com.au/pinnacle-1830-x-1200-x-410mm-5-t…

But it has a 200Kg per shelf limit rather than 350Kg

  • I wanted to buy shelves for my super unorganised garage and this deal was posted. Thanks OP. Got a pair this morning. Now the hard bit of putting things up on it once I assemble.

  • Significantly OVERpriced even after the discount. Please check Bunnings and dedicated shelf stores.

    • +1

If you're after lightweight shelves, you can get a slightly smaller shelf with a 150kg shelf rating for $45 from bunnings. I don't know of any cheaper shelves that can take 350kg of weight per shelf, but TBH I don't know of any dedicated shelf stores either.

      • Is it 150kg total or each shelf?

        • Bunnings ones are 150kg per shelf, the SCA ones are 350kg per shelf. Depending on use the bunnings ones should be fine. I'm storing car parts on mine, so I want that extra weight.

  • Good price. However, delivery charge is a deal breaker for me. No stock to pickup but if I changed quantity to 1, guess what all stores have stock! So looks like they only have 1 in stock at each store.

    • +1

They do free delivery (metro only I think) if the order is above 150. You can add $30 worth stuff to the cart to get it.

  • +1

Not heavy duty enough for me.

  • +2

rather get some of this stuff:
    https://www.rackings.com.au/shelving
    …for those sort of dollars

    • Yes, Supercheap shelvings are rubbish.

    • +1

thanks franco cozzo, was looking for the alternatives after the discussion here…

      • i have 2x units partitioning my garage…floor to ceiling storage. its awesome stuff for the money

  • +4

Trash. Inflated RRP. Normally $75 each.

Fiberboard shelves and poor webpage description. These are 350kg total not per shelf. There's a reason they are on clearance and not a good reason.

    • -2

Wrong item code (this deal is Item No. 558609 vs your google webcache Item No. 214473)

Also, Item No. 558609 clearly shows:
      Maximum capacity: 350kg per shelf

      • +1

        Actually, brenwildman may be right.

Both products are showing 350kg per shelf as a feature. They may have changed the product code to make the discount effective!

        • +2

I ordered some last night (c&c) and went to pick them up a few hours ago.
Post the comment above I had a closer look at a similar one that was opened and I honestly cannot believe it to be able to hold 350 per shelf.

The box itself clearly shows a picture with a 350kg weight on a single shelf, but the matter of fact is that the shelves themselves are solely metal with a 12 mm particleboard as the base of each shelf itself.

The metal side brackets are not very thick and do not appear to be able to hold 1.5t plus in total.

I didn’t buy them in the end and cancelled my order.

Will wait for the bunnings one to go on sale

Thanks for posting OP nevertheless :)

    • +1

Going by the looks of the shelves they look very very similar to each other! Something is fishy.

  • +2

350kg per shelf just seems TGTBT. 4 shelves mean 1400kg on the unit. My car is about that. Don't think I'd be able to put that much weight on it.

    • lol that's not how it works, each shelf has a rating… your analogy is terrible.

      • Then help me understand mate rather than only lol'ing. Also, how would you rate your own elaborate explanation of "each shelf has a rating"?

    • +1

      Your maths is out 5 x 350kg = 1750kg
It would probably hold this if that's what they claim, but give it a sideways push with that much on it and i'm sure it would all come crashing down :) .
I reckon you'd be going pretty well to fit 350kg of gear on each shelf, unless you were storing stacked gold ingots. In which case you wouldn't even be looking at this site anyway :) .

      • Well my math is OK I guess - I just multiplied 350 by 4 :). About sideways push, that's exactly what I was thinking. 1750kg is a helluva lot of weight. Those four legs don't look strong enough for even half of that. I wonder what system they use to "rate" these. They probably stack weight till they break and that would be the rating I guess.

  • Considering the weight difference between the products at SCA and Bunnings, the SCA ones must have big differences to hold it; like a centre support bar per shelf or thicker gauge frame (I do notice the cheap Bunnings ones have thinner frames than older model ones).

  • +2

The shelves are simply 10mm thick particle board and I would not trust them to hold myself for prolonged periods as they started to flex when I stood on them. Can confirm I am 350 KG +/-

  • no stock in canberra. $70 for postage :(

  • Thanks OP! Ordered online to click and collect in Mentone, got a call a little later saying that they were out of stock and it was a system error. They wanted me to drive down to get a refund which I thought was pretty unfair.

I spoke to the nice lady stating that they should either cancel the transaction and refund my money without me travelling or alternatively post it to me from Frankston which seems to be the only place around Melbourne with stock.

Now awaiting the courier to pick up the two shelving units to be delivered to me…for free!

    What a great deal!

  • +1

Even if remotely possible, I wouldn't be trusting this to hold 25 cartons of booze on EACH shelf.

  • If your one of the big Boyz with big toys these shelves won't be sturdy enough. I don't buy any shelves unless they can hold a 1 tone min.

  • +1

I've got 4 of the Bunnings one that's been linked above. Got them for $40 2 years ago. I don't see how the rating of 150kg per shelf is true. Got a few of the shelves with slight bowing with just basic tools (including power tools), engine oil, etc on them which would be no where near 150kg in total :/

  • Extremely happy with mine, very sturdy and simple to put together. Have 4wd and camping gear on mine, like recovery gear, compressor, cargo box, fold up chairs, stove etc. Plenty strong enough and they look a lot better then some of the cheaper flimsy shelves. Wish they had the same sort of deal for the smaller ones.

    • Yeeeer but they can't hold 1000 kg

  • i had these before, just one tho. the rating does seem bit odd but they are not sturdy at all, the shelf splits in 2 and mine couldn't be stacked as tall as the picture due to poor (dodgey) built connectors etc.
if you split them and not stack them then they are great shelf for the garage but i wouldn't put anything heavy at all.

  • lol people arguing about the 350kg weight limit, what are you planning to place on these said shelves? find me something in that size in your household that you can put into that rectagular space which weighs close to 350kg.

in reaility most of you wont put more than a couple hundred kg

  • I got these from SCA yesterday and assembled one of them for the garage. I think the quality is very good. I put some packets of leftover laminate flooring on the bottom shelf and it took all that weight without any trouble. The shelf is rock-solid. I might still find a wall stud and fix it to the wall to prevent tipping. The quality of both the side and vertical rails looks very good. I am very happy with the purchase.
