Poor sound and slow cpu performance? Still seems a good price

        • +1

I'd love to know who watches 4K content with the TV's built in speakers.

Seems like a bit of an oxymoron.

Not having a go at you scotty, as I know that's what the reviews complained about but it shouldn't even be something people review as virtually every TV has shit speakers.

          • @Deviner: I accept your argument and agree, but I personally feel that in the race to increase the screen size per $$, speaker quality has taken the biggest hit - but understandably so. I'd always choose larger screen over better speakers or smart features, as they are easily upgraded post purchase.

But one can dream of a budget TV that still manages some fullness from the inbuilt speakers

            • @scottySK: Yep, I'm the same. I don't normally care if it's smart or having good sound as I have my own speakers and an Android box.

    • Doesn’t say it has local dimming. Says it has HDR though, I bet it’ll look good enough, as long as you don’t need deepblacks on the screen at the same time as blinding light somewhere else on the screen.

  • What's an EKO?

    Would love to see reviews.

Here's someone talking about a 55" Eko on Whirlpool
    https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/9nk5rwy3

    • Huh that review is pretty glowing. Interesting.

    • The TV in that review is $449
      Which seems pretty reasonable

  • Sounds like a champion from dota2.

    • You're thinking of IO

This will likely get listed on their eBay account when released. Would be good to stack with a decent discount code.

What's the warranty? The reason I ask is that one of our TVs was a 65" Changhong purchased Boxing Day 2016 for $799 with a 3 year warranty. It was actually excellent for the price but had an issue a couple of months back, nothing major but enough to test the warranty.

Result - a brand new latest spec Chiq 65" TV delivered and the old one taken away. No hassle at all. Chiq is the new name for Changhong in Aus and is a direct competitor to Hisense in China. Respect to them.

Just saying the warranty might be a deciding factor but wow that's a decent price.

I wonder how many HDMI and if it has ARC etc?

    • I've had a look through website and I can't find any warranty information.

    • +2

That's a heartwarming story. Gotta love when products die within months of an extended warranty period. I had a phone die 22 months into a 24 month contract - pure joy

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought you needed to get Google Certificate for 4K Netflix.

    • Maybe for Android tv devices and not for actual TVs?

  • Lol, pre order. Check the market before commitment.

  • Shows $1499 when I click on the link?

    • Missed out!

    • Still $899!

      • Interesting they reverted the price again.

  • Hey if it's online only that means I have to pay shipping right? Does anyone know how much that will probably be?

    • +2

For me its standard shipping $40.00 just click on the link (Pre-order) and add it to cart and check home delivery

      • Oh sweet, thank you!

Must be this one. Contrast ratio seems quite low. Not sure how it can do HDR with such low contrast.

  • Does anyone know if this can still be pre-ordered? It's showing on their site (via both the link and the Smart TVs page), but it won't let me add to cart.

  • +1

It's available on their ebay site now:
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/EKO-75-Smart-UHD-LED-TV-with-4K-…

    And only $25 shipping.

    • It’s back to 1499 on the website, so the eBay deal is a steal!

  • Anyone got one to comment on its quality please. Thanks.

So this TV comes with its custom OS and Apps? From the advertising images on their official website, the Netflix and YouTube app interface seem like they're Android TV apps. I reckon it's custom Android OS?

    • On the Eko site they list the TVs with Android separately from this one. So does not look like it's android driven.

        will do. fingers crossed…

Got mine today, 75" is obnoxiously large but it's a great novelty. Picture quality is as expected for the price point, it's no LG or Samsung panel.

      • +1

Got the TV, it's great for the price. Not the best picture but not the worst, minor issue of one dead pixel but as screen so large, cant really notice it.
Contrast ratio / Brightness means it kind of sucks under bright direct sunlight, but indirect light its great. Screen size is rediculus possibly because I upgraded from a 46"..

        • Thanks. Is it powered by Android?

Is it responsive when using apps? More importantly, is it laggy when switching channels and powering/turning on?

          • +1

@Bargain Fighter: Looks like custom Android os.
Has Netflix and Youtube plus bunch of other apps works well. Can't find option to side load apps though.
            Starts up fast (3sec?).
I don't have DTV setup so not sure re switching channels.
The UI is fairly responsive, close to instant.

            • +1

@kaizen: Actually instant on lol, fast

          • +1

@Bargain Fighter: Playing forza motorsports 7 on this is awesome due to the size lol.
