I was buying rechargeable batteries on eBay and was not an eBay plus member.

When I was about to check out the $22 purchase at the checkout page, there was a clickable link from eBay: get $20 off your purchase by joining eBay plus.

I clicked the link and joined the 30 day free trial eBay plus by providing my PayPal details for a voucher code I can enter to discount my purchase so I only have to pay $22 - $20 = $2.

After the purchase, I cancelled my eBay plus membership immediately so I won't be charged with the $49 annual fee payable at the end of 30 day trial period should I choose to continue.

    Tried it with wife's account which never tried eBay plus trial and never placed an order. Offer showed up at checkout but when I clicked on the offer it said I am ineligible due to my purchase history. So I am assuming you should have bought at least once using your account.

      Not necessarily as I got that message on previous offer and I had made recent purchases. Who knows how Ebay works these days……..even they and their staff don't so its very much hit and miss, but more miss from my experiences.

    If you already have account with ebay plus either in the past or now then make a new one, buy something fo $1 and then in a few minutes add what you want to your cart, the banner should appear and you will get code, dont forget to cancel membership after purchase

        This is for the $20 card, the $50 gift card will only be supplied to you within 10 days after payment of the original $49 membership fee which is at the end of the trial so ebay plus wont be active after around 32 days

      1. Make another account, same address, different name - and when it comes time to buy/pay for anything, use Paypal. (You can pay for any ebay account owner's purchase with anyone else's Paypal login.) Get the $20 on this account. Use it, close the account.

      2. Then do the $50 offer on your 'real' account, as it will probably be an ongoing thing to try and attract people to ebay plus.

    I did get the $20 gift card pop up and joined the membership. Will they send the gift card via email or it will be added to the eBay account? I have $60 item in my cart but the gift card hasn’t been added automatically not have I received any email.

      I had this offer on an old account I use very rarely as my main one already had an eBay plus trial, I was hoping to combine the 20% off with CUB for a carton of Wild Yak ($50 - $10 (20%) - $20 off = $20 in total), but could only use either the $20 off code or the 20% off. Ended up getting it for $30 delivered which is still a good deal.

    There's a couple of good deals to be had with the $20 ebay plus spend. I.e. Free 128gb sd card, ~$8 120GB SSD…

    And just to add, I suspect there will be plus deals on boxing day and maybe new years when trial is still valid.

    Thanks. Just used it. Its like free ebayplus.. one way they offering 50$ on joining ebay plus which is 49$ so free basically and another way is this one… they offer 20$ for trail and if decide to cancel they offer 30$ more if you continue. But in this way you can get 20$ free without joining.

      Surprising, showed up on all 3 of my eBay accounts.

      My main one that I’ve had an eBay plus trial before showed the offer but said as I’d already used the free trial I’d be charged the $49 immediately (but still get the $20 voucher).

      Backup account I’ve purchase a few things over the years when given vouchers from eBay and was able to use the $20 off voucher and have the free eBay plus trial.

      3rd account I’ve never purchased anything on but still gave me the option for it but then threw up an error because I didn’t have any buyer feedback.

      So not sure why it wouldn’t be showing up for you.

        I even contacted support and they told me that it's for targeted customers only, the guy had no idea about it and just made stuff up to get rid of me. Never had an eBay plus before either so doesn't make sense.
        I've got hundreds of positive feedback aswell and no negative so I have no idea why I didn't get it, pretty pissed about that ay

          Yeah very weird why it doesn’t show. I thought it was targeted as well but when it showed up on 3 different accounts of mine I’d just assume it was there for everyone. I would have thought the only account it wouldn’t show for was my main one but it was there when I was on the last screen to checkout.

      Try adding an eBay Plus item to your basket if you weren't before. The voucher as far as I can tell only works on eBay Plus items and you wont get the popup unless an eBay Plus item is in your basket.

    Just be careful with any offers from Ebay. I signed up to their $30 gift card offer upon avoiding cancellation, but they have come up with some convoluted BS about my acceptance of the offer being outside of the qualifying period, because my payment for eBayPlus went through after the offer period, even though I accepted it during the offer period. In short, I got a $20 voucher for taking up trial, but they only sent a $20 voucher post payment of ebay plus, instead of the promised $30.

    They have said I will recieve the $30 voucher after my next annual payment, which of course is totally deceptive. Last time I will be using ebay. Have cancelled my 'membership'. Going to cut my $9 of losses.

    Got offered a $30 voucher to stay in when I went to cancel a couple of weeks after taking up this offer.
    I had used the $20 voucher to bring the cost of 3 X 64Gb MicroSD cards to zero (they cost just under $20).

    So net cost should be zero for one year of EbayPlus. Thanks OP.
