I got one of these from Sony, very happy with the sound quality use it almost every day on wifi with spotify

  • Same here. I use it as a sound bar in the bedroom which I also cast music to. It's perfect.

  • Great speaker with HDMI. I use it as a sound bar for the tv and Xbox. Got mine for $199 almost three years ago

  • Built in ChromeCast is what makes these speakers desirable.

    • Nice. Is it Chromecast Audio via Google Assistant?

      • I don't think the speaker has Google Assistant. You need to use another device to cast.

I like is a wired ethernet connection, providing the option to keep streaming off wireless.
The ability to play songs from USB is also nice.

  • Use one as a sound bar as well. Great speaker, gets switched on via ARC 90% of the time when I switch on the TV, not sure why it sometimes fails. On the Chromecast comment, that’s for audio only, don’t expect it to be a full Chromecast video solution (you’d still need a stick for that if your smart TV isn’t Chromecast ready).

  • how is it compared to a google home max? I know around double the price when on sale though.

  • Can vouch for sound quality and yes arc connection can be a problem time to time but not very often. Tempted to get another one for this price. Thanks ops.

    • Tempted to get another one to build semi surround sound. Is it worth it? On my next TV I'll probably get a proper soundbar. I suppose getting another Sony soundbar with the same wifi system allows 1 soundbar in the front and 2 of these on the back?

I read some reviews saying that this setup was problematic. Apparently the SRS-ZR7’s volume is limited when using this way (wireless), and the sound-bar gets much louder, so the volume is too low on the rear (SRS-ZR7) speakers & can so the sound barely be heard.

  • these or the edifiers?

??? do they mean the ZR7?

    • i believe the zr5 is another bookshelf style speaker that is sold individually

  • Here is a blown up cross-section.
