Lenovo Smart Display 7 with Google Assistant - $79 @ The Good Guys

640

Popped into Good Guys today as i got my $20 Concierge Credit. Always struggle to find something to buy but noticed they had the Lenovo Smart Display 7 on sale for $79 down from $179. Seems a good deal for what you get. Only available in store it would seem as i can find no trace of the item on their website. ive uploaded a link to my receipt as i forgot to take a pic when i was in store.

First deal post here so please let me know if ive not done things correctly.

Seems like a good deal hopefully it’s nationwide

    • Looks like it's not nationwide.
I rang my Townsville store and they said $129 was the lowest they could do. They said the $79 was a one-off for other stores down south.

      • Too late , it was 79 maybe like around 430 , then they probably fixed the price error at around 5pm

  • -2

    not a useable receipt either

    • +1

Was more using it to prove the deal is real. And yes its instore only from what i can gather. My store in Thomastown still had a good 4-5 of them.

As a matter of interest what makes a use able receipt? Does it need to be a full snapshot?

      • I think the store name is a little important - good guys …..

        • +5

Uploaded a new reciept which shows full version. Was just wanting to hide my details.

      • Cheers, I think I just got the last one from Thomastown (unless there are more out back).

        • Did you get the 10% off for click frenzy deal in store. I tried to get it and argued it with them but they would budge. Seems others got it.

  • what model is this? I can't find it using the model number stated in the receipt..

    • +1

      Back of box says CD-17302F

  • +1

awesome little device. Got mine for #130 a few weeks back

  • can you install apps from the play store on these?
Like ABC iView or SBS onDemand etc?

    • +1

Nope don't think you can… You can cast some stuff to it and so on but I honestly haven't played much with it. Took it out, set it up, got sick and catching up with work lol..

I would however like to fit another in the kitchen if I can pick it up for this price. Awesome little device. Just looks nice hehe.

      • "Took it out of the box, haven't really used it… I want another one for the kitchen at this price." - OzBargainer.

    • No but it does have Chromecast built in as above. Also supports Youtube, Spotify, Phillips Hue and Google Photos. Accoridng to back of box anyway.

      • It will support whatever devices are supported by the Android Things O/S that it's running, the same as Google Home Hub.

        • It doesn't have a Google Play store on it so you can't install any random apps. Like Hazzad said, its got Chromecast so that's cool but it is limited a bit.

          • @RenVilo: Yes, Android Things doesn't have the Google Play store.

  • So that's the new model then…

    • What's different with the new model?

      • If I'm right, the new model has the grey speaker section at the bottom whereas the old model has it on the left side. Or do I have them switched around?

      • an inch short

        • +6

          that's what she said

  • Anymore stock in Thomastown store ?

  • +1

Thanks op. Confirm there are some available in Hoppers crossing. They are not even on the shelf yet!

  • @hazzad I havent receive my concierge credit message yet. Did you receive the text today with your code?
last one i got was on 19 Sept so probs due for one soon

    • Which deal is everybody getting their TGG concierge credit from?

      • +1

If you take out Concierge (extended warranty) on an item you purchased from the good guys you get a concierge service
Part of which is a Credit from time to time via sms, lately they haven't been that exciting, but it seems the current credit is $20 off with no minimum spend.
I got my SMS this morning as well.

      • +1

I bought a Dyson V10 last year and took out 5 years extra cover (concierge service) which entitles me to $20 four or five times a year…if forgot how often they send them out…

    • This is the first I've gotten in a good 4-5 months. Was about this time last year I made the purchase with the concierge extended warranty. So guess they have reset the year maybe.

  • +4

Mention FRENZY10 in store (you have to shout it out for it to be valid) to get additional 10% off making it $71.10 minus concierge and utilising discounted eGiftCards for the win.

Just did this at local TGG store which did not have stock, so I paid up and now on my way to another store to pickup since I don't want to wait.

