What frequency does the sender run at ? 5.8Ghz or 2.4Ghz?

I can find nothing on their website.

    Reviews:

    Thanks for asking.

Actually the wireless hdmi kit uses the 5ghz frequency to transmit High definition content (up to 1080p). It uses WHDI technology:

    http://www.whdi.org/About

This is completely different from the traditional 2.4ghz and 5.8ghz transmitters which transmit standard definition only and are connected via composite.

    • Also, will the HDMI wireless kit, work with Foxtel IQ2 remote?

How how do the sender & receiver run as suggested by the reviews?

      • My personal foxtel IQ2 got fried prior to being able to test this :(
It should work. What we can do is supply you the unit and you could return it for a full refund if it does not suit your needs. Send me an email to sales at hdcity .com.au if you are interested

    15m cable showing as $39.90, not 22.

    • +1

Typo corrected. The 15M cable costs more than the 10m, 12.5m cables.

  • I bought the Mygica USB Tuner so that I can plug it into my laptop, can you please advise if the reception is good inside buildings?

    • +2

In Australia since transmissions are weaker you will need in most cases to connect it to the main antenna. If that is not suitable for you, send me an email and I could organize a refund.

      • So I take it that even the DVB-T antenna won't be of much help then?
If so, that kind of defeats the purpose of portability.

        • +1

The Product serves a number of markets, in Europe the antenna would work well as the transmissions are much stronger. In Australia due the lower density the intensity of the signals are much lower hence the issues. In any case, I have began testing the supplied mini-antenna in a suburban slightly below average area. Will let you know how it goes.

        • Thanks for that. I'll still keep my order seeing that I can also find some use with the MythTV as well.

  • According to the site:

    T1680B Dual DVB-T TV Stick
Linux driver available, Android 2.2 driver coming soon !

…so it should work with MythTV. HDCity, that's a big selling point - it'd be worth checking to make sure, and then adding it to the description.

    • +1

      Yes, that is true.

I didn't want to emphasize on the linux support aspect because even though the manufacturer claims that the tuner is linux compatible, the drivers that support them are not from the manufacturer itself (something quite normal on the linux world). There have been a number of people succesfully installing them. The dongle uses the afatech AF9015 chip:

      http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Afatech_AF9015

I have personally only tested the T1680 on a windows 7 media centre environment in a slightly below average area. All channels were picked up, recording was smooth, no issues.

      • win7 64bit or 32bit?

        • I tested it on w7 64. win7 32/64, winxp, vista drivers are supplied.

      • I actually emailed the manufacturer earlier today as I was looking into using this on my Ubuntu box, haven't had a reply yet.

They list other models as being supported by any current kernel, but make no mention of the T1680B on the support page.

        http://www.mygica.com/download/d_dvbt.asp

If I buy this, and it doesn't work, would you refund it??

        • Yes, we would. Normally have to charge a re-stocking fee and would not refund the shipping portion even on items with free shipping as obviously the actual shipment has a cost. We can make an exception as I am interested in knowing how well this performs on a linux environment but please send me an email so I know and it is in our records. If it works well with ubuntu let me know as future users could benefit.

        • @jong - yeh, they mention that on a lot of their tuners, but finding confirmation around the usual places proved difficult.

I did however just find mention of it now on Whirlpool (http://whrl.pl/RcBdCE), so looks like a winner!

@HDcity - thanks, I'll keep a note of it just in case. Great communication by the way.

      • Good answer!

      • Does it work with MAC OS 10.5 and later?

        • Unfortunately no, MAC is unsupported.

+1 for great communication by the rep.

      also grabbed wireless adapter :)

      Nice one HDCity

  • any reviews/opinions on the USB tuner? couldnt find any with a google search

  • Hmm… Seems to be a massive price drop on the MyGica tuner all around. Last night MSY's price was $66, this morning it's $49, and staticice is around the $49 mark as well…. Interesting.

  • Will the HDMI wirelesss kit work well with PlayStation 3?

  • Hi Rep,
Grab one of the usb tuner. will test it out, if will not work, will email for refund. thanks!

  • Hi there,

Does the USB tuner works on Mac Tiger/Lion?

Also what's the difference between $3.90 HDMI cable and the 13.90 in quality?

    Thanks

    • Hi,

This tuner won't work in MAC computers.
Regarding your cable question, the 3.19 1M cable was a promotion we made that it is out of stock.

  • Hey Guys,

Those that have received the Mygica T1680USB tuner, what is it like without an antenna?

    Cheers,
    MPK

    • Our first customers will get the mygica dongle tomorrow (the deal was made yesterday, after-hours) but I can answer your question, this dongle, like any set top box in Australia needs to be connected to an antenna, a main antenna to ensure reception.

    Hi,

I'm interested in the hdmi wireless kit, as the missus hates the sight of any kind of cables around the house.
I intend to use it for a ps3 and PC though, do you know whether there is any lag if I use this device?

It'll only be about 5-10m away but will be separated by a door.

    • +1

I have tested this device from two different room separeted by 8-10m and two walls. It worked. No lag/latency, lag is of <1ms. I have tested this device on a media player, blu ray player, my laptop…and it worked. Can't tell you 100% how well it will perform with a PS3 because HDMI is not as simple as plug and play but it should work.

Every customer purchasing the wireless HDMI kit from this sale will be able to refund it for a full refund minus a $10 fee for the shipping costs so feel free to purchase and experiment ;-)

      • woo hoo thanks. That's just how I like it.

    • @neohito

I just bought the wireless HDMI kit and I can tell you that it works perfectly with streaming from my PC to my TV downstair (14 meter distance - through wall obviously). No lag with the remote control. I have tried many different streaming solution (I even bought a Slingbox) and this is the first one where I am completely happy with the result. I am going to try Foxtel IQ2 + PS3 streaming tonight (hope it supports HDCP, it doesn't say in the box)

      • Yep, happy with the purchase.
Although now the weak points of my setup is the wireless keyboard, mouse and ps3 controller since they will start to get jittery and stop working waay before before wireless hdmi does

  • Hi Rep,

For the Ixtreamer, the spec mention it has xVOD which you can stream off megavideo. So does that mean we can add megavideo link and it will stream on the tv? If that work I might buy one cause I have a set of video on megavideo.

    Cheers,

    • Megavideo is supported. If you are purchasing the player because of this check th the youtube videos and the xtreamer forums to ensure the solution is adequate for you.

      • But I bet it can't record the same channel twice
