I like the intro whoever wrote that.

"Australians are a funny bunch. We pride ourselves on our individuality and our stoicism under pressure, yet whenever there's a disaster we often pull together to help each other and our communities"

Waiting for people to say they should be giving more than $200..

They should be giving more than $200.

      • +1

        $200.05 ?

        • +6

          $200 is still pretty nice

      • Still a good gesture.

Way better than a bloody burrito

        • +4

Burrito shops probably find it pretty hard to give out energy bill credits hey

          • @jason07: I dont disagree haha

But the way they handled their PR (Guzman and gomez) it was an absolute disgrace

    • Well they actually are if you read the tittle !

    • I think the thoughts and prayers from Morrison was more than adequate.

      • +1

It worked didn't it? Now they've got free burritos and power bill credits.

Dear businesses who are trying to take advantage of free marketing during this crisis, this is an example of a nice thing to do.

    • Depends if you possess the will and skills of the person wearing the uniform

      • I'm pretty good with a garden hose pretty much same thing yeah?

        • Off you go, ill donate you a toy firetruck

@trombocwell said. Makes me wanna move to alinta.

  • For all those who are eligible to receive the assistance but aren't with Alinta, keep an eye out for your own retailer to make a similar announcement.

As I believe more retailers will be making this assistantce available to their customers in the coming days.

  • The private electricity sector ripped off every household and and every business for over two decades, causing the economy to be "severely damaged" according to Rodney Sims.

I'm sure the firefighters would rather this business didn't exist along with the rest of the private electricity sector like most Australians.

Any privatisation ends up ripping off Australians, that's what privatisation is for after all.

    • Power in my state isn't privately owned. It's owned by the state government.

Not sure how they could issue an accurate electricity bill if your house has burned down?

    • +1

smart meters communicate readings back every 30 minutes. They'd probably estimate the account based on same period previous years for an old clunker meter

      • +2

Then they will charge you $350+ to have the electricity reconnected if you rebuild

        • How do you know?

And if they do it will be covered by your insurance.

    • If you have a smart meter they will know the last reading.

But they don't need to know an accurate amount when they are waiving your bill. They will just set your account to be at a $0 balance.

  • I suggest that admin group all these posts together so that these offers are easy to find
