Who needs that many coffee beans? I can barely get through a half kilo pack without them going stale.

    • a cafe

      • +2

There’s a lot of old Europeans that still drink percolator stove top coffee and people with fully automatic machines. 1kg at 2 coffees a day last around 1 month.

        • +7

I have 3 espresso at day an 1kg lasts exactly one month. Never had problems with stale, when I open the bag I put the beans in a big glass jar with sealing lid and no problems.

@Laziofogna: Try to keep them away from light as well, or in a brown glass jar to block UV.

            • @corbz: Sure, they are always away in the pantry darkness.

          • @Laziofogna: There’s also something about the smell of fresh coffee in the morning. It literally brightens your morning.

Cafe's don't source Harris beans vis Amazon.

        • If it’s cheap then why not

    • Just got 2 kg , crying can't fire at this deal due to your point : (

  • So it's cheaper if you subscribe and cancel after first delivery ? Any catch ?

    • +3

Just make sure you remember to cancel the subscription after you order.

Also Subscribe & Save, doesn't qualify for Cashback.

      • Fair enough, thank you.

      • +2

        I didn't realise this, thanks.

      • +2

        After its shipped.
If you cancel before the order may also be cancelled.

  • +2

Typo in the selection … says 6KG of espresso for $24.99 .. but you'll only end up with 6 x 200grams (as per title) & an amazon gift card or refund when you whinge.

Before you all go screw them over, let me get my 3kg - thanks!

    • I'm after whole beans. Any way to get 6kg of whole beans? I can only find the ground ones in the different flavours

      • +2

Just order 2 of this deal.

      • +1

Why? This stuff will be stale compared to getting it from a roaster. By the time you get to the 6th kilo it will be even older..
If you have a half decent machine and grinder, spend the extra $ on freshly roasted beans not something that's been held in a warehouse for months on end

        • +1

6kg is cheaper than the 3kg lot, that's why.

  • +4

I've found the beans from Amazon aren't that fresh… Probably sitting at their warehouse for months before being sold..

    • you mean not fresh in a double-blind test, or by reading the "best before" date?

  • +1

Can these be used with this

Nvm, just read it say suitable

  • Is the price locked in when you subscribe i.e. $25.19 each delivery?

  • Better than aldi?

    • +3

      No.

Harris used to be my go to supermarket coffee for years…..that's until I converted Aldi single origin.

      • Wow I just googled after I read this comment. Everyone seems to love them. Aldi it is this time round.

      • Agree with ya on that one! Aldi's Coffe is great.

    • What’s the recommended grind settings for the Aldi beans using the Breville grinder? It’s for a delter press.

      • Is there any difference? I generally like it 70% fine grinding. I think it gives the right crema for my espressos.

Every SG is has different settings, as tightness changes over time- and also when someone tightens the internal burr setting as I did after the first 6mo or so. I then tightened again, a year later. My mum's SG, which has seen far less work, has been tightened once, 16 is ideal setting. On mine, 12. Before I first advanced mine, I was nearing 5. It is a year older than hers, and may need to have the factory setting advanced another notch (for the third time) sometime after mid 2020.

The way to get the grind right is to first be sure you are getting the amount correct, as the SG has a 'grind time' setting as well, which most people use, and any overloading of the portafilter will cause immediate increases in puck pressure during the draw, and cause you to think the brew is better or worse due to the grind setting when it is just the amount you have ground causing the draw to slow down.

Best way to beat this is to measure the amount in your pf with a scale to prevent any overloading. Also watch to make sure no contact with the shower screen during loading, (a little showing after the draw is complete is okay as the puck swells (after it fully drawn and ready to be discarded).

With these factors under control, I watch the brew fill the cup to get the best crema I can, (making small changes to the fineness of the grind each time).

  • So my order was just cancelled… No idea why. I had to place it again with delivery scheduled to Jan 2 instead of Jan 20
