Terms & Conditions: This offer is valid for a limited time only and subject to availability. In order to qualify for the promotional credit, you must: (1) purchase at least $50 in eligible Amazon.com.au Gift Cards ("GCs") in a single order at Amazon.com.au between 12:01am (AEDT) on 26 December 2019 and 11:59 PM (AEDT) on 27 December 2019 (“Promotional Period”); and (2) enter the promotional code "W5CFPG2JXDZ8" in the "Gift Cards & Promotional Codes" box when you check out. Amazon.com.au Gift Card purchases must total at least $50 in combined value, and the Amazon.com.au Gift Card(s) must be purchased in a single order at Amazon.com.au during the Promotional Period. Amazon.com.au Gift Cards are subject to Terms and Conditions. Taxes, shipping and handling, and gift wrap charges, if applicable, do not apply when determining the minimum purchase amount. For qualifying purchases, a promotional credit of $10.00 will be automatically applied to the Amazon.com.au account that was used to purchase the Amazon.com.au Gift Card(s) after the qualifying order has been completed or, where applicable, the order has shipped. An email notification will be sent to the primary email address associated with the Amazon.com.au account used to purchase the Amazon.com.au Gift Card(s) within two (2) business days of the qualifying purchase being completed, or if delivered by mail, when shipped. Limit one promotional credit per Amazon.com.au account. This promotional credit entitles any customer to $10.00 off their purchase of “eligible items” shipped and sold by Amazon AU. “Eligible items” excludes products sold by third party sellers including Amazon US (Amazon Global Store) even if “fulfilled by Amazon”, digital purchases such as e-books, products that are not in new condition such as renewed products, subscriptions such as Prime Video and Audible, gift cards and postage or delivery rates. Amazon AU’s standard delivery rates and policies apply to any purchase made pursuant to the offer. The promotional credit can only be redeemed once per customer on eligible items and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. If Amazon considers a customer to be operating multiple accounts, those accounts will, for the purposes of this offer, be treated as one customer. If you return any item purchased using the promotional credit, Amazon AU will only refund the price actually paid for the item (that is, less the value of the promotional credit) and the promotional credit will be invalidated. The promotional credit is not transferable and may not be resold, redeemed for or applied toward the purchase of any gift cards sold at Amazon.com.au. The maximum benefit you may receive from this offer is $10.00. Offer ends at 11:59 PM (AEDT) on 27 December 2019. The promotional credit expires at 11:59 PM (AEDT) on 1 March 2020.

The $10 promotional credit didn't get applied to my order but when I contacted Amazon they said there's no need to worry it just takes 2 business days and it will happen automatically.

  • Not showing on my account.

    • Did you login? Try different browsers maybe?

      • I used the link posted below and the generic code and it says it worked. Thanks!

  • Nothing for me as well. Probably targeted as you mentioned. Tried the app and chrome.

    • It’s weird, i am the only one receiving this?

  • -1

    Targetted. Change title please

    • +1

Normal users like us don’t have the option to change to targeted.

      • -7

Just edit title and put targeted next time. Wouldn't be surprised the site upgrades it automatically

    • +3

Not targeted. Just takes a few refreshes

    • Edit: disregard not targeted as per posts further down

  • +1

Can't see anything, feel so un-targeted

  • +6

I got it, the promotion square was halfway down the homepage and didn't show up every time for me. I had to refresh the page twice to find it.

  • +2

I also found the promotion half way down after a refresh using browser.

  • +2

Thanks. Would probably have missed it if you didn't post.

  • It's showing up for me, cheers OP!

  • Does it show if you have pihole on your network/adblock type extensions on your browser?

    • +1

Yeah might wanna try a different browser. Didn't show on Chrome with AdBlock extension but it showed up when i use Edge instead.

      • +1

Thanks for that, I can confirm I had the same experience :).

Have Pihole on network, didn't show up in Chrome with uBlock Origin and Decentraleys, but Edge showed it :)

Enter the claim code ‘W5CFPG2JXDZ8’ in the ‘Payment Methods’ section at checkout when you buy $50 in Amazon.com.au Gift Cards in a single transaction. Your credit will be automatically applied to your account up to 2 business days after your order is shipped.

  • +9

OK, so I'm pretty sure this isn't targeted.

I think, if you keep refreshing the main page, then the promo box will appear eventually for everyone.

It'll look like this, and will be towards the bottom, if you scroll down:
    https://i.imgur.com/SjwSzRx.png

One warning I should post is that if you buy multiple cards on different accounts, and you use the same credit card, then your account may get locked. Lol.

