Sony RX100 VII $1346 + Delivery @ Video Pro eBay

190
PEACHY20

This is an amazing price for this camera. I didn't think it would get this low until some time next year.

Video Pro use a strange model number in their title that doesn't seem to show up in regular searches (RX100 VII, RX100 M7 etc).

    • You didn't 28 degrees it?

      • Unfortunately, I was too late to get the purchase protection re-applied to my card. Ended 25 Sept apparently.. :(

        • re-applied

? . did you cancel it at some point?

          • @snvl: Yep awhile ago

            I know, I'm an idiot :(

  • I used to love my RX100 MKV - only replaced it because it had no external Mic Input.

Anyone found a deal on the Canon M6 MKII ?

    • vii has a mic input

  • The IV is only a fraction of the price.
What’s makes the VII so much more?

    • +2

      III

    • RX100 IV is better compared to the RX100VA than the VII.

      Comparison here: https://photographylife.com/sony-rx100-series-comparison/amp

    • The M7 could be considered a downgrade if large aperture and in-built ND filter is important to you. Otherwise the M7 has the same brains as an A9 in a teeny tiny package. The autofocus is superb, as is the picture and video quality. And it fits in your pocket.

    • 70-200mm

  • +1

Lens on the IV is roughly 24-70mm,VII is 24-200mm at the expense of aperture. And as pnit said same brains as an A9, smaller package, autofocus is superb etc.

  • Wow…looks a lot of money for a camera. Why is it so special? (Truly unaware why this is so good)

    • +5

In a nutshell, this will get you 95% DSLR quality and fits in your pocket. A lot of Pro photographers use these as their back up camera. For video it is probably better than most DSLR's.

      • Thanks. That makes sense.
What 5% of DSLR that you don't get?
        The viewfinder?

        • I think these have a popup viewfinder?

Regardless, the subjective '5%' is probably an image quality thing. It has a 1" sensor…smaller than some other formats, and so will usually perform not as well in low light and may suffer more noise across the board (this can be mitigated by smart processing). It is considered a large sensor for a compact camera though. Comparable cameras in this sector of the market would be the Canon G7X series and the Panasonic LX100.

A Sony A6000 - an interchangeable lens camera with an APS-C sensor - will probably get better 'stills' results than this (video is another matter entirely, and results rely on more than just optical quality and sensor). Indeed the A6000 scores 82 for the sensor on DXOMark, and the last RX100 tested scores 70….not that you should put too much faith in these scores, particularly across different camera types. The A6000 can be had for well under $1k with a lens, but is a little bigger and older (maybe slower at some things?) than this iteration of the RX100.

    • Size size size.

It is one of the best compact cameras around, and much used for vlogging and YouTube.

If size isn't so important, you can get better image quality for less $$$ elsewhere.

  • Incredible price.

  • Good price - pity I bought the VI not long ago

  • Not as good but i also found:
