10% offfffffff Apple at DickSmith (Again) - Excludes iPad + BTO (I Would Think)

360

For those who missed out on JB-Hifi's deal last night. Here's one that will last till Sunday and you can price match at Apple. =]

Prices are marginally more expensive than JB but it shouldn't matter.

Note to Mods - Tried to upload URL to DSE but it comes up saying it's a dupe of what I've posted earlier which was the same sale a few months back. Any way to get around this properly? I had to upload a snapshot of the webpage instead and hence couldn't direct link to DSE.com.au

    I wouldn't mind owning 10% of Apple.

      LOL, my bad.

      Fixed =P

Hmmmm… $900 for the cheapest MacBook Air + a further 5% off with my staff discount brings it to $854.

Nice price when Apple sells them for $1099.

EDIT: Seems thats the old one actually. The new one is $989.

Yeah when looking at the listing, make sure to look for the MacBook Airs that have the new Lion wallpaper on it, the Andromeda.

      • Yeah I realised that a little while after. Thanks for the clarification though.

    • any chance can I get 5% staff discount ? I am really into new macbook air :-)

    • Still a good price I reckon. Kinda of kicking myself when I didn't buy it for the staff 20% off mac a few months back :(

      • 20% off for staff? When was that?

        • Yeah, only for staff. 20% off all mac range. It was about two months ago.

        • Damnnn… I wish I knew about that.

how much does DSE buy it for @ Cost ?

EDIT: Page scrolled up after loading, accidently hit -neg ! lol

        • +1

          then retract the neg scan

        • it was only for 4 models i think out of all of them, none were what i wanted so i skipped. these new macbook airs might just do the trick for me.

Do DSE sell a iMac with i7 and 2GB Video Card?

    • That isn't listed as one of the retail available models on Apple's website and it mentions the 2GB as an upgrade so it would count as a BTO machine and therefore excluded from this sale.

As always, best to give your local DSE a call because they may have them in store?

  • off*

  • I really want to get one of the new Macbook Airs, but going overseas soon so I want to wait until then to get the GST back, be nice to get ~20% off rather than 10%. How often do these deals come around? Seems relatively often.

Last one I posted was back in June, 2nd of June to be exact

  • Make sure you get the latest upgraded i5 intel spec - those dual cores are so last decade~!

    • +1

aren't the i5 also dual cores?

      • +2

        I think he meant "Core2Duo"

        • Yep hehe Correct - that old Core2Duo tech terminology has been archived in my vocab matrix

  • +1

The imac i5s are quad core, the ones in macbooks and mac mini are dual core.

    • Thanks for clarifying!

Picked an Air up from JB last night - loving it. Small enough to take to uni and be comfortable on lecture room desks, speedy enough for actual work, and a battery that goes all day :D

Not that I'm a fanboy or anything..

probably a stupid question but i did google it first

    What is BTO?

google gave me BTO share, motobikes, businees tycoon owner….

If you know of anybody in the US, You can get MACbook Air Refurbs for 749.95 from the US apple site. Not bad at around $680ish AUD

    • +9

Yeah I know someone over there, her name is priceusa :)

    • Add ~8% on US sales tax on top, thank you

No better timing for me. Was going to buy the base 2.3ghz MacMini on Saturday and was I happy to see this sale.

As no DSE in WA stock these, I went to the Apple Store and they gladly price matched. In the end, I splashed another $110 than I would have on Sat, but for that I got the 2.5 4gb model with dedicated graphics card.

    Nice on OzB!

    • Yeah, i was just checking on DSE to see if they had any accessories for my MBA i got off JB's sale and saw this and noticed it wasn't on OZB.

The same thing happened last time, was looking for a mac mini on ebay and saw the same ad.

  • Awesome discount! Apple EPP pricing is only 8% off the air, with this its even better!

    Just got the i5 13" Air, $1449 * 0.9 (Sale) * 0.95 (Staff Discount) = $1238.90 (Bargain)

    • -1

nice, about 60 less than non-staff

    • -4

Any love from Brisbane woolies group staff ? I want to buy 11' 128GB air, please.

    • -3

I don't know who negged you, or what for, but I balanced.

      • -1

was an accident from one of the guys earlier

      • Thank u "heat seeker" :-). I already bought one from DSE with 3.5% money back. Not good as staff discount but better than nothing! Was going to apply job from woolies but considered this offer was only lasting for two days so gave up eventually lol

  • Which generation i5 are they using for the new air?
Shame they made it heavier :( (by 20-40grams LOL, still that's 3.4% increase on the 11")
At least they kept the 13" 16:10

There's also no need to say "I would think" in the title as it does exclude BTO and iPads.

    • Sandy Bridge Low Voltage
      http://ark.intel.com/products/54620/Intel-Core-i5-2557M-Processor-(3M-Cache-1_70-GHz)

      • Thanks
Wow I think for the first time Apple are using current generation CPUs lol!

  • It's Apple computers. =( Was hoping to get a new iPod.

  • Hmm… Not too sure if I should buy a Macbook Pro 13" now or wait until mid 2012 (when I really need it).
Hopefully they don't remove the optical drive in the refresh of macbook pro's early next year :(.

  • Hi The Flock, how do you get that price from? I am looking to get the 13" MBA too. from the previous JB sales, someone posted that he had it for 1280 too. So just wandering where do you get it and how does the staff discout be used.
    THanks

    • You just use the staff discount card at the register…

  • Dick Smith didn't have stock of the 13" MBA 128GB Anywhere, and it was on backorder this morning.

Ended up just driving to Apple Store - Chadstone.

Straight up price matched for $1304.10 and had it in my hands within minutes. Winner :)

    • Did you get your free printer at the Apple Store too?

      • Do you have a link for that? Looking at the Apple store it shows that the printer is $130 cash off? Is that what you mean? Is that the rebate or do they give you the money right away?

        • +2

It's a rebate. I takes several weeks to get it too… can't remember exactly how long, but it was pretty epic, making me think they'd forgotten about it.

        • +1

          Here you go

I'm biased against HP and their horrifically bad drivers. I have been burnt where I had to pay for drivers for the latest windows release.

      • Nice thanks for that guys.

  • Typing this from my new MBA 11" 128gb. I'm heading overseas soon and with the GST refund, its cheaper (almost) than buying in the US.
