Panasonic SC-GA10 Smart Speaker with Google Assistant (White / Black) $99 @ JB Hi-Fi In-Store

120

Still seems to be a few in-store from previous clearances.

Showing in-store stock for many stores in Sydney.
Recommend you double check by calling ahead.

These can connect as a stereo pair and I imagine they would sound much better that way, so consider getting two (of the same colour).

Notes: As one commenter has mentioned, these will add significant delay to the audio when using to watch video (TV or PC). They are designed first and foremost as “smart-speakers” with the ability to stream / play music, therefore I would recommend that to be there intended use.

I hate this so much. I bought two and I hate it.

The microphone sucks and if you pair the two, don’t bother connecting to an external media player like a TV, there’s a major delay due to bluetooth.

    • there’s a major delay due to bluetooth.

Yes that is the case when watching video with almost all Bluetooth (wireless audio) devices, only a few devices (mostly headphones) with the ‘Apt-X LL’ codec can achieve minimum latency (which is still slightly delayed).

They are marketed as “smart speakers” so using them with a TV I think is asking for too much (I read the reviews back when they were on clearance and there were many upset with the delay when using with TV).

For playing music, they will work fine.

For TV use I would recommend the Edifier R1280DB which can connect to the TV via optical cable for zero latency.
Deals on Edifier R1280DB (pair) is regularly around $109 so cheaper than 2x of the SC-GA10 and also will likely have better sound.

    • Hi I remembered a similar issue with a user and their Bose wireless speakers.

I was going to post the same thing about the latency. I bought a pair of these second-hand last year. I quite like the sound, and the preset buttons on top. The biggest issue is pairing them together and the latency issue. Basically, it renders them useless as external TV speakers unless you hardwire each of them.

Below may be a potential solution for you.

First of all, make sure the speakers are separated (in the google home app).
Then make sure the volume is turned down, and turn the speakers off.
Then get two “RCA (red & white) to 3.5mm cables” (these are quite common you may have some already in the home).
Then do as GaelicAU has posted below:

      “GaelicAU on 17/09/2019 - 11:14
My TV has RCA (Red / White) outputs. To solve the above scenario, I have two x RCA to 3.5mm leads. For one cable, I only plug it to one RCA output on the TV and connect it to the left speaker. For the other, I do the same, but for the right.”

Most importantly Keep the speakers separated in the App.
If you pair them together wirelessly you will get delayed audio again.

Only issue I can see with this solution, is you will have to control the volume on each Panasonic Speaker independently (you could do it through the Google home app instead of getting up everytime).

    0 stock in Victoria.

    • Might be worth checking at the physical stores. I have bought 2 so far when the system showed zero stock and yet the store had stock at the back. JB's inventory system is not necessarily accurate.
