So I noticed it detects heat, once it reaches 70 degrees it auto unlocks….does that mean all someone needs to do it heat the lock up from the outside to trigger it?

      Hi Encify

Surely not, it's from inside only.

      • You mean to say the lock is build with non heat-conductive materials?

        • +2

In all seriousness… If someone is going to heat your door lock to gain entry, they've obviously done reconnaissance and have a plan.

All locks are a deterrent only. If someone wants in badly enough, they can get in.

          • @Tafe: I agree that locks are a deterrent only. It's just a matter of the level of difficulty to overcome the deterrent. Just from the sound of things, it looks like all someone needs is a butane torch to unlock OP's door lock.

@malaymail: The heat sensor does not have to be attached directly to the door handle.

I don't know where exactly Samsung puts theirs, but they could easily place it within a notch or hole surrounded by a heat insulator, with an opening out into the atmosphere.

The inside of your kitchen oven can be at 220 degrees C but you can easily touch the metal door handle to open it. There are many ways to isolate things from heat.

    • Would there not just be a heat sensor within the lock mechanism that once triggered by a pre-set temperature actions to disengage the lock? Presumably as long as one can trip that sensor but heating it up, the lock will disengage regardless of the direction of the heat source?

      • Dear Jawanzar,
No it wont, this is from the inside and Samsung have been producing these locks for more than 16 years with lots of R&D that goes before shipping any products oversea.

Okay, fair enough. Good to know that it’s not an issue. Thanks for the information.

Master Lock having been making locks for almost a century and their locks are crap, just because Samsung have been making them for a while doesn't mean they're good.

          • @Cordova: yeah the rep didnt really give a definitive or concrete reply to that answer.

            i think it's a legitimate concern.

crims in jails talk and exchange ideas, imagine if this was an actual design flaw.

Your link doesn't seem to work for me

    • try now.

  • I'm keen to buy one of these. Are these easy to install and what has been the user experience from current owners, if any?

    • I have a Samsung push/pull. I chose the push pull as you can get in easier with your hands full.
I'm assuming the installation of these will be very similar. It's a little more labour intensive to install compared to normal locks.

  • Will Costco price match This

    • This lock is different and has no Bluetooth.

      • Will bunnings price match!!

        • Bunnings dont have 2 of the products the third one they will have about the same price soon.

          • @DDLAustralia: Gotcha - So get in quick before they do and get the bunnings price match 10% off.

            • @HSV_GTS: bunnings has a bluetooth version of the RIM LOCK… different model so they wont match it

    site is timing out

    • yep same here, parts work then other parts don't.

  • Have you got any deals for the samsung push pull door handles?

    • Hi,
We dont have at this stage.

      • Any deals on the non-handle locks?

  • How long will this offer last?

  • i looked at the Samsung SHP-D607 in bunnings on the weekend, it has a HUGE back part, thought these prices are great!

  • Your site is to slow

  • Are any of these deadlocks as in not being able to use the handle on the inside to open the door? Thanks

    • they dont as they are a fire hazzard so have to have a handle

  • Are any of this waterproof? Wanting to use it somewhere that is exposed to the rain and sun regularly.

    • Water resistance, external part can be exposed to weather elements, internal part should be inside with full cover, no gates installation but for single home the internal part will be inside the house so its covered.

  • Hi op
Just emailed a photo to check if any of these will work with my lock. Happy to purchase once confirmed via email.

  • Thanks OP. Bought the shp-dh537. Great deal
