Even if I did, I wouldn't waste my hard earned on one of these. If I'm spending good coin on a PC, then I want lots of flexibility including the ability to change / upgrade components at will.

But I don't want to do that; which is why my NUCs are basically throw away junk with soldered down processors and whatever random video hardware they had lying around. Even the ports are random:

        VGA and HDMI
        mini HDMI and USB C
Mini Display Port and some size HDMI

        Pass.

Edit - forgot to spell processor properly

        Thanks to the OP!

    • Ah, says Home in the heading, but the description below the OS version is not stated.

  • Same price as DickSmith/Kogan.

    Seems it's only around 40% faster/more powerful than a GTX 1050

    https://candytech.in/intel-8th-gen-amd-rx-vega-m-processor/

    • Only 40% is a lot of frames per second. That site has the 1060 max Q it's comparing it to. It's a very powerful little computer.

Notebookcheck has it between the 1050 and 1050ti, for $1699 you could get a laptop with a 2070 which seems like a much better idea.

      • And the jump between a 1050 and 1060 is already large. Between a 1050 and 2070 it's enormous particularly with ability to handle shading

      • Which laptop is that?

        • Something like this Dell, 2070 laptops are usually closer to $2k but 2060 laptops can be had sub $1500 really easy.

          • @CEO Rachel Jake: I agree that a laptop is generally quite a good idea in comparison to this NUC, but that laptop was a particularly good deal that I think doesn't come up terribly often.

      • Yup all true, I'm just saying that this is a niche computer for some very specific purposes. These NUCs are legendary for their ability to run forever without issues too. Most laptops that have a 2070 for this price are going to be low end and going to be laptops, fit for their purpose.

I have no use for a NUC like this but a mate uses a couple at his work and swears that nothing else would come close to doing the job they do. The only computers in their shop that never have a warranty concern.

    • While it's true, the GTX 1050 is at least 3 years old.
If you compare to low-end but more recent cards, the Vega M GH is horribly slow:
      https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-RX-580-vs-AMD-Rade…

  • I've got one of these units. Love it. Twin nvme and 32gb running a bunch of VMS in a lab, games fine, displays all wood well. Simple small powerful PC without having a massive tower in a small study.

Not a bad price either considering the ram/HDD/os

    • Get hot?

    • I agree, if space is a concern, this is a good choice.
Some may say an ITX is a better choice regarding space/price/performance, but each to their own.

Was one mirrion dorrors, now onri seventeen hundred

  • As a reseller, one thing I will say - the NUCs are by far the most reliable computers we sell including all laptops/desktops in our inventory.

These things are pretty indestructible. 3 Year warranty is never needed.

Only time I used the warranty for customers was when lightening went through the ethernet port and disabled the device. Sent it back to Intel under warranty and was replaced no questions asked.

Yes, better value for features can be had elsewhere but this is IMO the best value for QUALITY.

    That's all - carry on :)
