Bonus 20,000 Telstra Plus Points for New Month-to-Month Plan (on Top of Existing Bonus Points, E.g. Medium Plan - 60,000 Bonus)

Hi all. Just changed my 24 month Telstra contract to a BYO phone; month to month contract and saw they are offering 20,000 bonus Telstra Plus bonus points on top of the existing bonus points.

E.g. Medium ($60) plan offers 40,000 Telstra Plus points, plus an additional 20,000 bonus points for a total of 60,000. Which could get you 8 google nest minis (with current discount) or a pair of Galaxy Buds if they were in stock.

Note: This is a no lock in contract, so you are not locked in for more than one month.

  • I see many of you are signing up via chat - but doesn't the terms for bonus point say "online" signup? What is the chance that Telstra may not give bonus 20000 points since signup happened via chat?

    I also read T&C and it says 40000 etc points could take upto 30 business days. Knowing how lethargic their Plus team is, will have to be prepared to wait 6 calendar weeks for points to appear :(

      Signing up via chat still require you to sign up online as usual.

      Make sure you get the telstra chat person to confirm you are eligible for the $30 discount first. Once that happens, you sign up online and you will need to provide the order number for them to add the discount from their back end.

        Hmm that’s not how I did it. Signed up through the chat. However it’s written in my agreement that I am receiving 70,000 points and $30 off for my first 3 months. Have the chat saved. So even if they don’t auto pop in I will certainly be getting them.

  • Signed up to new service via chat (not online). He said he will submit a form for the additional 20,000 points. So total 60,000 points for Medium plan and $30 credit for first 3 months.
    I had not realized this earlier - their new SIM only plans do not include international calling (it's $10 more add-on).
    He said the points will be added within 7 days of SIM activation and I absolutely do not believe that will be the case.

  • Anyone heard anything? Nothing since my order placed. When I log into track order it shows no info.

    He also asked for a delivery address for my eSIM (which doesn’t fill me with much confidence!)

      • For whatever reason, you get sent a physical QR code from what I can tell.

  • Switched from an expired plan onto the Medium ($60) plan. Told a livechat consultant that I knew of others getting the $30 discount… she said it's only for new numbers/port-ins. I said that's disappointing and was I eligible for any other discounts? She then came back to me saying she will apply the $30 for 3mths discount for me as a goodwill gesture…… but they would need to do it as a lump sum of $90?!?!? So I'm apparently going to get a $90 credit next bill. A win in my book!

  • I signed up to sim only plan at the end of December but did not take note whether Telstra were offering bonus points at the time.

    Can anyone confirm if Telstra were providing a different bonus points offer for sim only plans in December or was it no points at all?
    I have not seen any points in my account so assuming the latter.

  • The bonus points are not on the Telstra site anymore. I am talking with chat, but it disappeared.

      • No. The rep asked me for the link, then told me the link didn’t mention about the bonus points. So I checked again, refreshed the page, it’s gone.

  • Just to let you know that I signed up this morning. The telstra chat guy was surprised I managed to land those bonus points. It seems like they're trying to end the offer.

    Telstra guy said if I had signed up via the chat, he wouldn't have been able to give me the bonus points.

    However he said that if I had managed to get the points listed on my screen by proceeding with the order, then I'm sorted and should just proceed with the order. Did precisely that. Confirmed at the order confirmation at the end. Telstra guy confirms they'll hit my account.

    Also $30 credit for 3 months.

    • How did they add the $30 x 3 credit to your account? After you’ve completed your online order, or they processed it for you first?

      • Chat with them to ensure your eligibility for the credit. Then they will ask you to complete the online order, and give them the order number. They will apply the credits on their back end.

    • What do you mean when he said he wouldn't have given you the points if you'd signed up via chat?

  • I try to get the deal on chat but agent mentioned this extra points deal is over. He did offered $30 discount for three months.

  • Confirmed this still works, if you talk to the right agent!
    I was on 24month 15gb for 59$ plan.

