  • Anyone with the Sony 75X9500G comment on how it handles bright objects on dark backgrounds in the dark? My main issue with my current LG is that it blooms really badly when anything bright in on screen on a dark background, be it black bars top and bottom or during credits. Ive looked at the Rtings review of the X9500g and it still seems to suffer from the same issue, albiet not as bad as my G.

https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x950g. Under local dimming you can see in the video that blooming follows the bright object pretty badly. Can this be avoided and if so whats the trade off?

Dude, I wonder about this questions before as well. But bit the bullet and bought the 75X9500G and never really noticed blooming or even bothered with anything. The most important thing I noticed was the x9500 series has the X1 Ultimate chip while the A8G has the X1 Extreme (which on par if not inferior than LG's A9Gen 2). It's extremely responsive and the TV picture quality is amazing. Give yourself a Christmas treat and just buy it.

      • So you dont notice any blooming around bright objects in a dark room?

    • I think to an extent this is an inevitable result of local dimming. Certain models might be better than others (e.g. ones with more dimming zones), but probably the only surefire to remove that effect altogether is to just disable local dimming, at the cost of a little contrast.

Yeah I recently got a 55X9500G - picture quality is great.

I think you have to remember that in reviews and ratings they are comparing against the BEST out there (and for bloom, specifically being compared to OLED). Well the best also costs $$$ so I think this is a perfect compromise of quality and price. 99.9% of viewers would think it looks amazing.

    • how much you paid? where from?

      • $1299 from Sony about 2 or 3 weeks ago. “Box damaged sale” but zero damage to the box. Other people have said Sony calls it that cause it allows them to sell under their retail partners price.

At the time it was $1799 at JB etc on sale.

        • See my post below. Still available at this price.

  • I was looking for the price of 55X9500G it was priced at $1,695 around 2-weeks ago. Now their ticketed price is $1,895 and applies the 20% off which brings it down to $1,516. Still a better price but wished they had not jacked the price up to apply the 20% discount

  • Daayum are there any dumb TVs with 4k HDR still at the price below 1k? :L
