Just finished with online chat and was successful. Seemed like lots of work at their end.
Moved my number to the new SIM that I got today, then applied the credit and my phone is working and it's showing the correct credit.

        Good to hear!

    • Best to port out then port in

  • This looks great. I'm currently on a $39 Telstra plan and this is less than half of the price. My question / concern is what do I do at the end of 12 months. I don't want to have to then go to an expensive Telstra plan if nothing is available.

    Your thoughts?

    • You won't be locked in

      • Hi em, I realise this. I wasn't so clear sorry. I want to stay with Telstra for the long term, and I am concerned that if I take up this deal, then at the end of 12 months if there is nothing else similar, then I will never be able to get back onto something similar to my current $39 Telstra plan. Boost, although it uses the same Telstra network, I don't believe that it performs as well for mobile data applications - I may be wrong.

    • then port to boost?

    • Worst case, you will be able to recharge for $300 directly and keep unused data. That works out at $25/mth which is still better off.

    • At/before the end of 12 months you’ll be able to recharge for different plans available at the time, not just the $300 one

      • Buy 2 Sims, have 2 years of access…

Activate the 2nd in a years time and port your number across to it.

  • How long has Telstra had the 12 month prepaid for $300? If I buy this SIM package and wait a month or two, what's the chance that this plan will still be available?

    • There was a $200 deal back in July so I would bet that there will be another deal in the future

I must say that I'm really impressed with Officeworks today.

Called up this morning at around 10am to price match, which they did, and they told me I would get same day delivery, which I did! Received it before 3pm.

    Thumbs up, OW. :)

Bought one from OW for $208. Thanks OP.
Now have to figure out how to go from Telstra Postpaid to this.
Comments above suggest porting out and then porting in. Can anyone recommend which sim to buy for that?
Some people also suggested that buy this and with luck, Telstra chat might be able to port you from post paid to prepaid? Has anyone been successful though?

    • I'm also interested in the answer to this question from ar7ist.

I tried over the phone at first but the guy didn't know how to do it. I tried again later with chat support and someone called Darwin in the Philippines was awesome. Talk a good hour though to get it done and they said they had to get permission from their supervisor.

I made a point of mentioning that the packaging doesn't say you need to port in to use an existing number.

It is doable from Telstra’s side but it’s a lengthy process and you’ll need to get someone who is able to do it. Fastest way would be to port out to another provider that doesn’t use telstras network (maybe $2 prepaid sims from O or V), and then port back

      • Thanks for confirming.
Could you tell if we can use the $100 roaming credit for data as well?

        • Should be able to. “ $100 Extra Credit for international calls and texts, roaming and premium SMS.”

  • If only this offer arrived in about 3 weeks

Buy now and activate 3wks later.

  • Can I port from Belong (Postpaid)?
If I wanted to call to Cambodia, what should be cost extra?

  • Can anyone confirm whether you're eligible for a free AFL Live Pass as a prepaid user under this deal? The wording I've seen is "if you have an active recharge" which sounds to me like you'd qualify…

    Ok.
I successfully moved from Post Paid Telstra to Prepaid Telstra.

I can confirm the comments from some users above.

    1. Started a chat with Telstra
    2. Had my Post Paid service moved to Prepaid (happened over the weekend). Using same post paid sim.
    3. Once service is moved to prepaid (they said an email would be sent; never received one. Figured it out when I had no service on my mobile)
    4. Started another chat. Gave the the previous chats reference number and they activated the starter kit SIM card and applied the $300 credit to my now prepaid service.

I wanted this done on 2 services. However I was told this was done as a good will gesture and they could only transfer the credit onto 1 of my services.

So I started another chat. Explained to the new rep what I wanted and they were happy to apply the credit onto my second number.

The whole process took about 2 days. moving from post to pre is the longest wait.

    • Why do they say it's a "good will gesture" to get the service that you paid for?

    • I had a very similar experience to this.

  • They forgot to remove the credit from the starter kit SIM card after they credited it to my other SIM.

Looks like I have a spare sim :)

    Checked on the Telstra App.

  • hello,

many of you mentioned to get a $2 SIM to port out and in back. But all the $2 sim cards I can see need to be charged with at least $10 to activate. Can somebody please suggest one.

    • I used to port number from other carrier to $2 Telstra SIM with no issue (you may need to recharge within certain period to avoid losing your number).

  • Missed out.

Any chance we can still get this for $219?

Process for transferring from Telstra Post paid to Pre-Paid, I did this with the 24x7 chat online with rep.

Existing sim will be retained and converted to pre-paid - took around 30 mins overall to activate including chatting with rep.

Give Telstra your new prepaid sim number, they will activate/deactivate and transfer the $300 credit to your existing SIM/Number.

Overall took 1 hour but reps were helpful.

    • I need to do this soon, thank you for sharing
