Finally a more realistic price from Xiaomi. To think they tried $1399 at release and then $1119!

  • How does the camera on this compare with the top huawei's

Out of the box - nowhere near. Get a GCam APK and it's rather special (based on personal experience with Mix 2S and 9T Pro).

Quite competitive, though a smidge slower on the instant take on default settings.
They've done a lot with the camera since the mix 2s and… Mi6? Mi-8 onwards has been pretty good.

$599.20 with code "PSLEIGH" at Offical Xiaomi eBay store.

  • I feel like I missed something… I didn't realise Xiaomi was officially sold/distributed in Australia??!

Reading the description, it proclaims 5G network support as the flagship feature… but then reading the detail below makes this claim sound a little suspicious despite being the first bullet point listed:

5G Network Pioneer 2Gbps+ Downlink Speed
As Xiaomi's premium flagship, Mi MIX 3 5G has the most advanced 5G technology. Xiaomi is one of the first companies to put a 5G smartphone into the hands of consumers to truly experience.

*5G function will be available via OTA update. Update times depend on your specific carrier and network.

Mi MIX 3 5G network support is in the process of being rolled out by leading telecom operators.
With the Mi MIX 3 5G and a 5G plan, you will be able to connect to the 5G network wherever coverage is supported. If 5G isn't available in your area, your Mi MIX 3 5G can still connect to 4G, 3G or 2G in that area-depending on the signal that's available and reconnect to 5G whenever and wherever it is available. To find out whether 5G is supported in your area, visit your telecom operator's website for updates and announcements.

*In the future, 5G coverage will be available in most regions and provided by most telecom operators.
We will consistently update our website to list all telecom operators who support 5G coverage.
You can consult the telecom operators directly for more information about 5G network availability.

… so, does it work on Telstra 5G? (ie the telco which JB Hifi resells for?)

You did. Xiaomi have a company called Panmi who are officially selling and representing them in Australia. They even have a showroom in Chippendale.

      • That's cool. I've been a big fan of Xiaomi after living in Singapore where it was quite common/distributed in many stores including large chains so am glad to see it's finally made it to Australia.

        • The downside is that it has the Aussie tax on a lot of the products. Though it seems they've picked up that they'll get no sales doing it that way.

why would on buy this when 9t pro can be had for just $550

    • that's it. to be honest, it's only got to this price locally because all SD855 phones are getting price drops because of the Asian brands just coming out with SD855+.

also because smaller battery and no ultrawide camera. tech is depreciating fast.

    • It supports 5G… that's the main reason, even though it's useless in the next three years maybe.

  • Do JB still do the gift card with $45 plans?

  • Do any of you know if WiFi calling works with the xiaomi mi mix3 5g in Australia?
If yes please let me know.
