AVerMedia HD HomeFree AV Plus F210 Network TV Tuner $129 + Postage

80

Cheapest price on shopbot is $163 plus postage http://tinyurl.com/3eaha43

I've had my eye on this device since it got released earlier this year…

It is a TV tuner than connects to your network and streams to PCs and iPad via lan or wifi…
This version also allows another device to be used as input eg. Foxtel or DVD player…
2 users can view 2 difference sources simultaneously…

It has been retailing for around $200-$210 but it looks like the RRP has just dropped to $169

ExpressPCParts have the cheapest price I can find… $129 + $12 postage + $3.40 insurance (for Melbourne)

Just added to the description that

  • This is like a Slingbox?

    • +1

not sure if it could work across the internet…

it's primary purpose appears to be to stream TV and video through your home network… it has a built in HD tuner…

i was going to get a tuner card for my PC, but this suits me better as i can put the Avermedia in a location to get the best reception and stream to any pc or iPad on my lan. can also distribute my foxtel now without having to by a video transmitter…

      • Yeah I was having a read and came to a similar conclusion… doesn't look like it's built to compress streams for the internet.

  • can this be used like a slingbox?

EDIT: haha binscab beat me to it by seconds….

    • it could be, but will be complicated to setup, including compressing the streams and using a VPN. better off buying a slingbox if you want to access from anywhere via the net..

  • You will want to look at the hdhomerun which has excellent support for most all PVR software, in comparison I'm struggling to see any support for the avermedia device other than windows media center or a paid app in the apple app store.

that one appears to only do one channel though…

i want to be able to stream tv on one device and watch a foxtel channel on the other…

    • -1

      hdhomerun.com.au

does it support a second input source ??? Foxtel, dvd, blueray for streaming though ???

that's why i posted the AV Plus model

Avermedia also do a simpler model that only streams TV, but that is not what i was looking for…

  • no hdmi, just composite and svid.

    • +1

the TV tuner signal is 1080p…

  • Hey all, do we know, compatible with MAC?

    • -1

      unfortunately, i don't think it will… not natively anyway…

the client application to display the stream looks like it only runs on Windows…

it may work if you run a Windows emulator though ???