Photo of receipt as proof here

    • They wouldn't give me the 10%. They argued it was already discounted so no further discount applied.

      • +2

I decided to buy another on pickup and both sites allowed it.

My good guys are obviously the better guys. Or at the very least good-er.

Did you shout out the code as per my post?

I did a quick check of exclusions and this did not fit in the category. ( It's neither advertised or a certain percentage off)

        • Well that's annoying. No didnt yell anything out. No mention of having to do that at my store.

    • Thanks for the 10% off tip!

  • Can you control your smart lights on Google Home app on this device?

    • its a google assistant with a display , it will act the same as a Mini or Home or any device with google assistant.

  • I think this is a price error so get in quick

    • +1

Was clearly stickered in store so dont think its a mistake. Is only today though. Sticker clearly stated that. Think it's just part of their click frenzy deals.

      • If it was a sale then it wasn't run very well! But thanks for the post, was able to pick one up. My store didn't have any on the shelf but there was a label showing $129. There was 4 out the back as they had just come in.

  • I ll try get one now

  • -3

guys its useless regardless how much it is

    • How so? How long have you used it for?

  • thanks OP
IM going down to my store tonight to check it out as if its the 7 inch version Id grab one, but all I can find is the 4 inch version for $78.00

  • Seems like a really good price. Wasn't this only released a couple of months ago?

Any idea what it's like as a bedside clock (vs the smaller Lenovo Smart Clock)

  • Just called my local store and they have 3 available. Got one on hold. Great price. Thanks OP

  • +1

Hi, Thanks for posting this. Had a few at Good Guys Noarlunga. Also got the ten percent discount as well.

    • It's supposed to be on the excluded list for click frenzy. You got lucky/they got lazy.

    • Rang the Mile End store after 3 attempts. They didn’t have any in stock (only Noarlunga has) but were happy to put an order through for me at $71.10 (initially quoted me $74). Paid via gift card over the phone in full (can also put via credit card via email link).

      Thanks OP!

  • Would this be great to use just for photos instead of a digital photo frame?

  • already bought one at frankston the good guys. also 10% discout work.
its not on the shelf i ask salesman grab one for me and he dont believe its$79

  • Hmm.. Just rang TGG Carseldine who said they have 4 in stock, but told me it's $129.

    • Looks like I'm getting 129 as well just couple minutes ago on the phone with Taylor's lakes good guys

      • Yeah, I've just called TGG Lutwyche as well who are also giving me $129. (But did say 10% if I do it over the phone, still brings it down to $116 which is not as good as $79!)

  • Confirmed in Queensland. Ordered 4. Had to go in store and they looked it up on the computer system using ZA5K0001AU. Sale ends TONIGHT

    • Which store did you get them from?

      • Booval.

        • +1

let me know if you're 1 too many

  • Thanks hazaad, Just brought one from Hoppers Crossing Good Guys store.. it’s an amazing deal

  • Just checked it out at springvale store and its coming up as $129. Manager didnt honour the price as name was taken out of the receipt

  • Got the last 2 from Lutwyche and got 10 percent off for click frenzy.
Not on shelf, had to ask using product code. They had them out the back

    • Interesting, those guys just told me it's $129 over the phone (and had to be ordered in)

  • Checked Chadstone store its $129

  • +2

The last 2 in WA are in Belmont and even then the store mentioned are already reserved/hold for customers, other store can take payment first but Malaga store won’t do extra 10% off for Frenzy10, they mentioned “the discount already been reflected” which kinda doesn’t make sense but oh well

    • Got the same when I called Malaga too said 129 and last one in Belmont. Ah crap :(

  • Only store in 400km is oos 😕

  • Just got one from tempe nsw. staff refused ti honour the 10% discount, indicating it's already in discount price. No items on shelf so maybe you need to ask staff for stock. I rang them a hour ago to ask. for. holding one. great price for this little toy.