    • Went into the Telstra Plus App to do this whole thing.
    • App took me to the telstra website, prompted me to choose a new plan.
    • Chose the "Medium Mobile Plan" 60GB for $60p/m,
    • Ensured it said Bonus 20k+40k Points at the bottom,
    • Got the confirmation and order number. Did all of these while chatting with the agent.

    He initially offered me 15k points for porting over to the 60gb plan, but I was not to be trifled with.

    Best of luck to whoever else is trying to secure the deal, do get it done ASAP

    Thanks OP, just transferred to M2M from a 24 month plan via live chat and was eligible for the 60k points, will wait until the points are credited and then will port out.

    They're being harsh on the credit now, confirmed as being new customers only, existing users get no credits.

    Ok so I called up and they offered me $30 off for three months BUT not the bonus points.
    So I went online and chatted to rep. They said the $30 off for three months ends TODAY and is automatically applied for new plans, port in customers or prepaid to post. No code or action required. He also said there was no bonus points however when I add the plan to cart I can see 60k bonus points for signing up to $60 plan. I asked rep why he said no bonus points when I can see them and he said then it will be applied, and to save my chat transcript in case the $30 off is not automatically applied. I have saved the chat and taken a screenshot and signed up. I need a plan to move onto staff plan where I get a FREE service but I figured bonus points wouldn't hurt before this required step to make my number a post paid plan (before moving to free staff plan).
    So the 40k bonus may end today !! Just FYI!

    • Thanks, I did the same thing. I was told that I could no longer get the points but I said it was still available online. She said to order online and she would apply $30 credit after I've ported over.

  • My SIM has been activated but nothing actually arrived. I requested an eSIM so don’t know how I should have received this? (No email received from Telstra other than the CIS)

  • Still working, said I'd get 60k bonus points for adding a new $60 MTM plan to my service. I couldn't be bothered stuffing around for $10 less tbh

  • Anyone received their bonus points yet? Had the sim arrive and activated. Just wondering how long it will be before points start dropping. Not holding my breath, given my direct debit ones still haven’t come through.

        Was advised that too but I was also advised the direct debit ones would come after 14 days. 2 months later and still haven’t arrived. Anyone who does receive them, please post when you do.

    • It me over a month to get my first lot of bonus points for the DD so don’t be holding your breath for them to come quickly.

      • I’m at well over a month now lol. Signed up the day the offer appeared on oxbargain. After multiple chats they swear to me they will be in there by Feb 4.

    I spoke with them and was advised it will take seven days from the day your number activated/moved.

    • It’ll take longer than that, my last bonus lot took about 5 weeks and when you make a payment it takes at least two weeks usually for them to show. My friend is also transferring points to me, that request was done on 14/1, still waiting for that to happen.

    Anyone got a screenshot of the original offer? Telstra (surprise surprise) are saying they know nothing of such an offer! I have the cat transcript but would be good to have a screenshot too

    • they are very sneaky, I just contacted them and they said NO SUCH THING about Bonus points!!! also asked me to provide the website as proof … which they already altered by removing bonus points. looks like I am going to pull this off and pay them nah nah

      • As tagin said, if you look through your emails from Telstra when taking up the plan, you'll find an email with included extras.

        They can't really argue with mine when I have that in a Telstra email.

        • No email that mentions the points. All I have is the chat transcript.

          I imagine they'll continue to make this drawn out and painful - which is annoying as I want to cancel the service as soon as the points drop!

          • @tagin: Purchased through chat to get the extra $30 and chat agent said I would get 70k points. Have the chat transcript but a screenshot of the offer would help

    • I have a screenshot showing the small plan, and a screenshot of the T&Cs showing the offer for all 3 plans. It's probably about as useful as the link ju111ce commented, but let me know if it would help somehow and I can post it.

    No points yet (email states 30 calender days to be credited), yet I have been credited another 50k for direct debit sign up.

    I guess because I moved plans and it's a new account, technically I've activated direct debit for this one now?

