Opinion:
I have had the Umidigi F1 for a number of months now. I have had zero problems with it - it has been a near perfect phone. The camera quality of the standard F1 is nowhere near flagship Samsung/iPhone/Huawei level, but it's passable. In every other way it performs perfectly. I expect that this slightly upgraded F2 will be similar but slightly better.

  • How do these hold up compared to the Samsung A series nowadays given the lower end ones rival this price.

    • Sammy A20 is roughly 75% compare to this one on performance
Sammy A30 is roughly 85% to this one

MTK chip flop on their OS support, hardly any or mostly no upgrade at all.

      • Both A20 & A30 have AMOLED screen though. A20 is 720p so that's the downfall, but A30 has better bang for buck display for media consumption (AMOLED FHD).

I've had 3 phones that used MTK SoC:
Redmi Note 2 - absolute crappy battery life within a couple of months, (~12 hours per charge if lucky)
Homtom H16 (made by Doogee) - after 1 year it wouldn't turn on
Umidigi A3 - within 5 months it wouldn't turn on

I told myself after the RN2 I'd never get another MTK based phone but both other times I needed something cheap with Dual SIM - both were MTK based, both died.

Conversely, all my other phones, (Huawei (4 of), Samsung (1 of), Motorola (1 of)), with Qualcomm SoC have never failed to work even after sitting around in a drawer for 3 or 4 years.

Of course this is a YMMV tale but I've had a 100% failure rate with MTK, just not worth taking the chance anymore.

  • It says pre order… when is shipping?

    • Cashback + (I had a popup for 50% shipping discount but it's gone and not reappearing)
    • 'Processing time:Expected on December 10, 2019'.
      6-13 business day delivery.

  • I was considering buying this one and would have if it had been out at the time.
Instead I got a Mate 20 Pro (with a small crack in the screen) for virtually the same price ($300).

Any reviews on this phone yet? How are the cameras and the battery?

If you want battery, wait for Umidigi Power 3 which has 6150mAh battery for similar price. They both have same 48MP Camera sensor and P70 so expect them to be so similar in terms of performance and camera.

Umidigi F1 play is rootable and has XDA forum support for installing ROMs.

    Video: 1080p@30fps

Edit: damn I hate unboxing videos, no one wants to see you open a box, just show me the phone.

The price in title does not have GST included, so the price I got was around $325 AUD

This is a "preorder". Banggood are shipping these around 10 December.
It appears some AliExpress sales will have these around $180 USD on 11 Nov.

I think it is the same for AliExpress, it's pre-sale only. Seems like a 30 day wait, and the delivery will take longer.
