if you got the R17 you wouldn't be complaining. In fact if you got any of the Reno series Oppo phones. You would be surprised that we are getting a major update from Oppo themselves.
Can't comment on Oppo, but it's patent company updates its devices every month. I've had the OP6 and now Op7Pro and have been getting monthly updates for security and within two months of the new Android version.

The Reno Z is only $50 more for bigger screen, better SoC, better camera, faster charging, and newer i.e more update. The R15 Pro is stuck at June 19 Security update AFAIK.
