Anyone see any around Sydney region?

    • +1

I too, need one in Sydney.

      • +1

        Me 3

    • It was on sale back in October/November in Sydney. Looks like they just shifted the remaining stock to VIC.

Every man needs a torque wrench, last thing you want to do is to overtighten your nuts

    • +1

      Especially when you get married

      • +11

Most are kept safe, in her handbag.

      • +3

Nah thats a vice grip when you get married

        • A bistoury rather …

      • Lol, that’s a good one

  • +19

This deal will get everyone torquing.

    • +17

      Torque is cheap!

      • +5

        All torque but no action.

  • Shit that's actually a decent model. Bought that exact same one from one of the car shops around a few years back for a helluva lot more.

  • +1

Hoping Brissie has some. Need to torque my (car) nuts.

  • Can I use this for my bike? Or does the bike require one with a different torque range?

    • -1

      Check the (motorbike) manual

    • +8

Needs to be much lower for a bicycle.
Mine is 2NM to 24NM torque range.

    • Two clicks of the wrist. Job done.

    • +2

      Useless for any carbon components.

  • Great deal, hopefully some available in Sydney.

I bought one of these last time Aldi had them, and I can highly recommend. Tested it against my old wrench, and it matched the settings pretty much perfectly.

They also had small ones last time, but I missed out on one, would love it if they came around again.

  • I also bought it on one of the previous sales in Aldi - at least the box looks identical - and it was made in Germany actually. Very decent quality.

Remember to store your torque wrench at the lowest possible non-zero setting

    • +3

      Too much to remember… Pass.

    • +3

Oh does it have to be non-zero? I dialled mine all the way back to zero…

      • +1

Yeah it's to ensure the ball bearing inside the wrench is not free to move around

        • Got it, and it did say to dial it back to 60NM after use. Hopefully I didn't kill it.

Does someone have a calculator that can convert this to ugga duggas ?

    • +5

      1 Ugga = 1.6 Fappa

      • +1

        Can confirm.

    • +1

My previous wheel/tyre supplier used to use all of them.

  • That is cheap

  • +1

Not sure where the 28-210Nm spec came from but they are actually 60-210. Maybe it only changed on the last lot?

    • +2

The one I bought from Aldi over a year ago is 28-210Nm but yeah the OP’s photo shows 60-210Nm on this one

  • Al di torque is cheap

  • I can't find the 10mm socket version.

    • You can use other 0.5" drive sockets with this, or use 3/8" drive adaptor.

  • To test these properly you will need to place a weight at about 1 foot from the centre of the socket spindle….might have to convert nm to kgs per feet. And in needs to be tested over a range of settings to see if it is 'in spec'…..i have a 30 yr old cheapy like this and it varies wildly depending on the setting. I now always double check it by hanging a bucket from the notch on the handle (1ft) with the required weight to check im torquing to the required need….not much fun snapping bolts or having a head gasket not torqued correctly

I got a $120 one from Repco last November when they had a special, I got it for $30 :)
    they are now $99 :(

Supercheap has a torque wrench for $50 plus $10 delivery

  • Have been trying to get the 32mm , apparently not so common.

  • All gone

  • They had some at Aldi Glen Waverley yesterday too.

    • None of these or anything similar at Hampton Park or Lyndhurst.

  • I got this torque wrench yesterday, but was surprised (more like didn't read and Ozbargained) that this only goes from 60-210Nm rather than 28-210Nm. Bunnings have a torque wrench that goes from 28-210Nm for like $30.

Not sure if I should return this and pay more for a wrench with more range, or just keep this since 60-210Nm would be more accurate with closer range (I have no idea about torque wenches), then get a 1/4" wrench for smaller bolts?

    • Yeah good point! The picture in this post actually aligns to what you are saying (60-210Nm), so the description in the post is incorrect! Please update post OP!

  • Sorry silly question, but do you need a separate display to read the torque figure or is there a garage on the wench itself?
