I like the function when it changes mode automatically when you walk or train.
However, in one train carriage you will see two other people using it.
Wonder it's possible to high 5 another owner whenever I see one.

Got my pair today. Noise cancelling is insane, comfort is great but the sound is mediocre at best. Very muddy and bass heavy ( and I love EDM). After tweaking with an EQ I'm thrilled with them. It means I can't use ldac but without the EQ I couldn't keep using them.
I concur. Noise cancelling is great, but not the sound. I don't get why so many people rave about this model. I only use it when it's absolutely necessary.
Also interested in better sound.. Would you share your settings please?
In the Sony app set the following eq under custom 1

1k +4
2.5k +6
6.3k +4-5 ( I use 5)
16k 4-5 ( I use 5)Clear bass - around +3-4 but set it to whatever sounds good to you. I like EDM so around 4 works well.
Try playing some of your favourite music and toggle between custom 1 and custom 2 ( which should be default) you'll find the music completely opens up and the sound is great ! The mudiness disappears completely.
With an EQ you're forced to use SBC , but I personally couldn't tell a difference between that and LDAC when streaming Spotify on highest settings. The benifits from the EQ outweigh any loss in signal quality.
I've been tossing up between this and Bose QC 35 II. Microphone quality is important to me as I take a lot of calls and based on reviews on YouTube the mic quality seems terrible on both. Can anyone comment on the mic quality of the Sony?
The mic sound quality is terrible on the Sony. Sounds muffled. Compared to the Bose the Sony is worse.
Not to mention the Sony can only pair with one device at a time whereas the Bose can pair with two devices.
From what I've seen on YouTube reviews (some have mic samples) when comparing the 1000xm3s and the qc35s the mics both sound like ass. The Bose NC 700s are clear standouts with mic quality, but it'll cost you.
