  • Is this better than Lexxar?

  • Comes to $162.86 with shipping.

Also interested in anyone's experience between Crucial and Lexxar M.2 drives..
pretty much the same? both going for similar price, not sure whether to get Lexxar or Crucial..
good option/price to have all my steam games running off it..

    @PappaLuigi

P1 with proper DRAM (DDR3), but NAND is QLC. too expensive for QLC

Lexar is TLC, but no DRAM, if used in newer Win10, no problem

    • oooo ok thanks mate.. lexar could be the go!

yep, running a windows 10 machine, be good to get all my games off my old spinning disc..

    • I read that also having no DRAM means half the total lifetime.

Seems like there's some more downsides of DRAM?

      • Hence, newer Win10 (after version 18xx, can't remember, now is already 1903+) introduced a way to mitigate such problem - automatically allocating some of the system RAM to the SSD.

        Performace, Endurance, Cost:
        SLC > MLC > TLC > QLC > …

of cause, we love DRAM + SLC, but we have to bear the cost

Great deal. I got one. I was a bit confused, but when you add the item to the cart it gives you $20 off, and then you use the coupon afterwards.

  • At this price this seems cheaper than some M2 SATA drives (e.g. Samsung)…

Are these just really good value or am I missing something? Would there be any reason to get a "better" SATA M2 drive over a cheap NVMe? I personally don't do anything that would have any real world benefit from NVMe speeds - SATA M2 is sufficient.

    • It's just really good value. Samsung is expensive as its the top of the top in terms of performance, but the price to dollar ratio is about the same as other brands.

Would the Crucial P1 SSD be OK for the sole purpose of being my games drive? Just not that savvy with all the talk about SLC/MLC/TLC/QLC + DRAM etc.

Already have a Samsung SSD as my boot drive with Win10.

    • I have it as my boot drive and also run games off it and seems fine lol

  • these drives seem slow, there are a lot of people raving about the SP nvme drives and they are cheap. Anyone used one?

    https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-Gen3x4-000MB-SU001TBP34…

I did a quick search and they are on par/slightly slower then the 970 evo plus

  • The extra $9 to get a Samsung 512gb from phonebot was worth it.

Past tense. But I wouldn't be surprised if they restock. Plus, black Friday imminent. I definitely wouldn't buy the Lexar right now.

        • Ummm, that's a micro SD card…

          • @BeefBiryani: Yes. There are two items in the title. One is a microsd. That's what I'm talking about.

Figured it was obvious given the nvme is 1tb.

            • @justtoreply: Yeah just saw that, I am after an SSD so didn't pay attention to other item. Thanks.
