  • One redemption per flybuys card?

    • +6

Definitely. Otherwise, too good to be true.

      • +12

It's official folks: Woolworths Rewards is too good to be true.

        • +2

Pretty sure Woolies only offers 1k points for a $50 eBay. Since the close relationship established between Coles/Flybuys and eBay, I doubt Woolies would run any eBay giftcard sale to help them.

          • @Neoika: Is gilbarc saying WW pays points for every ebay giftcard purchase? (I can't find anything about that on the WW site.) I also can't find anything about 1000 points.

            • Can you explain?
            • And anyone know what 1000 WW points is worth?

What I did find was the WW ebay gift card can only pay for items "… DIRECTLY listed on ebay AU."

            • I assume that means it cannot be used to pay for items on ebay USA/UK?
            • +2

@GregMonarch: 1000 WW points is worth about the same as 1000 Flybuys points. With both schemes you can cash in 2000/$10 so its about $5/1000 points.

Gilbarc was saying that the previous WW gift card deal was similar with 2000 points for purchases for some cards (Uber, Netflix etc). You could do this multiple times. In this deal you can only do it once for 2000 FB Points.

Neoika was pointing out that this one includes eBay, which can be used on a wider variety of goods.

              Hope this helps.

              • @futureminime: Ah, ok - thanks - so it wasn't an ongoing thing. (Thought I was missing out there for a minute.) LOL.

            • +1

              @GregMonarch:

I assume that means it cannot be used to pay for items on ebay USA/UK?

That's correct, it's the same with any eBay Australia gift credit as far as I know.

I have some of the gift cards sold by Paypal Digital Gifts that everyone used to buy during ebay UK deals, and in order to be able to use them:

              • The primary currency of the item must be AUD (so it must have been listed on eBay Australia rather than US/UK etc.)
              • You must be checking out through eBay Australia and not another eBay site.
              • Your primary registration address must be set to an Australian address (even if the two points above are true, I can't use the gift credit when my registration address is set to a UK address.)
              • @uvbunny: Thanks. It was so much better years ago when ebay was only .com

      • +3

I bought two different cards and got 2000 points for each card.

    • +1

Has it ever been any other way?

      • Do you know is it better to use the Coles GC (5% off min) or Pay with Coles Free Mastercard? I believe extra $1 per 2 pts?

  • Finally have ebay gift card:)

  • +1

$5 fee for the Coles Mastercard (in the fine print).

    • I thought it was always $5.95? Seems unusual to lower something 🤔
Never mind that's the Only1 Visa gift card

  • +5

In three days time all the eBay gift cards be missing in action.

    • +3

Once per flybuys, unless you have got many many flybuys memberships.

      • My cat has one, so…

  • Only once? Oh man

  • woolies better lol

    • Not really. They have clamped down heaps too lately

      • +1

ye but they allowed unlimited ebay giftcards with points back that made it 10 percent off essentially.

        • +1

          Any link to WW deal?

        • +2

Ahh yeah. I was referring to credit card sales. They no longer allow WOW dollars to be used off gift card purchases.

    • +1

Woolies don't let you buy gift cards with gift cards no more

      • +1

But the limit of 1 per rewards card isn't a thing at Woolies..

        • Does Coles let us buy this gift cards with Gift card?

          • -2

@capslock janitor: Nah, can't buy gift cards with a gift card.

            • +1
              • -1

@CVonC: YMMV. Just because one person accepted it doesn't mean anyone can.
You're the exception not the norm.

                Terms of use

No Gift Card can be used for:
                * purchases initiated by phone, email, post or fax;
                * Service ATMs;
                * bill payments, including credit card accounts and store accounts;

@pennypincher98: The attendants mostly don't care. But you will get the odd one out that enforces the rule (out of 5 or 6 different coles I went to, only one did). But the point is the system allows you to use gift cards to purchase gift cards. Where as Woolies changed it so it doesn't work at all now.

                  • -2

                    @CVonC:

                    YMMV

Around me, the attendants do indeed care.

The system allows you to with the attendant's approval. I sure hope there's no identifying info with the attendants that do approve it because they are breaking company policy. It's an ACA story waiting to happen.

Rather than repeating your own success story, would you rather me link the many who have tried and failed? Or my own personal experiences?

                    • @pennypincher98: Maybe you could write to aca and do a story on how it hurts your feelings that your experiences isnt set in concrete

                    • @pennypincher98:

                      There is.

Anyway you said "no you can't" and that's incorrect because you certainly can. But that's a different story to "you're not supposed/allowed to".

Rather than repeating your own success story, would you rather me link the many who have tried and failed?

Mate, I could say the same thing to you. Just read page 3 of this thread. There's already a few of us "success stories".

                      • @CVonC:

There's already a few of us "success stories".

Exactly, a few success stories vs many that haven't.

I'll admit that I didn't realise you still actually could because every time I just got a very stern "it's against our policy" from multiple locations and demographics.
(I know the system allows it, but that's irrelevant - the system allows you to discount everything to free, good luck getting them to do that)

                        • @pennypincher98: hilarious,

                          get on your high horse
have a hissy fit because people dont agree with you
have a go at everyone else
admit that you didnt even realise the facts
                          backtrack backtrack

                          thanks for the laugh

You'll need assistant approval of course, but they can price adjust to whatever they like.

