I remember paying more than this per disc.

    • +1

      $10 each at one stage!

      • +1

I remember $10 each per 3.5" floppy disk! In 1986 dollars!

    • +2

Yep, gold Kodak's more than this

      Ah the memories :)

      • +4

        Gold Kodak is good.
There are also Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim.

        • Good memories. I saved my Kodak gold for writing audio at 1x in my mum’s car which was surprisingly picky at reading discs.

        • +1

I used to buy 400 TY silvers at a time, to get the right price. Cheaper than duds from MSY.

Strange coincidence, finding an OLD stack on Monday arvo.

    • +3

Yep. I used to queue at north Rocks computer market on a Sunday to try and get them for $1 a disc.

      • +3

Ah.. I remember North Rocks computer market. Insane how many geeks in one place!
That was before MSY Auburn came out. Started lining up there instead….

      • Fast Eddie? :p

      • +3

I now live in Canberra… but damn that computer market was great!
So many bargains and yet so many rip offs, all in one spot :).

        • I did visit the "market" which moved a few times and is now at the Muirfield High school (or at least it was when I went maybe 5 years ago?) and it's nowhere near as fun/exciting as it used to be. Maybe with MSY/Umart/Scorptec and OzBargain, there's little need to go to these types of markets especially when the pricing isn't even that competitive and you just know any returns/exchanges will not go smoothly.

Nostalgia burning mp3s back in the early 2000's. Haven't used a disc in a while.

    • +1

      Audio grabber at 56kbs 😉

Early 2000's.. had to fill that 10gb HDD with something.

    • +5

Two days to download a movie, those were the days. Well four if it took 2 CDs :P

      • +3

Download a movie? Would have to sacrifice my neopets data allowance.

  • Oh well.. i dont have cd/dvd burner anymore…

    • +1

I can sell you one for $10. LOL

  • Yay perfect for my mix tape!

    • +13

A real mix tape is cassette, with dedicated hours spent waiting for those songs on the radio to play, ever ready to hit the record button…

And that is the answer to what we did without the internet

      • +6

Yep, did that too, and the DJ spoke over the track, which was damned annoying. And you had to rewind and quickly pause the tape to try to cut at the right spot

And you'd be so annoyed if the tape got flicked over the other side

        • +4

Hahahaha… looking at the end of the tape hoping and praying there would be enough till the end of the song :).

God it felt good when the song finished and 3 seconds later the tape stopped!

          The jingle… "American Top 40!!!!".

I loved growing up in the 80's :).

          • @UFO: Haha was going to add the 'top 40' jingle to my reference

      • -8

A real mixtape is also continuous music with seamless merging of tracks. Otherwise it's just a compilation.

        • haha ignorance is bliss, eh?
The term 'mix tape' originated from DJs and rappers that recorded (taped) their mixes.
Simply recording songs onto a cassette is making a compilation - where is the mix? The term has entered vocabulary to mean any old home-made compilation on any medium because it sounds snappier, (much as HD for 720p or calling an mp3 player an iPod), but a proper mix tape is mixed.

    What is this?

  • -3

    Wtf are them things :-)

    • +6

You hang them from trees to scare away birds I think.
Also required in bulk for any would be microwave YouTube channel.

      • +1

Literally what my mum does with our old CDs to protect her plants

      • Do pigeon actually get put off by this?
I've got pigeons on the balcony problem.

        • I use VHS tape strung out in my vegie garden to keep the birds away, it works great!

    • Drink coasters

for the built in coffee cup holder!

    • Snap them in your friend's room, and grab popcorn to watch him fail at picking up the film.

  • Wish I'd seen this earlier.

      Like 15 years ago earlier?

    • Lol good one

  • These would have been great 10 years ago..

    • They still are!

Obi Wan voice: Now that's a product I've not heard in a long time. A long time.

  • +4

Should I carry 50 of these CD-R or one 32GB micro SD card? Hmmm, decision, decision.

    • I guess that depends on what media your car stereo will work with. If it takes SD cards or you can connect via Bluetooth then the latter. If it just has an old CD player then the former. If it has a tape deck then neither.

      • +3

        It's just a rhetorical question mate :)

        • Don't have to rewind an SD card.

  • +2

The memories of burning hundreds of these….which are now sadly in landfill somewhere. Back then data and storage was pricey. Easier times now.

    • +1

Yeah i was burning music and movies on them. Fun times. Now is collecting dust In my storage boxes.

  • perfect for giant DIY disco ball

  • Printable too! Sadly,

Home delivery is not available for this product.

    • Home delivery available for DVD-R.

    • "Printable"
Good to know, the last load I bought got jammed in my printer.

  • +2

Still remember the day my verbatim blues stuck to the plastic sleeves in my cd case and the coating peeled off when I tried to remove them…. the horror…. the horror

  • Sweet memories

  • I just ordered home delivery no problems.

    • The deliver homes?

  • holds no more than a fingernail sized sd card

    • +1

SD and MicroSD cards are absolutely useless for listening to music on an in-car CD player.

I know because I tried it, and the eject button doesn't work either.

  • +3

I'm good… still got most of a spindle of Taiyo Yuden's from 15 years ago hahaha.

  • Anyone have a spare limewire pro licence key?

  • Could possibly apply the 10% off store wide tomorrow as well - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/493576

I ran out of CDR last week. I still make mix tapes and mp3 CDs for the car so this is great timing. Thanks.

    • I do that with actual tapes and the other day my player's head went on me or something and shit sounds high pitch aaaand slow pace. Send help.

  • Just got refunded as they were out of stock.

    • Worth a look in store if clise by as my online order reduced, but plenty of Dvdr in South Yarra store last night on shelf. Go figure.

    • Had both a click and collect and a shipped order canceled because of no stock. :/

  • What is this brand like? Back in the day there were a lot of brands and quite a few of them were very low quality in terms of how long they lasted and what drives they worked in.

    • +1

      Average quality

  • I received my order and have burnt a few disks at 12 & 16 speed and have had no problems.
