LG 38WK95C-W

I have been looking to buy a 38" ultrawide and going by past prices this is a good price. It is normally sold around $1450-$1600 and although only $150 off, was last at this price 4 months ago. Also, first post :)

  • 60hz native - FreeSync (52Hz-75Hz)
  • UWQHD+ resolution (3840 1600)
  • IPS panel with 1000:1 native contrast
  • 38 Inch Curved Display
  • Vesa Mountable (100 by 100)
  • sRGB 99%
  • 3 Year warranty

From reviews this is a well rated monitor.

Good monitor I’ve got one. Wish I paid $1299 for it

    • Ahh, how much did you buy yours for? Also, having used the monitor, could you comment on your general experience with it? Although it is not a "gaming" monitor, have you gamed on it at all, how was it?
      cheers

      • I got one the day they released it for $2400? I think. I had a 34 AOC before this and the LG makes it feel small. So much better for productivity than 2 monitors. I didn't do much gaming on it at all but it's the perfect size IMO as the 40 inch monitors are too high and hurt my neck.

      • $1550, so not too bad. I haven’t really gamed on it. Colours are good, but it’s not super bright. Size wise it’s great. I did look at the 49” as well but they’re actually narrower vertically. All in all I’m happy as I use it for productivity

      • I'd be a bit concerned about games supporting that resolution (3840x1600).

        • From the reading ive done in various forums, you can typically find a mod if there is no native ultrawide support, however this seems to be becoming less of an issue nowadays. But yes, definitely something to keep in mind.

  • Is this worth it when you can get an lg monitor with higher refresh rates at a third of the price? Its not ultrawide but just some food for thought

There's also the Samsung ultrawide with higher refresh rates va panel and $300 cheaper.

    • I think it comes down to personal preference, for me i hands down prefer an ultrawide over multiple 16by9 monitors, and unfortunately have to pay a bit of a premium for it. Definitely getting much better specs though on the 16by9 at a much better price :( Also, the samsung one is 34", this LG is 38".

    • Depends on what you are using it for.

IPS and a wider display are geared more towards professional use due to the accurate colour display and better viewing angles.
VA is generally better for gaming due to response times, contrast and higher refresh rates.

People who do both tend to go for IPS as it still has alright response times, refresh rates and contrast.

    • For gaming? Nope. For productivity? Yes it is. This is a 1600p monitor, and vertical pixels make a big difference there.

If you're not in a rush and would like to save a few more dollars, you could wait for the next Computer Alliance 20% off ebay sale. Last time that brought these down from $1500 to $1200. Being listed at $50 less now they would come down to $1160.

  • I bought this back in July 2018 for $1,650 - thought it was a great deal. Great monitor! Have mine mounted on an arm to have the floating effect.

    • Sounds cool, do you have a picture?

  • Has anyone overclocked one of these? Can I get it to 100Hz maybe?
