If you're looking to get into cubing, this will do the job.
If you're looking to get into speedcubing, there are much better cubes on the market.

  • +13

    Here's a speed cube for a dollar more: https://www.amazon.com.au/Smart-High-Speed-Tester-Magic/dp/B…

These are way faster but if they break, they're a nightmare to fix compared to the normal one!

    • +1

      Hmmm anti anxiety sounds unlikely

      • Remove the middle plate and screw it tighter to sacrifice some speed and cornercutting to make it more stable. Even with those losses it'll still be better than the rubik's brand one which has 0 cornercutting and speed. Cubes breaking really only happens when you try to cornercut too hard and fast, which won't happen until you get decent at it, at which point you'll appreciate its features.

    • +1

So 2 puzzles in one? even better!

    • Bought this. Thanks. People reporting that the 4x4 version of this breaks easily. See how my kids go i guess.

      Good find. Cheers…

    • So this is better than the Rubik's brand one then? Just looking for one for my daughter but know that sticky ones suck eggs.

Does Ozbargain low-key have a hardcore Rubik's cube community?

    • Are doing cubes saving me money?

    All 9 sides?

    • +1

Just one of the mysteries of the rubik’s cube!

    • I'm not sure it's a genuine Rubik's cube, likely a knock off. Probably better than the real one.

  • Great stocking or secret Santa bonus.

    • Door knob in a sock

    Anyone have a link to a 1 x 1 x1 Rubik's cube?

    Buy this one from cubezz.com;
    https://www.cubezz.com/Buy-5245-Cubing+Classroom+MF3S+3x3x3+…

It will be better than the "official" one and cheaper.

Source: Me. I have given out 480 of very similar ones over the last few years. The official cube is better than it used to be, but the other companies' cubes are better for speed and corner-cutting.

If you have ordered it, it will work fine. But if you are interested in better cubes, this is a good place to start.

    • +2

      Intrigued.

What in life has given you cause to distribute 480 Rubik's cubes?

      • +38

I am a primary school teacher and have given the year 5 cohort each a cube over a few years. The love of cubing has spread throughout the school.

It gives me a chance to talk about algorithms and the possibility of solving it randomly (there are around 45 quintillion possible combinations).

It is also an opportunity to show and encourage students to try to solve something that many deem impossible, therefore proving that they can succeed at something that seemed beyond them initially.

        • Outstanding.

And even cheaper than a hanayama…

        • +1

Commendable to see a teacher who enjoys their work. As an adult, you can always remember back to the teachers that were just there for a paycheck. I like the fact that any Rubiks cube is only 20 moves away from being solved. Interesting for kids (and myself) also is every time you shuffle a deck of cards is the first time that combination has ever existed.

    • +1

Can confirm these cubes @Daabido mentions r legit also..

I ordered about half dozen earlier in the year (when the last cube deal popped up) & took @Daabido's advice.. Good cubes & excellent price + quick shipping considering they're from China…

Great stocking stuffers for the little 1's..

    • Thanks!

    • Thanks for the recommendation, just ordered one.

    • This is out of stock. Would you mind recommending another one? I'd be happy to pay a couple of $ extra for an advanced model.

  • tell me how to solve this easily

  • I got the last 3 woops 3 maximum per purchase boo

  • Thanks, got one for my son. He has wanted one for ages but I refuse the pay about $20 for something that he will probably pull apart lol

  • Great but pity the free shipping won’t get here before Xmas ;(

  • Very tempted to add to my collection at this price.
Can second that the quality is pretty average.

I actually used Vaseline to preserve and prolong it's life before passing it on to others after a while and moving to better, faster cubes. Definately took away 10-15 sec off my pb.

Have given one fast cube to my son as well.

    • I actually used Vaseline to preserve and prolong it's life before passing it on to others after a while

Does it make the cube slippery?

      • No it doesn't. It goes inside on the mechanism.. rotating arms

  • +1

I got this Rubik's brand ones and they are no good. In fact, I wouldn't even suggest a beginner getting one of these because they just get stuck after a while and you want to throw it away. I actually fixed it by pulling it apart and putting some lube/oil on it. I'd say any of the cubes suggested above are much better, especially the Chinese made ones.

I got a GAN356s…overkill for someone who needs 5 mins to solve it (super slow), but it feels good and makes you want to play more!

  • if you buy this cube….you are gonna need to remove a block, load the cube up with heaps of vaseline inside and then play with it for ages. eventually it will get soft but will take time

  • +2

Interesting, still so popular despite all the negative feedbacks on the "orignal" rubick's brand. (I personally don't like it for speed/quality/price)
Bought this instead. Thanks to Daabido

  • It is showing $20.29 for me :( Is it because I don't have Prime?
