Carlton Dry Fusion Black $19.90 a Case @ Dan Murphys!

390

This beer is only $19.90 a case at Dan Murphys. It is quite nice, it has citrus and spices added to it. For this price, it is a bargain! Dan Murphys Hornsby was sold out of cases, so I just got a 6 pack for $4.95.

Enjoy

NOW THATS A BARGAIN MATE.. its even cheaper than water

  • +11

    That's cus water tastes better

    • I think you're understating it.

Hmm.. I've only tried the Fusion Lime, and it was disgusting….. This certainly can't be any worse, can it??

    • +1

It still has a distinct taste that hardened 'classic' beer drinkers won't like but yeah, it's much nicer than that horse piss cocktail they call Fusion Lime.

  • +1

Check the expiry dates. A lot of places are offloading their cases of this around the $15-25 mark but all the ones I've seen are use by July or August 2011.

Still bloody cheap regardless and certainly better than something like XXXX or Carlton Draught for half the price.

    • +1

      Better than Carlton Draught ???

      Read the reviews below….

  • I love $3.20/bottle or $4.95/6pack….decisions…decisions I'd better crack a few open to evaluate

at least it's not low carb

HA, The second review is classic.

    • hahahaha gold!

I bought some "beer" that was infused with passionfruit. Cruiser Hummingbird Blonde Lager With Passionfruit but at $3.90 for a 6pack my ozbargain brain forced me to buy it.

currently $9.90 per case of 24 instore

anyway after about 5 i had had enough. 4 hours latter I started vomitting.

    • +5

So what you're saying is that it's not only low carb, but has a built in calorie negation system.

The perfect beer for aspiring super-models.

    • $9.90 per case! Which shop was that? Sounds like a deal to me! =)

      • price from the website.

        they are 275ml bottles.

I'd advise that you stay clear, the stuff is disgusting.

        • +6

But it still took you 5 bottles to reach that conclusion….. =P

    • I'd vomit after 5 of any beer but then I'm not a heavy drinker.

  • Guys, what do you think about home made beer? Quality/price?

    • depends on who makes it…

    • +1

Coopers home brew is great - I live on the stuff. My Dad is retired and spends his time brewing it for himself and me.

He likes to stick with the Real Ale which is a good drop. "If it ain't broke don't fix it" is his motto. Also, he doesn't brew it full strength which is probably a good thing as he has a base of 22 dozen bottles.

There's plenty of info on the web about setting up for home brewing.

      • home brew (the stuff you buy at the supermarket) is excellent as long as you have the right brewing conditions.

it pays for itself after about 2 tins. if you buy the equipment that is.

you can obtain your home brew equipment uber cheap. I got a 20 litre bucket with lid for free from a food wholesaler and used old 1.25 litre soft drink bottles for bottling, just need to buy the tap for the bucket/barrel. 20 litres of beer for $10!

Thanks, I heard about that first time here in Australia (well, in Czech Republic a great 0,5l beer cost from 50 cents so people are not looking for a way how to save money). I'm just little bit worried that I'm gonna be drunk all the time :D (because is need to drink it in a few days)

    • Homebrew - fantastic!
Goto your local homebrew shop & ask, they often have beer kits which are knock offs of commercial beers.

Mine are anywhere from $15-$40 per 30lt brew.

…on the 6th day God invented beer, on the 7th day he rested

  • Is this a nationwide special or a runout of close to expiry/discontinued product?

  • +3

they had it for $27 a carton at liquorland… i bought some.. i don't mind it shrugs

  • Cheap beer - I'm in.

  • Mmmm, beer! Uhhhhh….

  • +2

Drinking one now, its actually very enjoyable. Not bitter in the slightest. I enjoy full bodied beers too, but you can't deny that this is a bargain at less than $1 a beer..

  • Don't drink it. Don't buy it, even for that guy who murdered your family and tortured your kittens. Stay far, far, far away. Move to a different city if you have to. Emigrate.

  • Not bad at all ,picked up two cartons of this arvo ,tastes a lot better than the lime version ,

  • Best before on my bottles was 17th August.

    • Where does it show the expiry date?
I just purchased the 4x6 bottles.

      • I had trouble finding it too, but it is on the top paper wraparound just under the CARLTON logo.

    • mine were march 2012

  • I went to Colyton's shop they don't know the special and they checked with their menu and found it.
They don't have the case anymore and just made up for me.
I should have bought 6 bottles only to try because I have not tasted before.

  • I wouldn't drink it if you PAID me $19.90 a carton. "It tastes like eating the well processed earth fertilized by a long-forgotten diarrheatic hippopotamus migration."

  • I've still got 12 of these sitting in my fridge which havn't been touched for about 9 months!!
Not by me and not by any of my mates which have tried it!

  • I just bought one box from Dan Murphys Chermside, guess what, when one cashier scanned it and couldnt believe this price and told another cashier how cheap it is, the other cashier agreed says it is unbelievable price lol

But the taste is really ….mummmm….awful… be honest !!!

It is even cheaper than water, but I would say water more tasty than it lol

  • They've been on sale at Coles Group stores for a month now and I can't help but think it's due to closing in on their expiry dates. I personally don't like it, but was slightly better than the Fusion Lime. Good for uni students who will drink pretty much anything.

You can buy this off the dan murphys website but with the postage it is-

1 x Carlton Dry Fusion Black (case) $19.90
    Products Subtotal $19.90
    Regular Shipping $12.00
    total $31.90

They do not give you postage discounts for buying multiple cases either.

  • Another "false advertising" pretty much what you would expect from Woolworths owned Dan Murphys.

Online price check for the local store in Alexandria NSW, was $ 24.90

YET they wanted 29.95 at the checkout.

As I had 2 cartons and the checkout person wouldnt budge, ( " its in the system" , as he warbled )

I just left my trolley there and told them to shove it.

I never shop @ Dan Murphy`s again -& this is the third time I waste energy , time & petrol to find out that

they want to charge more and I don`t see why I should have to put up with it.

    F U Dan

  • Just got a 6 packs yesterday. Funny that the cashier try to rescanned it for like 5 times then asking his supervisor is this price correct? Haha I was just standing there giggle.
Mine expire 17aug11 saw other pack on 03aug11.
Thetaste wasn't too bad. There no bitterness to it though.

    • yeah the girl that was serving me was like $4.95.. wait what? And try to rescan it and then another worker came over. I think they would have bought them all at the end of their shift lol..

    Woolies own dans?

  • First thing that came to my mind after taking a swig was ginger beer…

  • +1

ginger beer?? taste nothing like it..

It is just less bitter with a slightly sweet aftertaste.

  • well they have put the price up to $29.90 a case now, they aren't going to sell many for that price I dont think. for under $20 a case its a reasonable buy though.
