Poor value. Get all the bits you actually need for a fraction of the price off ebay etc.

Am surprised this kit does not even include the "iopener" heat bag.

Agree. Even if you are going out of your way to buy quality tools (and not the cheapest), you can still spend way below this 'discounted' price to get it all.

Got any suggestions? Was set on buying this and just getting into repair. Thought this kit was worth it for quality but if my money can be better spent on something else I would like to explore that

Their tweezers and prying tools are a really good quality though. You gotta be lucky to get something like that cheap on eBay unless you know what you are buying.

        • +1

Yeah, I did see that the pry tools are pretty decent. I’ve had a few that really haven’t lasted long at all.

          ^ this.
But then again, you can buy a cart full of these cheap tools for the price of a single iFixIt kit and just dispose off the tools after you've destroyed them and grab a new one every week or so. Not exactly the "repair, recycle and less waste" ideology that iFixIt proponents preach, but that's the point; Those who put money down for iFixIt branded tools aren't looking for absolute value or the final word in cutting edge pro-level repair tools. We're supporting one of the largest resource for and most visible proponents of DIY repairs.

Here are two similar options for a fraction of the price :
        https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000353598325.html ~$20 via e-packet
        https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32968998896.html ~$26.5 via e-packet
Tweezers and prying tool are identical, except for the missin Ifixit sticker (worth $80 ?).
Even adding an anti-static mat will cost you a couple dollars, and I am sure you can find those kit even cheaper in the depths of Aliexpress.
Though, I do believe if it is a one off basic repair (i.e.battery change), most of them can be conducted with the usually included $1 tool kit and a hair-dryer.

I had a couple of prying tools that looks a lot like that, tips will snap right off quickly.

Suggestions on something that's similar to this and in a similar sort of neat and tidy "pack" that comes with everything this comes with?
I'm after a go to tool kit that has everything i need that's not bulky and doesn't leave bits and bobs loose in a drawer…

  • Delivery still 11$ or not?

      Was $18 for me. Gross

      • Nice

      • Noice! @OP Could you update the title?

  • Got the kit and really like it. There are cheaper alternatives (I researched pretty extensively before buying) though happy I spent the extra money upfront- all the individual components 'feel' long lasting and quality.

Am now pulling out the kit when totally unnecessary- eg. using the tweezers when fingernails would easily suffice.