My second account has been locked because Amazon said they detected "unusual payment activity" on the credit card & then they asked me to provide details about the card & said they'll get back to me within 24 hours. (I only found out, it was locked, when I logged into the account to check the status of the gift card order.)

    • Thanks mate, I just kept on refreshing and it eventually worked.

    • Thanks this worked! although I am sure I could have just tried entering the code as well!

Great to have the pic to know what I was looking for.

  • Upvoted it now. The suggestion to refresh the page worked for me after a couple of tries. Kept using chrome. Thank you, OP!

  • +6

This is what the red square looks like

For me it was about 3/4 the way down. Only showed up after refreshing a few times.

Edit: checked on multiple accounts, looks like its a generic code.

    • Thanks so much for the code! It says the promo code has been successfully redeemed. Fingers crossed I'll actually get it since I can't see the offer no matter how many time I refreshed!

      • Awesome! can anyone else confirm that code works for them?

        • I got the same code after refreshing a gazillion times too!

  • I believe that the cash back is invalid for gift cards.
Thanks OP, it shows up for me.

    • +1

You won't get cashback from Shopback if you buy a gift card, but it'll be valid (at least until, as of today) if you pay with a gift card.

On the website, Shopback's conditions for Amazon.com.au specifically say that:

Cashback is only payable on order value (excludes taxes, shipping and packaging costs) and as of 6th May 2019, is valid on orders paid for with gift cards

      • What if its a combination of credit card payment and some gift card (ie - $400 on credit card, then say $60 gift card), will they still track the $400?

      • What if part if the payment us with the $10 credit, is CB still valid?

        • Don't think it's eligible for cashback. Purchases with gift cards are, but purchases with credit are not

  • I had it on my account. Found it on the app. You have to copy and paste the promo code at check out with a $50 gift card. Thanks OP!

  • +1

Also didn’t see it for about 5 refreshes but it showed up.
Main homepage was a bit screwy in iOS Safari but loaded fine with request desktop site.

  • -1

    Got it. Thanks OP.

  • +4

try this link and the copy paste code looks like it might be generic aswell

    W5CFPG2JXDZ8

    • +2

i got the same code too, must be generic.

      • me too.

  • Prime only ? Or works for non prime

    • +1

i am non prime worked for me.

  • +1

Did anyone get their extra $10 applied straight away?

I got a family member to do it as well and their gift card hasn't been sent or received and we're going on 15 minutes now. Wonder if they are getting smashed.

    • +1

My account got blocked after ordering the gift card. These bastards can’t unlock my account straight away and I can’t use my account to order anything now!

      • -1

Nup me either - added someone that is sold by Amazon AU, went to check out - doesn't show the additional $10 credit

      • -2

I was going to purchase a lightning deal but the gift card is stuck in pending. It mentioned a 5 minute period to process when purchasing but it's been.mucj longer for me.

        Very frustrating Amazon.

    • -1

The gift card is sent out super slow, but if it's been more than, say, 20 or 30 minutes, then the family member should check the status of their order by going back into their account.

It's possible that the account is temporarily locked because the payment triggered some warning in Amazon's systems.

The order on one of my accounts was suspended & the account locked because I used the same credit card to buy a gift card on another account. Amazon didn't send me any email about this. I only found out it was locked when I logged back in.

      • +2

The gift card arrived not long ago. They have have been activated however no $10 promo credit for either of us using the code provided in the thread. When using the code we both got a message saying the code had been successfully applied.

  • +3

Promo balance only valid for Amazon AU items, lost upon return(s) and not valid with cashback. Keep all that in mind. Make sure you buy something you're 100% sure won't need returning / refunding. If you do have an issue request a replacement instead of return or you'll lose the balance.

Gift cards valid with cashback, just promo balance isn't.

    • +1

Promo balance only valid for Amazon AU items, lost upon return(s)

it isn't automatic, but I have always got the credit back using chat.

      • Cheers for tip, will remember that one.

Just note this isn't what the terms say though - promo balance used for a purchase is intended to be invalidated upon returning an item. Is stated in terms.

    • Poo Tickets - Non returnable i reckon!

  • +1

Thanks OP! Best deal of the day!

  • Can you use the gift cards to pay for Prime subscription?

    • No you can't. I asked the live chat a few days and they notified me of this deal. Also said GC cannot be used to purchase prime membership.

  • yeah i just pick one egiftcard applied the code and…..

    Qualifying offers
Congratulations. Your purchase qualifies you for a $10 promotional credit

    • Thanks for the direct link.

    • Couldn't find it anywhere in my account until your link. Ta

  • +1

Can we use a gift card or credit to pay for Amazon prime?

