I was looking for new phone and this deals looks attractive, although Telstra's minimum plan is $50.00.

Or pay $30/month for 2 years. You end up paying the same amount - $720 and still get the bonus buds. thanks @bigAlOz

36 months? Who commits to a phone plan for 36 months?! I don’t even know if I’ll be alive in 36 months.

Total cost over 36 months $2520 and next to no data. No thank you

36 months is a pretty big commitment for a phone plan. Also, the $60 plan is probably better value at 60gb,instead of the $50 plan which gets you 15gb.

  • 36 month phone plans are the worst idea in the world, unless you are a telco.
The $499 + $65 month plan over 12 months is better value but not great.
Or you can buy outright and go on a SIM only plan.

The phone can be had for around $800 if you have access to Samsung education / EPP.

Then you can buy 3 years of Boost 240GB for $705 if you know where. Much cheaper in the end.

      • Wouldn’t the boost be $450?

        • Well, it could be even less if you get it discounted. Ie Coles had it for like $135 for a year recently.

That's assuming you port in and out again I believe? Or is that an existing customer price too?

        • there's a telecom you can buy the 240GB/12 months for $235 shipped.

The 80GB pack is $130 shipped.

  • Or pay $30/month for 2 years. You end up paying the same amount - $720 and still get the bonus buds. Not a bad price for the phone and buds but Telstra plans aren't the cheapest

  • Might be worth hanging around for the upcoming s10 lite, which looks like it has a great feature set.

  • Better to phone at discount and get boost mobile

  • 36 long months… yuck.

    What is a "Samsung Galaxy"?

    "Telestra"?

    • Missed out somehow, Updated now

I've said this since Vodafone started this stupid separating the phone and plan deals, who the hell pays full RRP for a phone, certainly not the bloody Telcos!

So instead of the Telcos getting them cheaper and selling them to us at the cheaper price in order for us to get a contract with them for a phone service, now we pay them more for the phone AND still have a phone plan with them. YAY.

  • This is a terrible deal.

Isn’t the idea to sign up and cancel the plan and be hit with the device repayments as 36*20 plus a prorata month of $50 for the plan for a few days. Total cost of phone with buds is $720-770. I’m not sure what this phone is worth but I saw some posts here for $1000 being considered a bargain. So perhaps this deal isn’t too bad.

      • Plus the earbuds

      • Nope, if you cancel the plan you don’t qualify for the subsidised handset repayments

      • Beware the t&c

        Save $648!
Save $648 on Samsung Galaxy S10 128GB when you stay connected to any month-to-month plan for 24 or 36 months.

Discount applies as a credit over the device payment period. If you cancel your plan, the discount will not apply to any remaining amount outstanding

        • +1

Also you have to pay for earbuds if you cancelled.

  • My big question about this is will the telcos provide 3 years warranty with phones that are on a 3 year repayment plan?

    • I've checked with telstra and they will givr 3 years warranty.

      • Well that's good, but I would definitely want that in the contract.

        • Only if the contract is 3 years, if your contract is 2 years, the warranty is 2.

  • 9 days ago the phone was $900 at Telstra and you could cancel the contract with no repayment penalties.

They were pushing it hard every time you spoke to someone in sales about anything.

I didnt buy it, but I did get a 128gb 7th gen IPAD with wifi/4g for $732 using the same deal.

On Monday last week they further dropped the apparent price of the tablets/phones (S10 to $720 from $900) but changed the terms and conditions so if you cancel within 24/46 months the discounted phone / tablet goes back to full price :(

    • Since when they do 46 months?

People try to cancel and get the phone or tablet with heavy discount to exploit the system, good luck with that mate.

      • Sorry 46 was a typo, I meant 36 months

If you read my comment "mate" I am saying the T&C got changed 9 days ago. up until the change, you could cancel the plan immediately and still get the discounted price on the phone or tablet

I did have good luck with it, am using my $732 IPAD 7th gen 128gb 4G/wifi to type this message
