  They don't have any excuses left. Money? Nope. Hardware Limitations? Nope. Demand? Nope.
  Just laziness and greed from Game Freak because all you Pokemon gamers continue to lap up this garbage year on year.

    I'm actually surprised they didn't go with more of a link's awakening art style - top down 2d but modernised.

    Mate, they hurt me too with some of their design choices, but your over the top dribble is uneducated.

    Not going to bombard you with something you could Google search, but the wild area is innovative for the Pokemon series. Just get a clue before you launch. Just makes you lose credibility.

      The wild area is the only half decent thing about the new game but even that is underwhelming. Have you seen Xenoblade Chronicles or Zelda? That's how you do wide open areas. There isn't anything really to do in the wild area. Where are the hidden caves and adventures? Pokemon literally waddle around with no interaction or flair.

      Also the wild area looks bad, really bad. Like an upscaled Wii game with no points of interest. The whole thing is one big bland mess.

      Have you seen Digital Foundry's review? Yes it manages to achieve 30 FPS now (I'd be shocked if it didn't considering the poor graphics) but the draw distance is really bad. Pokemon literally pop up out of nowhere while you are walking in town. They didn't even bother to attempt any level of optimization in an already poor effort game.

        I agree with you, I wish it was more.

        But I cannot deny, I am having a lot of fun with it.

        I really do wish they made a better game, but I blame The Pokemon Company, I bet they made the shots. 2 year development. Needed another 2.

    The Pokemon games are a vehicle to sell merchandise. If you want innovation, you're looking in the wrong place. As someone who hasn't finished a mainline game since X/Y, this one's actually pretty fun.

        There's some quality of life improvements, like the ability to access your boxed Pokemon without a PC. I'm enjoying doing raids with a few of my friends in the wild area. I'm finding I like the design of the new Pokemon this generation more than I have for a while.

        At the end of the day, It's the same thing it is every release - the same core game, a few steps forward, some steps back. I don't think there's a whole lot in the way of postgame unless you like being super sweaty and building a perfect PVP team, but that doesn't really bother me.

    The hate is mostly around Game Freak being caught lying about a few things, and the lack of moving the game forward considering this is meant to be the next generation on a modern home console and the amount of resources the Pokemon Company has at their disposal.

    Smaller companies produce amazing games on tiny budgets but somehow Game Freak can't make anything better than mediocre.

  Been having great fun with it so far, don't know why people are complaining about the graphics. Only annoyance for me is a minor one of only having moveable camera in the wild areas.

    Speak to them about getting some compensation if it mentioned getting it on day of release when you ordered it. I got $15 when I complained about the late delivery and said it was false advertising.
