Edifier 855 BT Bluetooth Wireless Headphones 50% off $75 Delivered (was $149.99) @ Edifier's Official Website

210

I was looking for wireless headphones with an option of being able to use them wired and found this deal on Edifier's official website. There is another deal for TaoTronics BH-046 posted on ozbargain. I wanted some suggestions to choose one of these headphones and couldn't find any post for this deal so posting it here if this can help someone. I am looking something just for home use, watching movies or some music while working on my computer and volume should be high enough, usually i found that volume is not high enough for cheaper headphones and sound quality should be fair.

I got a pair of these on Monday.

Definitive Technology Symphony 1 Bluetooth Headset $129 down from 399.95 however I did see them for $249 a few weeks ago in EB.

Not bad for the price they seem to have better ANC and sound then my set of Plantronics Backbeat Pro 2s which IMO is still a good set of headphones.

Thanks, I just purchased a pair of DT S1 from EB. That's a good price considering the original RRP. There's a lot of good reviews for these.

Enjoy… If your going to pair them with an android phone with a qualcomm processor this will work with AptX.

        • +1

Yes, I have Android/Qualcomm. My girlfriend has Bose QC35 and I was suprised to find find they don't support Aptx so looking forward to finally getting to try it out on the DT S1's. Cheers.

    • Hmm I'm assuming they don't do surround or anything like that? I need a Bluetooth set for my lounge when the Mrs is asleep…

    • Kinda tempted to grab a set. Interesting that can use as a USB audio device and bypass the crappy DAC on laptops if not using wirelessly.

      Comfortable? Pretty hefty at 540g.

    • Hey mate, how does the bass compare between the Symphony 1 and Backbeat Pro 2?

And would you say they are significantly better, or just a bit better? ie. Worth chasing down a pair if you already have Backbeat Pro 2, or just marginally better and not really worth the upgrade if you have the Backbeats already.

OP I wrote some Notes on the different Edifier models it may help with your decision.

    Also the cups rotate & fold-flat on the W830BT & W860NB.

    • Thanks

Also if you look at the FR graphs I posted in this comment.

The W855BT clearly has sub-bass where the W830BT misses out on that area, so W855BT would be better for movies I think.

        W855BT goes down to 20Hz.
While W830BT rolls off quite early.

        • I am not familiar with these technical things but what I understand is that 855BT is better for movies. right?

          • @sidozziee: Yes it hits the low-low bass for movies (like explosions / space ships etc).

            • @thebadmachine: I see. Thanks for the information. From whatever feedback I have got, i understand that Edifier 855BT is clearly a better choice than TaoTronics one.

              • @sidozziee: Taotronics I have heard great things about the Noise-cancelling & sound for music for its price.

But I think Edifier W855BT is the more premium headphone, according to specs and original pricing.

                • @thebadmachine: Ok I guess I should go for Edifier and buy a longer wire to use with computer if needed and if it works well wireless for movies, that will be a bonus.

                  • @sidozziee:

if it works well wireless for movies, that will be a bonus.

                    Yes.

Only a few wireless options in this price-range. And I think Edifier is a good choice, I posted that past deal myself.
If you go wired only, you have more options. But I think you were looking for both wireless & wired in one headphone.

  • I have owned a few Edifier products over the years (mostly PC speakers) and have to say the quality is always really good. I would definitely pull the trigger on these but I recently just bought headphones.

  • Can these be connected to two devices at once, say laptop and phone and switch between them depending whichever is active?

    • +1

Yes, though there's audio stutter if both devices are active at the same time. The instruction manual also recommends switching it to single device mode if only one device will be used.

      • Thanks. I don't plan to use both at once. More like if I'm on the laptop and someone calls my phone, I need to switch without having to toggle manually

    • +1

I received mine yesterday and have been trying to connect them to my laptop and mobile. Seems to me you can't connect them to two devices at once.
Update: Sorry just found this in manual

The headphone can connect with two Bluetooth devices at the same time. The operation is as below.1. Firstly make the headphone pair with the first device. 2. Re-start the headphone. Enter the pairing mode and pair with the second device. 3. Select connecting with the headphone from the first device. The headphone has already connected with the first and second device; or automatically connect the two devices after the headphone re-start.

  • I’m looking for a wireless headphone for gaming and movies. It’s mainly be used at night so loud sounds doesn’t wake up the little one while asleep. Would this be good for my usage? Cheers

    • +1

They're closed back which prevents sound leak to a degree and I haven't experienced any noticable latency so they should be good.

      • Thanks. that helped a lot and i have ordered one as me too, mainly need it for movies.

      • I should have asked if this thing can connect to ps4 via bluetooth?

        • I don't own a PS4 so I can't confirm that for you, sorry. From what I can see, most bluetooth headphones aren't natively supported on PS4 and require an adapter. That probably rules out this pair.

      • Received mine today and checked with my mobile and very old 2012 Dell XPS laptop that supports Bluetooth 3 I guess but movies are working fine without any latency. I have checked even with action scenes of death race, still working great.

  • These are great… if you like having your head crushed! The most UNCOMFORTABLE headphones I've ever had. Wore it once, now it's collecting dust in the drawer. Complete waste of money.

    • Try stretching out the headband by keeping them on a foam block for a few weeks.

    • Is it the headphone..or your oversized melon?
