What Is Current Best NBN Deal?

superloop or Belong

I am looking to change my NBN provider.

Many thanks

  • By "Best" are you seeking price, quality or both?

    • maybe a little bit both. download speed is not very important. My current NBN is 25M, it is already good enough for me. And I don't play an online game. Only watch videos and moves online

      • Aussie Broadband for both

The extra $10 a month is well worth it. Superloop will probably die like the other RSP budget brands have recently. Belong will near definitely have slowdowns during peak times. ABB actually stop selling plans on POI that are near capacity compared to others.

  • +1

So far (knock on wood) I am having no issues with Belong.

I was on the 25Mbps plan with Aussie Broadband and would sometimes experience some buffering but have not experienced it with the Belong plan linked.

    • thanks for your feedback

    • You don't have issue with belong? This is my story.
Today at 10:30 I tried internet banking but it was loading forever. I gave up. Last night I could't watch Youtube as the internet speed was too slow. Even I cannot test its speed as it is loading forever too. One day it was so slow and I rang to Belong if they have any issue in my area. They said no. Now I just finish the speed test and it is 10.3 download and 0.9 upload. I am looking for better ISP.

PS: When the speed is so slow I do the internet speed test. Then the speed is improved. I had many times of this. Is it coincident?

      • I think it's oversubscribed now due to how many people have joined from Ozbargain.

It's pretty much a lottery. Since it's on average 30mbps. There could be a lot of people at the lower end pulling down those figures. It also could be that those figures are no longer updated. Maybe we need to go to TIO or ACCC to get them to update the figures more regularly. To be honest, I think every RSP should be updating it at least every 3 months at a minimum because at that point in time the amount of customers onboarded and the CVC purchased may have changed. It should be compulsory and a condition of resale of NBN services. I hope a government body decides to step in at some point in time. Otherwise it's just misleading and deceptive conduct.

I doubt they are able to make money when CVC costs $8/mbps. If you look at the numbers you will know there is a possibility that Belong is inflating their usability. Possibly using guerilla marketing tactics when online.

      • 10.3/0.9 sounds like you're on a 12/1 NBN speed. Are you sure you're on the current starter plan?

        • Even its not the starter plan. I am in the standard plan.

    • Probably more of a PSA, but Belong is now starting to use CGNAT in selected areas. Apparently NSW?

This could affect gaming and overall usability. I guess there was a catch afterall for $55 a month.

  • I reckon vodafone is pretty good. At the moment it is 100Mbps for 69 per month unlimited data. I have my mobile and my wifes with voda too (for the 5 buck roaming). Get an extra 5% off all three plans which effectively brings it down to $60 per month

    • thanks, but it is $69 for first 6 months

      • You can change it to 50/20 after 6 months for $69. Thats what I did, pretty happy with vodafone so far

  • Just got my $55 Belong Starter plan up and running. Delivering 47/18 with unlimited data and a public IPv4 address. Happy days!