    • +5

when you get your gift card please try and report back here.. thanks

    • +1

      Not usually no.

There's a trick for US prime where you can buy a prime membership gift card with the normal gift card, but prime membership gift cards aren't available for Amazon AU prime.

      • Ahhh thanks!

        • Let us know if it does work / you find a way, but terms do state:

Amazon.com.au Gift Cards cannot be used to purchase, or applied to any order containing certain ineligible goods and services such as collectible coins, subscriptions or other gift cards.

    • +2

Quick update: My order got cancelled and account got locked for 2 hours, I will try again in the afternoon and see how I go.

  • Works for me, I have Amazon Prime

  • +1

I got gift card instantly but can't see my promo credit. I entered code aswell

    • Took a whole to get the gift card but promo credit not showing up

    • I just got my $10 credit by ringing Amazon customer service. Got through straight away and they applied manually

  • +3

Just got a call from their verification team.
The call started out sounding dodgy af but I can confirm it is indeed amazon and not a scam. Right after the call my order was processed and money was deducted. They just want a simple yes/no

    • Same here. Got the gift card just now after the call (from a private number) but no $10 promo.

  • Purchased a gift card, but still waiting on it to be delivered after 20 mins.. EDIT: Looks like I just got it now.

  • i regularly buy from amazon so they dont need to call me. got the email gift card just like 10mins after purchase.

Hope you enjoy this Amazon Gift Card!

    now waiting for the $10…

  • my gift card arrived within 1 min. how long for the $10 credit coming. this is my only spending this boxing day

  • Haven't receive my $10 credit either. Was that supposed to be emailed?

  • +8

I think the $10 promotional credit will arrive up to 2 days after, the qualifying transaction is completed.

    From the t &cs

For qualifying purchases, a promotional credit of $10.00 will be automatically applied to the Amazon.com.au account that was used to purchase the Amazon.com.au Gift Card(s) after the qualifying order has been completed or, where applicable, the order has shipped. An email notification will be sent to the primary email address associated with the Amazon.com.au account used to purchase the Amazon.com.au Gift Card(s) within two (2) business days of the qualifying purchase being completed, or if delivered by mail, when shipped. Limit one promotional credit per Amazon.com.au account.

    • +1

Well that explains it… shame on us for not reading all the small print and coming back for whinge 'wheres my extra $10!' (i'm guilty of this myself)

      • has anyone actually seen it being applied yet?

    • This needs to be put in the wiki…

Since there is no wiki on ozbargain, this needs to be bolded in the original post, because otherwise, there's going to be a crap ton of comments complaining about not receiving the 10 bucks.

      • +1

        Or people could read….

        • That doesn't change the fact that people need to still read.

          It's been bolded now.

      • Since there is no wiki on ozbargain

        You sure about that?

        • A wiki section for each deal is what I was talking about.

  • +3

You've only got 2 months to use it.

'The promotional credit expires at 11:59 PM (AEDT) on 1 March 2020.'

    • -1

      thats not good

      • +4

It's effectively free money. You're not losing anything if you don't use it in time. Especially if you regularly use Amazon and gifted the gift card to yourself.

    • +1

Isn't it against the new Australian gift card policy?

      • It's not a gift card, it's 'promotional credit' I guess lol.

      • +1

The Amazon.com.au Gift Card itself does not expire. But the $10 promotional credit does expire.

      • I'm sure it doesn't apply to free money

  • Thanks OP, I don't think it's targeted either. Just refreshed the page a few times.

  • +1

Now that I have drained my credit card limits from bargains…

Now I'm onto buying discounted gift cards for future bargains (using a new credit card obtained from an ozbargain deal of course!)

    For a greater Australian GDP!

    • -1

Frydenberg owes you one. Spend, spend, spend what you don’t have til you can’t spend no more! :D

  • Does it work on eGift cards as well or just Gift cards?

  • +2

this works out to be 16.7% off effectively for a $50 giftcard

  • Can’t see anywhere to enter the code. Payment method page just shows my card or an option to add a card.

    • +1

There is on the last page, keep going.

      • Thanks. Got it.

  • +2

Transaction paid by promotional credit is not eligible for cashback
so don't use it for big purchase

    • to recap: (am i right?)

…… the $50 we bought is just like cash, we can use anytime (balance never expiry) and valid for future cashbacks and other promos.
BUT… the $10 we get in 2 days, is promo credit so wont valid with cashback offers, and expiry in 1st march 2020

  • Can I use this to buy something today from boxing day deals?

    • +1

You can use the $50 gift card, but the $10 promo credit may take a couple of days to arrive.
