legend is a better option at the same price IMO

    • legend @$199 is a network locked to vodafone,
Acer can be used on any network

  • CPU: 600 MHz ARM 11 processor, Adreno 200 GPU, Qualcomm MSM7227…
Hm… Sony X8 - $99 is the cheapest with the same CPU (but obviously, it has less ROM, less RAM and a very dated OS - the viewing angle of the screen is actually not too bad on X8). Yes, HTC Legend is the best in the bunch (with an AMOLED touchscreen)… but don't expect any major speed advantage.

$199.95 - there is one interesting device in this price range. iPod Touch 4th gen / 8GB ($199).

Really think MSM7227 based Android phones need to drop price more - that CPU is roughly the same as an iPhone 3G. Last time I tried an iPhone 3G, I found it slow (would prefer at least a 3GS or equivalent in speed nowadays).

wait a minute, did you just compare a mobile phone to an mp3 player?

      • +1

        yeh he did

      • Have you seen an ipod touch?

1Ghz A4, with 960x640 screen and everything else except a phone and GPS, and its just $200.

An android competitor should have been able to introduce something similar with a phone at say $300. Then making this Liquid Mini in the 100-200 range.

Well why isn't the iphone $300 then?

        • Because Apple want to make a juicy profit. Why sell for $300, when you can sell for $800.

Apple can easily sell an iPod Touch with phone capapbility for $250.. but they won't. However, same could be said to some of the Android phone makers (if not all).

Accidentally negged you sharky_k, someone vote the man up for me.

        • It's actually an underclocked iPad processor, I think it runs at 700 - 800mhz. And i'd personally prefer android software.

        • The iPhone also has a higher quality screen among a few other components. Its not justa touch with a phone chip thrown in.

Anyway, if you can have one for free: iPod Touch 8GB or Acer Liquid E310, which one would you choose? They are effectively the same price now.

If your answer is Liquid E310.. then this is a good deal for you.

        • Wait i got one, Liquid e310 or a steak knife set?! if your answer was the Liquid e310, then this is a definitely the deal for you!

        • How about an iPod 4g/8GB?

Also worth to note you get 2 year warranty with the HTC and it has an aluminum unibody - makes it feel like a much higher end device compared to alot of phones, even much newer/more expensive handsets.

      • Sounds good. But the $199 HTC is locked with Vodafone which means super slow 3G network plus poor reception. No way!

        • Don't forget you can unlock the phone for a small fee (capped internet so you'll have to look it up yourself.)

        • That is true i forgot about that, some people have said you can unlock the phone free from the voda site, otherwise would have to hunt around on the net. I have found with virgin if you are an existing prepaid member you can get away with getting the unlock code for free (they usually have a minimum amount of credit you need to use before they unlock it for free - so they sort of credit your past usage).

        • I unlocked my Voda legend for free online.

  • Also you will get one year warranty for the smart phone.

  • $199 @ the good guys too
