    Won't work in Melbourne today…

    • +7

Oof, won't work in most states in the summer heat

    • +3

i have a similar model but from baseus. Either way they're AC vent mount, so after a few minutes of a running car will charge fine.

AC vent mount are great for summer in my opinion, dash mounts always fall off for me in the heat. In winter I'll swap around to a dash mount (mine came with dual mounts).

That said in my experience in terms of chinese brands xiaomi>baseus so far.

I bought a cheap Cabin Crew dash mount from SCA and it has never once fallen off in the intense Sydney summer. And my car also sits under the sun the whole day, every day. So I think some dash mounts are better than others.

Who sits in a 40 degree car?? If you can't afford air conditioning you can't afford this :) .

Who sits in a 40 degree car??

        toddlers apparently…

        Mai, the phone charger.

plenty of classics and HiPo cars dont have AC… Im betting plenty of them cost more than your ride..

        • Ew

        • +1

And they'd make up what, about 0.5 % of the car population if that? great argument.

        • If it doesn't have AC, it shouldn't be expensive than his ride…

        • Yea and someone with a car like that would want to stick this in it.. mmmhmm..

          • @Pebblebug: Yes because they still want tunes, and no fines and 60s and 70s all metal classics for example dont usually have a million pockets.
A classic muscle car that never had AC, and wont get AC, can cost $400k, but its far from hard to spend 60k.

Plenty of people do mods on modern cars that its easier to remove AC.

The question was who sits in a car in 40C, not how many. And the statement if you cant afford AC, you must not have money is false.

Seems like a good deal. Bought one. Strongly dislike the website. It forces you to register, verify email, etc.

Does this work with bigger phones like the Samsung Note 9?

    • +1

Yes, the back part can slide up and down to fit most of the phone.

  • For $18 seems like it's worth a try.

  • What vent clip does it use?

  • Input is via micro usb or USB c?

    • +2

Can't tell from the photos which is annoying. I recently got one from Kogan, and it was micro USB and it doesn't charge rapidly but was advertised as fast wireless charger. 😡

    • +2

Photo of the included cable is micro usb

I've tried a number of different wireless chargers very similar to this, none have survived a Melbourne summer … the internal temperatures of a car on a 40c summer day can reach into the 90s , which probably fries the circuits…

    • try this… not exactly cheap but ive been using it for half a year. i went through a handful of brands sub 20-30 dollar ones to find one that sticks on well.

it is stuck on my dash on say a 70 degree angle, surface is slightly grainy but still sticking very well.

    • But if this thing is charging the car would be running and the aircon would be on, no?

      • +1

I park my car in an open air carpark so I suspect the prolonged high internal temperatures cooked it.

Good price, other sites show it as compatible with S9 (presumably S10) and Iphone XS, so should suit my needs…crazy mobile phone laws in WA make a cradle almost mandatory if you use the phone in any way in the car and there is a chance you may be able to see the screen. I am buying one simply to avoid the need to explain that carplay/Android Auto is controlling the phone and I am not using the device sitting on the passengers seat.

Actually apple's implementation of Carplay makes its almost impossible to comply with the law (unless you physically hide the phone). And don't get me started on WAZE telling you to refer to your phone to unlock the app, which would require me parking the car, turning off the ignition and then responding to the phone.

    • Assuming the brands being equal

  • Is it possible to use these chargers if the phone has plastic/silicon cover?

  • same price from their ebay store

  • These are useless for rounded vents like I have

    • There are mounts designed specifically for round vents like the one that was a part of this previous deal

  • Guys. This charger does not fit iPhone XS Max. The holder is too small to hold big phones. Charging coil found not reach the back of the phone.

  • Been using this for almost a year now with my Note 8 on a Silicon cover. Working perfectly fine so far

Think I must have ordered the last one - showing as sold out.

1 cent extra on their ebay store:

      • Thanks, got one from eBay store. Good way to avoid the sign up process

      • Thanks, got from the eBay store.
