Version 2 - sticking key problems fixed

      • +2

Not fixed, anything below 2018 doesn’t have dust protector under the keyboard

      • my issue isnt Sticking Keys on my 2019 MBP…it's the rank keyboard in general. my 2011 MBP keyboard was peak tbh.

Jeez, a 2017 laptop for $1300. Definitely would not smash.

  • How much is it normally?

    • +1

From memory something like $1999 for the 256GB version.
At that price they couldn't compete with the new MacBook Air so Apple decided to discontinue this model. I think at this clearance price it is a much better deal than a MacBook Air but that's just my opinion.

  • +3

Don't forget this model just has only one usb type c port.

  • The macbook is discontinued

    2years old? Where's the bargain?

    • It's at a clearance price

    • +1

      it's apple

      runs

  • 2017? Did I just took the Time Machine? What year is now? Hm…confused :(

    • +1

That's just the model designation when the MacBook 12 was last updated, this model was discontinued in June 2019

    Price match with…

    Oh sorry as you were.

Performance isn't going to blow you away but I bought one of these for my wife's birthday a couple of years back when it was refreshed and it's a great little laptop. It's fast enough for her web browsing needs, super portable/light, charges over USB C so we can use an Anker multiport charger when travelling (same as my GPD win 2) and it feels pretty solid.

I think it suits certain people/use cases… it reminds me of my old 11" Macbook Air which I used in uni which was a great size, light, portable, etc… (although it was also the last 'affordable' Macbook I can recall).

    • +2

Chromebook would probably fulfill the same needs at a lower price these days.

      • +1

Probably true. I think she liked the form factor/build of the Macbook and I know there are some premium Chromebooks out there at premium prices, but the cheaper ones feel… cheap.

      • i own windows 10 PCs and a macbook air, had chrome book but sold it, was very limited in application support, and didn’t run microsoft office which i wanted compatibility with for work.

  • +3

my 2016 model going strong. super light, super sturdy, feels great to use for most things. gets a little cramped for productivity with the tiny screen, but ive done heaps of work on it. feels quick, keyboard is pretty nice to type on and has been good with the very odd blow out with compressed air.

great little machines, dont understand why they got discontinued for the air, which is a fat bastard compared to this tiny thing.
but not cheap. worth it if you travel a lot and want something good and portable. otherwise they are still awesome secondary pcs, or for people who just need something basic, but then you could grab a used one for half the price.

    • I have a 2017 512GB version, and I carry around all day with another ipad pro 11 function as my portable dual screen setup. Absolutely love it. However, never typed as well on the butterflies than my older macbook air, and yearned for second usb c, T2 and finger print… basically like the new air with smaller size.

  • +1

i went with the 2019 macbook air …..waited until JB did 10% off and then get an extra 5% off at office works on price match.

  • So is this in between a Macbook Pro and Air?

    • No, this is the lightest MacBook ever, Air is a big fat boy comparing to this one

Every Apple post there's someone who negs because they think their products suck.

Can you all keep your opinions to yourself?

    • +1

Why not. This is an open forum,….and as long as your respectful and not abusive, people are free to share opinions and even vote according to their wishes. I'm not so much into apple, but enjoy reading these posts for the comments lol.

BTW I did not neg your comment.

You can just read and move on.

      • Yeah that's fair enough. I understand your POV. But some people here can't seem to grasp that people solely buy Apple products and can't stand products outside that ecosystem.

        • Don't take it too seriously, it only stuff and peoples image and perception. At the end of the day, all computers are just tools and items of personal entertainment, should not be a reflection of who We Are as a Human Being.

At the end of the day, whether we use Apple, Windows, Linux or Chromebook, tablets or phones it comes down to what we can afford and personal preferences.

  • Hrrrrrm, this or an XPS13?

    • If you aren't into apple ecosystem or need apps that are on a Mac or work, PC is more mainstream, I own both.

      • +1

        I inherited a 2014 MacBook Air.

Slapped windows on it, besides the screen being a bit crap resolution wise, it’s a good little unit.

I wonder if this is comparable.

        • +1

Windows will run fine..and should run faster as well.

  • +1

It is still classified but apparently Apple is planning to offer quad core on their basic models by 2025. For 9th and 10th generation intel we'll need to wait a bit longer.

  • +1

I own 2015 m3 version and is a great laptop. there are many views but if you have never used it or travel with it you will not understand how comfortable is to use.
I think is a good price. and if your keyboard becomes faulty you can get it fixed for free.
the resell values are also great…

  • this model is designed to be used with your time machine and time capsule.
it's all in the fine print.
    you're welcome
