      You okay friend?

      • -4

        Fine, and you?

    • +3

They've been advocating for the environment, doing charity stuff for at least 20-30 years. I did a case study for them in Uni back in…a long time ago when flip phones were fashionable.

  • +5

Thought we had legalised pot for a moment..

    • +1

Nah, that free cone day is 6 days later.

  • +4

I'm surprised they have not attached a political agenda to their offering this time. We know it didn't work in their favour last time. LOL!

Yep. Ben and Jerry's never again, and not for that deal but the one cash back visa one.

    • +1

      They are cucks

  • Available at participating scoop shops only

    So which stores?

  • Link doesn't link to deal

    • If you check the revision history you'll see that it linked to the announcement originally and a moderator changed it. There are very specific rules about linking here.

      • Except there is no real announcement as it's 98 days away. Only Melbourne puts these probably correct announcements for SEO purposes. I've now linked to the Ben and Jerry's homepage as to not confuse anyone.

And before the pedantic chime in with unverified deal, they've been giving away free ice cream for 10 years in Australia and decades in the US.

        • Thanks for clarifying! I had assumed it was similar to how cashback deals work where you link the cashback offer in the description and the store itself in the deal itself.

          • +4

@Clear: i guess this sets a precedent that deals can stay up even without a direct link to the deal from the company supposedly offering the deal, as long as we link to a blog site in the description.

or we could all, i dont know, wait for an official announcement from the official website? especially considering this deal is 4 months away

            • +1

@belongsinforums: As your username suggests it 'belongsinforums' until its confirmed. Even then its 98 days away, must be a record for posting deal so early

              • -1

@bghunter: some posters get special privileges

              • @bghunter: Incorrect. It's a deal based on evidence of previous occurrence. As before, they give out ice cream every year for the past 10 years and longer overseas.

However it would be better for OP to post the deal closer to the date so A) There is a link but more importantly B) People can remember it's on without relying on reminders from months ago. But that's just a suggestion.

                • @neil: Can i post the same deal for 2021 since its a deal based on evidence of previous occurence? :)

                  • @bghunter: And this is how new guidelines are created…

                    • +1

@neil: From people finding loopholes in what wouldn’t be a problem unless they purposely went looking for loopholes?

                      • @SlappersOnly: Well OzBargainers are naturally on the lookout for loopholes to get discounts/freebies so not a suprise that it extends to using OzBargain. Referrals are a good example.

  • +5

    I haven't eaten Ben and Jerry's since this debacle….

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/456951

… and I doubt it will change, even if free.

    • +6

wow someone emailed 63 times to get their cashback from that deal. scummy of ben and jerrys for sure. if you advertise a deal, you have to go through with it. its the law in australia

    • +2

Yeah, that was a true shit show

  • +1

Man, that is flagrant false advertising!

  • +5

last 2 ben and jerrys deals had 20+ unrevoked negs each. one for failing to deliver said cashback to many ozbargainers, and one for offering free ice cream for anyone who pledged to vote for a particular political party, even though their business relies on cows cooped up farting all day and being the no. 1 contributor of greenhouse gases. ozbargain is quick to forget.

    • Wasn’t it about climate change? That’s not pledging to vote for a particular party. That’s pledging to support climate change, or giving away your integrity for a free scoop of ice cream I guess.

      • -3

it implies the greens party, obviously

        • +1

Does it? I thought it was you that implied it.

    • cows cooped up farting all day and being the no. 1 contributor of greenhouse gases

That’s not true for either the U.S. or Aus. In both countries energy production is responsible for more than twice the amount of greenhouse gases produced by the entire agriculture sector let alone dairy production.

      • okay im looking for sources to prove or disprove the cattle claim. every single source i look at quotes different figures and numbers. i think what i should have said is that cows are the biggest producer of methane.

        • Whilst cattle are a methane concern the claim about them being the biggest methane producer is also not true.
As far as I am aware wetlands are the greatest single source of methane production. Depending on which source you believe the greatest human production of methane comes from either the energy sector or the entire agriculture sector which includes all livestock, cropping and rice paddies not just cattle. Some sources try to skew the data and include landfill with the agriculture sector.

And no, I didn’t neg you.

    World Free Cone Day

We are talking about ice cream aren't we?

  • Waiting

  • Isn't free cone day April 20 in the US?

  • +3

What about Boxing Day specials ?

  • -8

Not a bargain if you factor in the 90 minutes you have to queue for a single scoop.

    • True, I was in surfer paradise last year during Ben & Jerry Free Cone Day and the queue was unreal (atleast over an hr wait). Went to Basker and Robbins instead down the road.

  • +1

    obligatory blaze it

  • +4

If only you'd given us more notice…

  • That is a long way.

  • +4

Why not post up Boxing day sale deals for 2035? Stupid to post a deal up so early.

    • Boxing day sales are usually a massive let down though.

      You can set a reminder.

  • I'm here for the 420 comments

  • 97 days!!?!!
We still have to survive the bushfires then possibly WWIII if Trump has his way?!?
Fingers crossed we make it to enjoy this deal! :)

  • I will have to go after work - will there be any ice cream left by 6pm?

  • +1

This is a good deal until you go there and see a queue of people fifty meters long.
