    Hmmm

    About this product
    Product Information
This HoMedics back massager is designed for use as part of Shiatsu therapy. It can be used at home to relieve tension in the back, or it can be used in a professional practitioner's studio for calming massages and physiotherapy purposes. Massages should always be given with care, and any medical conditions ought to be taken into account when determining the type of massage that's right for you.

    Wow what a speaker!

    • +1

Is this an eBay seller thing where you copy a listing that has good ratings and then chuck a different product in?

    • It must have a lot of bass to give a massage!

      • +5

        Bassage.

    • If it can do all that plus sound what bargain

    • No happy endings no deal.

    • 13mm silk dome tweeter

      What dis ?

      • +1

Silk dome is a type of “soft-dome” tweeter and will typically sound smoother or less-fatiguing than a “metal-dome” tweeter made of titanium / aluminium / magnesium.

Some prefer the extra detail and clarity of “metal-dome” tweeters, but at the same time they can become harsh sounding and fatiguing over longer periods of listening.
While others prefer the slightly rolled-off / smoother sounding “soft-dome” tweeters.

  • +12

How do you position the speakers for the massage feature to work best?

    • position the speaker so that the bass unit/speaker faces the area you want massaged. Play deep thumping house/techno/rave at the loudest volume possible… and enjoy the massage …

    • +1

Oh, I thought that's what that hole in the box was for …
      :P

    • directly under the scrote

  • Anyone know how these compare to the Audioengine A2+?

    • +2

R1280DB have much stronger stronger bass, A2 has slightly clearer mids. Don't think the audioengines have bluetooth either. A2+ are quite a bit smaller though.

Have a listen with some headphones for yourself, really depends on what type of music you like too.
This edifier in the video is the same speaker minus the bluetooth

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EW3gJ1J-eg

    • +3

I haven't tested them side by side but have heard both and would say the A2+ is slightly better. However they are > $200 more expensive so value for money there is no contest.

    • Audioengine are better, but it solely depends on budget. I have both, and choose the 2+ Wireless over the Edifier every time.

    • +2

I have owned the original Audioengine A2 (same Specs as “A2+ Wireless” just missing bluetooth).
I have to say for current $399 asking price they are seriously over-priced.
(“A2+ Wireless” is equivalent of R1280DB, “A2+“ only has USB + Aux inputs).

First of all A2’s are tiny speakers (4-inches wide x 6-inches tall) with a 2.75-inch woofer.
Compared to Edifier R1280DB with larger cabinet and 4-inch woofer.
Sound-signature of A2’s I owned were very V-shaped, with bass & highs but very little in between.
Vocal’s sounded recessed and overall sound was quite muddy, highs were clear that’s the best I can say about the sound.

I remember the A2’s being quite heavy for their size, probably to fool you into thinking they are high-quality.
The A2’s I owned had an issue where one speaker stopped working.
Just outside warranty the sound became crackled and distorted through one speaker.
In my opinion all considered and you finally compare the prices,
      R1280DB > A2+ everytime.

  • +1

These have great quality. And all cables included, even optical.

  • Got these recently and love them, great speakers and amazing value for money.

  • Good enough for a 55" TV in a bedroom?

    • +13

The size of the tv is irrelevant but the size of the bedroom is.

      • Thanks for the reply. 12 square metres.

  • +1

wth, 'you cannot bid or offer with this seller', dont tell me they fricking blocked me cause they screwed up my last order and took a month to fix it, and they dont wanna deal with me anymore. I'm sure anyone would be pee'd off if their 1,000 gaming monitor wasnt shipped for 2 weeks and then they reply, 'oh our supplier has no stock', but the ebay listing says 10+ available.

  • Should I get this for my spare TV room or a YAS-108 yamaha sound bar. My main TV uses a Logitech Z5500 but as this is for a spare room these speakers look good.

    What are peoples thoughts?

    • I have these speakers on my desk, and I just got a new TV that I was thinking of getting the YAS to mount under- I was tempted to get another pair of these but there’s no nice way to mount them next to the tv so I think I will wait for another YAS deal

  • Great deal, probs best sounding Bluetooth speakers at this price point

  • Are these best suited with one directly either side of a monitor? Thinking of getting them for pc speakers. Cheers.

    • +2

Yep, thats how i use them, theyre great

    This or R1700BT for $134.30? It's only $25.50 difference.

    I can't seem to decide :/

    • +1

I wanted this model R1700BT and at Amazon recently they went as low as $149 … So I used your link and just purchased a set. I'm not sure if the differences but it has a bigger Amp, that never hurts.

