  Had to jump start a couple times lately. Needed 5 min of running the donor car to get it to start. I just can't imagine this thing donating enough charge even if the peak amperage is ok.

    Correct me if I'm wrong. Do you really need to donate your charge before jump starting? I thought it would be starting through the pack since its connected.

      No idea. But usually you have to wait a few minutes before the car will turn over.

        Hmm. Just comparing to jump starting with a car. I jump started the said car with my newer car and I'm sure the corolla is flat but didn't even hook it on for 30 seconds and it started.

    Most likely you have
    1. a bad connection on battery terminals- one or both (remove both terminals, clean and lightly coat with vasiline) Google how to clean battery terminals
    2. Low quality or crook jumper leads.

    Decent connection from a decent battery should start a car, even if it has a dead battery.

    I doubt you're doing it right.

    Jump starting isn't supposed to charge the battery, just to give enough juice to crank the starter.
