I'm still recovering from my decision to buy the Samsung S4 many years ago - was not at all impressed with Samsungs UI and launcher. Is their bloatware still a problem or has that improved since then?
Lineageos is still supporting S4 with Pie, no Touchwiz no nothing.
But One UI is pretty usable, still plenty of bloat though.
It has improved a lot since S6, not so many bloatware as it used to be. My experience with Note 5, S8, and S10 have been no problem with One UI.
Not to mention all the stuff that goes default to samsung. Samsung calendar, samsung cloud (that one is a real cracker!) etc. You can change it but once an update comes some of those you have to set back. I prefer as pure android experience as possible.
@Calvin27: my thinking too after owning 2 Samsungs, and i recall it taking over a year for android updates to come through which was a bit meh. Since switching to the Nexus I have come to appreciate the pure Android experience above specs.
@Cunning Linguist: Spec wise s10e is better in all aspects except camera.. But I agree with you samsung UI is shite compared to pixel's.
One UI is better than stock android.
Price beat at OW bring it down to $645, I'd say this is a good price if you are after a phone with good camera, good battery life, and have a headphone jack.

It was $799 a few days back and Pixel 3a was $649. I am waiting to see if Google Australia does a Black Friday deal on Pixel 4
What would be the savings maximizing option to pay for this to get the most of out it? I am aware of Entertainment Book discounted giftcards, which is suspiciously not working just before Black Friday.
Is the Xl really worth another $100? What extras do you get?
Battery life is good. Far better than my old oneplus 5t for comparison.
Google is a shifty phone manufacturer.
i bought a pixel 3a variant when it was launched and never updated the firmware just to find out what happens when you don't update FW and apps that you don't use or use sometimes.
have a bank apps, xiaomi home app and google apps like music and keep.
battery life was terrific as i was constantly getting 5 to 6 hours of SOT.
now i am just getting 3.5 to 4 hours of SOT
same usage and still no overcharging or over night charging. wtf.

Me too; I was hoping to nab the 128GB normal Pixel 4 for less than $1000. I guess we'll have to hope another retailer or the Google store does something in two days' time
