For a bbq away from neighbours, maybe. In a woodstove they'd be terrible. Too green and still too high a moisture content - will smoke badly.

      • +2

At least they won't stink like pine needles - oh wait…

    • For the in-laws.

  • +40

Don't do what I did last year… I was required to visit the emergency ward just a week before Christmas. I ended up needing to get several pine needles removed from 'down there'.

Last time I listen to the other half… they told me that if I wanted a tree, I could put it up myself… so I did…

    • +3

Ah, the joys of schadenfreude and also the horror of my imagination.

      Honestly, this made my day.

      • +6

That being said, my farts did smell pine fresh for the next three days

        • +1

          It ain’t clean unless it’s Pine-o-Clean.

        • Talk about being in the Christmas spirit!
Saves on buying air freshener at least when you can make your own.

The Ozbargaining is off the charts lol

    • +4

I don't think this will be an issue for anyone else. No one will be silly enough to hump it like you did :D

    • How did you get it up there? Did you sit on the Xmas tree?

      • More like "tripped and landed on it".

  • +1

I love the smell of the fresh trees and for that reason, if I was close, I would buy one for the house and one for the car.

I do think, however, that these trees would be massively dry and they would keep longer if the stores kept the bases in water…

    • +13

Even better when their bases are kept in the forest soil, this way they stay fresh forever.

      • +2

        Until the fire comes.

  • Still ok for Christmas in July

    • Way past the best before unless you freeze it.

      • +1

        Just plant it.

        • -1

My neighbour planted their old Xmas tree, that Was 20 years ago, they don't look very Xmasy anymore… becoming a problem to the plumbing and foot paths now.

          • @tonsta: Just de-plant it.

          • @tonsta: Mine is in a pot, each year before Xmas, I bring it in, decorate it and after Xmas take it out again. Nothing can beat the living one.

            • @Bluering48: Yeah I feel you can leave it in the pot that's best.

  • +30

'Fresh' Christmas trees - those ones are so brown, they look more like the Fresh Prince of Belair.

    • Wow, they do look terrible. I'll bet they'll be in the dumpster out the back by tomorrow afternoon.

      • +2

The red netting doesn’t help them look green.
I agree though that they are not well cared for.

    • Great Segway, you should get into copy writing.

  • +2

Best time to stock up for next Chrissie! 😉

  • +4

    Any deals on Festivus poles?

  • -5

Are these imported? According to ABC news, Sydney, Greater Sydney, Greater Western Sydney, and some other parts of Australia have been completely destroyed by bushfires.

    • +9

"Are these imported?" No. They have been in store for a few weeks, and the trees come from private farms, not just plucked from the bush, koalas inclusive. lol

    • +3

      Handpicked by the Griswolds

    • Less fuel for next year’s bushfires.

  • +1

perhaps a good idea as a new fence? lol

  • +2

At first glance, I thought it was cannabis. Then the disappointment

  • +2

Cheaper than buying a car air freshener!

    • Yeah but it kinda blocks visibility when hung from the mirror…

      • Not in my Kenwood truck

  • +1

    98% off, Perfect Xmas gift

  • +6

I feel sorry to the young xmas trees as they were grown to be cut for xmas. After xmas they are ended in trubbish bin. What a waste of tree lives. They lived before being cut for xmas decoration. Sorry trees…

    • TeamTrees… oh

    • +1

probably more environmentally friendly than a plastic tree

      • +1

Surely not if you reuse it every year (I realise that may not be the reality for a lot of people)

        • You would need to use it for 10 years or so, I heard on the radio the other day. Fresh trees are much better for the environment and have a 3kg footprint vr 30kg in the making of a fake tree. Fresh trees also help prevent soil erosion and added benefit also when recyling etc. Was an interesting study.
I have a fake one BUT found it on household clean up day……..I did my bit and save it going to landfill :-)

    • It is better to be cut than burnt in bushfire

  • +1

    Can we smoke these trees?

    • While the state burns I’d say these are presmoked, if in doubt just put it outside.

    • +1

      calm down Snoop Dogg

  • -1

If they didnt cut the roots then it be great and not a waste

  • +1

These would make an ideal budget gift to place under the Christmas tree for visitors, but I imagine they'd be a nightmare to wrap. Certainly easier than puppies (which is why they say "not just for Christmas").

  • +1

Never knew I'd see actual Xmas trees at Coles.. whoa

  • +2

    Thanks, Halloween decorations sorted.

  • +1

Oh lol… I was just there… But my Ozbargain side of me didn't click in… Whoops 😂😂

  • -1

    bonus insects

  • +1

    Someone overordered

  • +1

if they start selling them with $10 to $15 probably no need to do like this so then all alrady gone . removing waste from coles cost wolud be more than this

    • +1

Yes, of they were really dropped from $70 to $1 then someone dropped the ball with this… Should've dropped the price list week like my local Coles.

But maybe they found them in a pile out the back last night?

  • +3

Update, visited this morning, it is Free now, so, 100% off…

plenty of stock in the store back storage area, just ask the friendly staff to get some.

  • +1

Poor trees. I feel sorry for them that they didn't get some love and bring some joy to a family.

  • Could probably woodchip them, if you have access to a good woodchipper. Turn those bad boys into some mulch for the garden.

  • -2

A complete disgrace where one religion advocates hate and destruction of our resources

    • +1

They’re locally grown for local consumption.

      • It's not a resource if it's locally grown?

        • +1

No. Pine trees grown for Xmas is nothing more than roses grown for spring.

  • Our vegan mate best Christmas food

  • I’ll get one now to use next year.

  • -4

I'm Jewish, so couldn't care less.

    • +1

Thanks for letting us know. 👍

      • -3

Us Jews tend to put our trees outside of the house. They stay alive more easily that way.

        • +1

You grow pine trees in your front yard?

          • @whooah1979: Yes. Google Sukot.

            • @AussieZed: The trees used for Sukkot are not pine.

              • @whooah1979: They can be.

              • -2

@whooah1979: Anyway shouldn't you be busy doing your pointless Xmas stuff, instead of on here?

                • +1

@AussieZed: We're doing our bit to prop up the economy by going out and shopping right now.

Merry Xmas to you and your family.

                  • @whooah1979: Nice try. Nothing is open.

                    • @AussieZed: Try Sydney.

                      • -1

@whooah1979: Name a few stores that are open then. I'll ring them to confirm.

                        • +1

@AussieZed: Many enclave suburbs around Sydney are open on public holidays. Anyone that have lived in Sydney long enough knows where they are.

We just finished shopping for Xmas day dinner.
