Just saw this while browsing through ebay. I bought one last week for $466 which was a good deal at the time but now can be had cheaper through another eBay store.
In before the 'this is illegal in [insert state here]' please check your local laws around the use of this.
Fairly happy with mine so far. Build quality is great. Can't comment on distance yet as I haven't taken it from full to empty but it is rated for up to 25km on a single charge.
Not had any issues with mine? Used daily, charged after every ride as per Segway recommendations. So far so good!
I haven't had any issues with mine a year on - though this is indeed a fault with the ES2. The store I bought mine from replaced the controller for me for nothing as a preventative maintenance step
Understand 2019 version has many fixes to the big issues.
Mine has been running great daily use about a month.

Legal to buy, not legal to use in public. I think our standards here are too strict. I can ride a push bike at 80+km/h no worries. An ebike doing 26km needs to be a registered motorbike with full helmet and I need a license. Makes no sense.
Agree, way too strict.
Don't buy if it if you want it to last more than 2 or 3 charges. The controller board on these are screwed. Do some googling before you end up with a useless paperweight.
