Kia Seltos, Has Anyone Bought One?

Hey Guys,
i'm considering buying a Kia Seltos, has anyone bought one and what do they think of it. Also What price were they able to negotiate for it?

Looks like many getting quoted RRP, certainly no massive discounts mentioned.

Also $42k for top of the range… wtf

$42k will get you a Toyota Rav4 Hybrid easy.Kia is getting very ambitious.

Yeah that was a major comparison in the WP thread. People found the price and said it was RAV4 Hybrid territory. That's mid-range, GXL RAV4 Hybrid pricing!

    • Was thinking the samething. A lot to pay for the top of the range that can compare to a toyota or even a Mazda

    • Top model Sportage is 52k so not very surprising. The sweet spot in the range is the Seltos Sport+ 2.0l at 32,990. I'm not sure what market they're trying to target with the performance oriented GT-Line turbo with DCT - that seems kind of ridiculous in a FWD run of the mill SUV.

      • Even on that they've cheapened out compared to the competition. $32,990 gets halogen headlights & drls, no rear aircon vents etc

        • Not too dissimilar in equipment to the base CH-R which is in the same size segment. Hopefully in future it will get a price adjustment to match the 30,990 price of the CH-R. For now all you get for your extra 2k in the Seltos compared to the CH-R is some leather on the sides of the seats and two years of extra warranty.

          • @justaperson: Even a standard CHR has led drl and fog lights

@spackbace: I forgot about the base CH-R having DRLs. It's disappointing in the Seltos considering they'd be so cheap to add in production.

  • There's a whirlpool thread that might be helpful:

TLDR: No budge on RRP but someone has had extras thrown in
"paint/leather protection, bonnet protector, dashmat, floor mats, weathershields and front window tinting"

Considering this as well, most likely the Sports pack.
The videos and Reviews online are the GT pack which is out of my budget and for that much I would consider another vehicle.

    Cons seem to be:
    No Rear air vents
    Very plastic like inside

Minor: Day time lights are not LED

Might hold out for the Mazda CX-30

Minor: Day time lights are not LED

Was interested in this comment. I’d assumed all DRL were led in new cars. The spec indicates only the top model has LED DRL, no others get DRL, just auto headlights.

If you are thinking of going top spec then do compare to the Peugeot 3008 (in GT-Line/GT spec), a far nicer car for the money IMO. 42k for a top line Kia is a joke.

    • why is it a joke? purely because it's a kia?

    • Peugeot 3008

      lol

  • Also check the previous discussions here on the same car:

    • Hey thanks, i had a look and all of it is just discussion about the prospect of the car or the mention of the website price.

  • Went down to the dealership yesterday and took both the 2.0L sports plus and 1.6l Turbo Gt-Line for a ride. Didn't notice much difference between the two cars performance and comfort because the ride was real short. However, they did not budge on the listed prices of $32,990 and $41,990 respectively. Has anyone had any luck with the cars yet?

    • Hey, got offered $30,500 with my trade in (first they offered me $1000 for my trade in) plus some accessories, slim line number plates. Turned them down and waiting for them to call back tomorrow :) This is for the Sports +. What colour are you getting? All the coulours are really nice! We are going with gravity grey, as I think I'll get sick of the mars orange after a few years. The white really pops though too! It's an awesome car.

      • This also included the paint price.

        • Finally someone actually thinking of buying the car. So the options im looking at is either the sports plus 2.0l or GT-line 1.6l in cherry black. So it was an extra $520 for the change of paint, the dealer called today and i asked for a better and price and he said no. I could do a trade in, but i have nothing to trade in and i could do accessories but i disliked any of the options. But yeh he was not budging on the price at all. Also r u worried about it being a 2019 model and than next year they will cut like $3,000 of the price for being an older model?

          • @Christy Bambi: The quote I got was for a MY20, so I wasn't aware that it's a 2019 model? Maybe they will have some sort of discount if we wait a few weeks during EOFY sale, but i'm not holding my breath.
There's another thread on whirlpool https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/3kk6znx3

            • @Chat00: Thanks Chat, i'll have a read. I was hoping the top spec model was going to be less than $40,000 considering the top spec model in India is only $34,500 vs $41,900 price in Australia. But somehow the priced is excessively higher than the price in India. Also the dealer i dealt with seemed to be a slimy about the whole process of getting the car, the actual cost and when the deliver date would be expected. I asked him to email me the finance agreement so i could read it properly and he still hasn't done that, but had the nerve to call me and see if i wanted to place a deposit on the car.

              • @Christy Bambi: Note that the Seltos is built in India and Korea. So in India they get the Indian built model. We get the Korean built model which i would take any day of the week.

      • So called them up, said we could do $29,990, they said sorry that car is sold now, so we'll have to get another one in stock and the price has increased to $31,000! Such crap!
