where possible I always try to use 28 degrees, im sure there are other options for credit card based price protections though. I typically try to search ozbargain and price hipster first to check out historical best prices so i can gauge when to buy.
Yeah my purchase was a bit time sensitive as well, I just bought the body from the sony store and was waiting on a lens, going overseas soon so TRS will make up the difference :P

I have a SEL2470GM already but only because this wasn't available at the time. The Tamron is so much cheaper and almost equivalent I think.

I bought this for 1050 from ebay camera house. It nails the focus every single time. Love it. But just miss 24mm a little bit. Low light is also awesome. This is my travel lens now.

I bought it for about the same price off Ebay during the psleigh sale. Great price. Kicking myself now because I have the Amex deal and could've saved $50 more. Oh well. Can't always win.
to be fair, it is a pretty good price as is for a very versatile lens. If you ever go to resell it, you should be able to get pretty close to what you paid for it anyway.

Question for current owners of this lens: the zoom ring seems quite far forward — does this affect handling at all?
Nope but the slightly infuriating thing is that, I can't get used to the zoom and focus ring in the wrong order.