    • +1

      Bought, thanks CheapCoffee.

      • +1

I also bought R1700BT. Thanks CheapCoffee

    • go the 1700, well worth the difference in price, much better speakers.

      • +1

Haha I actually ended up buying both - I put in a cancellation request for 1280DB so hopefully they can stop that order and I don't end up getting both :/

    • No R1700BT left dammit.

    • +1

It’s worth noting the R1700BT lacks optical digital / coax digital inputs, which the R1280DB has on top of all other inputs.
Other ozb owners have claimed the best sound was achieved through optical digital input, and it is the preferred method when connecting to a TV.

      • Does that mean you can't use the USB to S/PDIF/Coax adapter that donnot mentioned below with the R1700BT?
Guess we'll just have to use the AUX cables :O

        • The USB to SPDIF board is basically nullified.
You could plug your R1700BT into the 3.5mm AUX output on the USB to SPDIF board, but then it would be equivalent to plugging it directly into your computer sound-card.

  • +1

Great speakers. To anyone using them as laptop/PC speakers, get a cheap USB to S/PDIF/Coax adapter as these sound very clean with a digital input as opposed to Bluetooth.

    • Interesting … how do those compare to the onboard (Realtek) DAC?

    • Is AUX not sufficient?

      • +1

Mine created a ground loop (buzzing/interference) with onboard audio and sound is dependent on the quality of the DAC. Sounded much cleaner through Optical for such a small investment (the speakers come with an Optical cable), both compared to my PC and MacBook Pro's 3.5mm outputs.

        • +2

Yes. On active speakers with an internal DAC, the best input method is Digital input.
This keeps the signal pure-digital all the way up to the internal DAC and only one conversion takes place (digital to analog conversion),

When connecting with Auxilary inputs, the signal path is Analog to Digital to Analog. And through this extra step in conversion the original signal becomes further degraded.

    • Thankfully my mobo has S/PDIF and even USB 3.0 DAC-UP which my Corsair HS70 is using (and sounds very clean). Will this be much better than Logitech Z313 for gaming? My is 8 years+ and it's having some issue with 3.5mm Jack lately.

      • Won't be a massive upgrade for gaming. They'll definitely produce more detail, but lack the ground-thumping bass that a subwoofer provides (still produce a reasonable amount).

No comparison for music though - these are really good.

        • I just got my R1700BT (ended up buying that instead of R1280DB for $24 more), excellent for music but as you said not much bass compared to Logitech Z313. It ended up as my TV speaker, good for Disney+.

    • Hey, donnot I followed your link and am a bit confused. Is this adapter something that connects internally like onto the motherboard or externally like a USB device?

      • +1

Looks like it connects externally. It is missing the case to keep costs down.

      • I'm so confused too haha. Not sure how to connect this to the PC..

  • Pardon my ignorance but what's the difference between 'PC in' and 'AUX in' at the back?

    • +2

They have different levels of sensitivity. So one (higher sensitivity) would be better used with a device which has low output (smart-phone etc) and the other (low sensitivity) would be ideal for a device with higher “line-level” output.

      From specs on Edifier AU:
      INPUT SENSITIVITY
      LINE IN1: R/L:450±50mV | LINE IN2: R/L:550±50mV

Interestingly the R1280T (cheaper model lacking Bluetooth / digital inputs) has higher sensitivity for the analog input.
      INPUT SENSITIVITY
      750mV ± 50mV

So it may perform better if only intending to use analog inputs.

      • Awesome, thanks!

  • Bought at last deal. Love them.. amazing value, sound and options. Mainly for use for the Bluetooth /laptop and phone option… Defs recommend and they're a good build quality too!

  • About time I pull the trigger on this. Solid deal

  • How do these compare to a Sonos Play:1 in terms of sound quality?

  • +1
    • Might be less with shopback

  • Are these anywhere comparable to the s2000?

    • +2

In my opinion the “Pro” series (S2000 Pro & S3000 Pro) are in their own league, and I would recommend them for those who are serious about listening to music.

Edifier positions the “R” models as Media speakers, the “S” series as High-end and the “Pro” series is one step above again as Professional.

It is worth noting that the “Pro” series are intended for listening to music.
For Studio mixing & mastering I would recommend Studio-monitors as that is their intended design & purpose.
The term Professional for the Edifier “Pro” series simply means higher than the “S” series (High-end).

      • Thanks alot!