    • Yeah seems the 10% off is random. Money didnt honour it but seems some did.

    • It is explicitly named on the exclusion list so that's probably fair enough though.

  • 3 good guys stores in Canberra - visited 2 in person - 1 accused me of photoshopping it, the other said they have no stock and couldn't go lower than $121 even if they had stock. So either ACT good guys aren't honoring promotions within the good guys chain, or this deal is bs. Would be very interested to see how many of you are successful and where you purchased before I ring head office tomorrow to make a formal complaint against the ACT stores.

    • Def no bs mate. Plenty have gotten it and it was stickered. Suspect it's either limited to certain stores or possibly certain states.

      • +2

When I say "is this deal bs" I mean along the lines of a pricing error - several stores reading something wrong and marking it as $79 instead of $129 contradicting head office and the majority of other stores, not that OP or anyone else is playing silly buggers and saying they got the deal when they didn't - I wholeheartedly trust this site (thanks for the neg whoever that was - grow up). I also wasn't suggesting OP or anyone shopped the receipts - what I said is that the ACT store I went to accused me or the source of the receipt of shopping it, and then refused to even call the stores named on the receipts to confirm it was legit. None of them would let me have it for under $121 and they didn't care about the evidence.

        • The store I rang checked their system via the product code and it showed up as $74. I asked shouldn’t it be $71.10 and they did a manual override. Had to order it in though. Paid in full over the phone with a gift card.

          • @ozbmm: yep both ACT stores I visited checked the product code in the system and it was $129, the one with stock offered 10% off $129 which I turned down, and the one with no stock said go to the store on the other side of town and you can get it for $129 - no attempt to order it in. Seems to be a disappointing variance in service quality and the ACT stores are at the low end. Always had good experiences with the good guys when I lived in QLD, not down here though.

  • +1

TGG Clarkson (WA) said there are none available in WA, and that "the Ozbargain information is wrong - they are currently discounted to $129 with another 10% discount available in store with the frenzy promo. Someone on Ozbargain just got lucky due to a mistake" (I hadn't even mentioned Ozbargain, just $79).

    • -3

And TGG Joondalup (WA) confirmed that, adding that the price had been changed during the day. Sounds like some of you benefited from an initial pricing error (people like you make me sick).

      • -1

To whoever negged that, the "people like you make me sick" bit was intended humorously. I'm happy for anyone who got the initial deal.

      • With jealousy…?

        ;)

  • +1

I picked one up from Lutwyche and the staff member automatically gave me the 10% off before I could ask.

    • What price did it end up coming to?

      • About $71 and some change.

        • I posted above that over the phone the lowest they could go was $116.10 (with 10% off) from that store. I was hoping they would put one aside at the $79 price, wonder why they won't honour it..

          • @mitchsaun: I was told the lowest the could go is $122 after the discount.

  • +1

Chatswood TGG said their system has updated to a higher price. I still got it for $79 because I called ahead though before the price change.

  • +3

I hate this type of thing. If I hadn't spent an hour reading up on the product to see if I actually wanted one, I'd have been able to afford one.

    • +6

Ozbargainer moto , Always buy before thinking

  • +1

Went to my local store in QLD. Was told they sold out. Asked if I can order at $79 they said yes. The lady checked the system and saw the price has been updated. Despite that they honored the $79 but refused to give me extra 10% on the basis that it is explicitly excluded from the sale.

    • +1

Yeah seems some stores didnt care about the exlcusions and some did. At least you managed to nab one. Set mine up. Pretty neat device. Can cast tv to it from phone, supports youtube and music services. Only thing i wish it could do is bring up google maps. Was one of the things that i was hoping it could do. Seems to only support home and work as part of a routine. Hopefully that does what i need.

      • +1

If you ask it how long til (business name) it should state the time and a map outlining the trip. Can pinch to zoom in the map

      • +1

If you ask it for directions to any destination (POI or address) it should work, as it works on my 10" model from last year.