                  • +2

@CVonC: Have a positive from me.
It seems some people like to get on their high horse and think their experience is the be all and end all

They sound like a coles manager

                • @pennypincher98: You go by what the general consensus is

And 99% of the time at self serve you can buy gc with gc

The woolworths system which doesnt work now says no you cant buy gc with gc in the t/cs, but 99% of the time it worked

So even if a staff says youre not allowed to or even it wont work,
                  IT DOES WORK

So just because it doesnt work for you doesnt mean its not going to work for everyone

                  • -3

@Samsungnote10: Are you enjoying chatting to yourself lol

                    YMMV
Do I need to explain anymore?
It's in the terms they can reject. Once it goes further than the casual staff, it won't work.

Sure it works for some people now, but advertising that it does everywhere is probably not a smart move for one thing. Another thing is that it doesn't work for everyone

So just because it doesnt work for you doesnt mean its not going to work for everyone

This is probably the most idiotic thing I have ever read. Let me explain to you. Everyone includes all people. I don't even know why I'm bothering to reply at this point.

(btw I'm not a Coles manager I just go by the general consensus on mine and other experiences - there are many more it hasn't worked for in recent times than it has)
Don't try to undermine my experience. It's my experience. It's different to yours. You do realise how hypocritical you are appearing right?

                    • @pennypincher98: If im chatting to myself why are you writing mounds of butthurt text?

                      • @Samsungnote10: Trying to speak some sense into you, but seems that's too far gone. Have you used up all your negs yet? Here's another opportunity if you haven't

                        • +2

@pennypincher98: @hellohello123 I have used gift cards to purchase this card many times both at manned (split between 2 GC or 1 GC and CC) and self checkout (only when purchase covered by the value of the gift card) but one store refuses. I try to get a young casual to do it. In my experience yes the system allows it some operators refuse.

    • +1

Tried to purchase $50 Ultimate Him gift-card at woollies yesterday but point didn't appear on the screen, same with JB HI-FI gift card.
Rep told me to go through the transaction and it would appear on my WR account but that didn't happen.
Also, when try to purchase Netflix gift card it shows points on screen straight away. So looks like woollies is only good for the cards displayed in catalogue.

  • Can the ebay gift card be used in combination with eBay codes / offers?

    • Yes

    • -3

I paid with an Ebay card something that was 5% off and it would not honour the 5%, luckily I had bought the GC at 5& off

      • Contact live chat. They will either sort it out or issue you a credit.
You can use the credit with promo codes. I currently have $5

  • Jolly knows what $10 back for a $50 card or $100 back for 1k from Woolies !
Why neg out an intelligent comment ?

    • +1

Which Woolworths deal - could you please explain?
Sorry but I can't find any current deal other than https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/499075

    • Some idiots will neg anything.

Woolies offers are undoubtedly much better because of how many cards you can buy. You can easily get a whole year's worth of Netflix discounted, for example.

The only positive for this deal is ebay.

      • +1

        I buy the Mastercards.

        • I think Mastercard is the 2nd/3rd choice for most people in this case. Shame they are on sale in the same week!

          • @Neoika: what is the benefit of the Mastercard? Would you buy it if this kind of promotion is not running?

            • +3

@ln28909: Pay ato, other places where amex not accepted, suspicious website or subscription service trials

              • @lgacb08: Pornhub.com?

                • +1

@arcticmonkey: Not porn, lol. Other places where amex is accepted including medical and allied health services. Also I can pay my electricity bill using these. All now using AMEX points and getting a discount.

I purchased $1500 worth of Uber cards at Woolworths in a few transactions and got $300 of Rewards points sitting on my account.

  • Expiry?

  • +6

Uber giftcards are currently 20% off at Coles until Tuesday.

    • -3

I think Uber GC is 20% off at Coles.

  • I believe Coles don't let you buy gift cards with gift cards?
Have to put down "fresh money"…

    • I was able to buy a Hoyts gift card with a coles gift card I got from Prezzee just last week for the 2000 points deal.

    • I have used GC recently.

  • If two cards are linked to a single account, can i get one each card or it counts the linked accounts as one?

    • +1

      Counted as one

    • +1

Don't link any of your flybuys. Same address is fine with different flybuys(to receive bonus pts) so long as you do not link them.

      • how practcal and worthwile is it to use and redeem 2000pts across separate accounts?

  • Can you buy the Coles Mastercard? Then you get the points.
You use the Coles Mastercard to buy groceries. And, you get the extra bonus points as well.
    Is it possible?

    • If you use it via a separate flybuys account, should work …

      • what about scan flybuys then pay with gc?

  • Can you do one redemption for each type of gift card or just one bonus total per account?

Buying the ebay gift card and might buy the coles mastercard as well if I can get the bonus twice.

    • +3

      definitely once per account,

or else this would be an even more awesome deal

      • thanks for clarifying

    • +2

One lot of bonus points per account, no matter how many cards you buy.

  • Thanks mate!

  • Oh well, helps with Netflix's recent increase.

  • Anyone know which of the places that offer 5% off Coles GC don't charge for credit cards? Only have access to member advantage and they charge 1% fee.

    • +1

      Good guys concierge

      • Great thanks, anyway of getting it for free?