    • Did you see the direct debit offer banner on the app? Or was it a surprise for you? Because I have a new telstra account for my wife, but don’t see any banner.

        Originally never got the banner in the app, but received a notification from the app for the offer.
        Second round of 50k DD points there was no indication at all. Nice little bonus surprise.

      • Have you tried clicking on a plan and seeing what happens? The bonus points came up for me as well. It’s supposed to be on offer until 17/2 if you read the T&C’s.

  • Anyway, supposed to get 60k pts but managed to get … 50K pts just hour ago after 2 days of fighting with their chat support (changed plan on 23rd JAN), claimed x3 Google Nest Mini Bundles. Wonder should I change the month to month plan now to a prepaid, especially it tells me I still have 2 days left with this current billing cycle?
    Update: looks like the 50k is another direct debit bonus, which is a surprise as I got 50K for that sign up prior changing postpaid plan to month-to-month already. oh well, not my fault, and now should wait till 60K pts come and claim then bye bye Telstra

    Anyone that gets there points can you please post when you signed up and when you received points and if you had to jump through hoops to get them, especially if you swapped over from a monthly plan to month to month.

    • Still haven’t received mine. Now chat claims 15th of feb. and I was denied my direct debit ones as they said I wasn’t eligible even though I was told numerous times I was. Not happy.

  • I've just spoken with chat since no bonus points came through. Ported from Vodafone on 22 Jan. They said I'm eligible and will raise a dispute to have it processed within 48 hours. Really annoying that the chat transcript censors out the reference confirmation number before I had a chance to copy and paste it though. Hopefully this works.

    • Same here, even a simple points transfer been delayed and "escalated" for 10 days, let alone the triple escalated bonus points issue. As a first-time Telstra customer I really miss these Indian folks at Vodafone.

  • Anyone else having issues getting Telstra to honour their points? I have chat transcripts with 24/7 where they confirm the points are included. Chased them up today and being told that a mistake was made and it only applies to new device plans although that was not my impression when I signed up and the chat consultant made it very clear that points were included, so I signed up.

    • They are giving me the same excuse! Saying that its only for device plans when I have screenshots and chat transcripts clearly showing the offer was for month-to-month sim only plans

    • When you signed up for new plan, didn’t you get order confirmation email? It says in order confirmation email regarding how many bonus points you would get.
      I came out from 24 months contract and upgraded to new plan month to month and I received 50K bonus points. I did receive email though, saying I will get 50k points when I upgraded.

  • It seems the t&c linked in the original post have changed. Does anyone have a copy of the original t&c’s?

    • I’d like this too. I’m certain the original deal was byo sim month to month deal as originally posted in this deal. I went though signing up with chat rep who never said anything about getting a new device. I’ll bet this is because the rep also believed that the deal was byo sim. Now they’ve changed their t&c and I’m on a more expensive plan than I was and the best excuse they can give is that the addition of points is system generated therefore it cannot be overridden.

      • You're correct, the original deal was month to month sim only but now they are trying to say to me that its only for a mobile plan.

    • Doesn't it say on your confirmation email? It shows the bonus points on mine with my month to month sim plan. They can't really refute that.

  • I signed up on 20/01/2020, just got on live chat about it and they did a run around about needing a mobile plan (I got the $60 BYO plan transferring from a Telstra Mobile Plan). After a while the operator mentioned that my account says the points will be credited on 20/02 as it's 14 days after the system picked up the order on 01/02 which seems odd. They said "I will guarantee your points will be provided on that date", will have to wait and see.

    So for those still waiting, might be best to confirm over chat if there's a date in the system for which the points will be credited, which should be soon.

    So I'm getting very conflicting advice. My dispute has been given to a case manager who'll contact me by 28 February re 60k points. I talked with chat who said that I would be eligible if I signed up through the website by my own. I said that the chat representative signed up on behalf of me and asked for authorisation and details which I gave. I questioned why the chat rep would tell me that if it would make me ineligible for the points because I would've been happy to do it online myself. They just told me to wait until I get contacted by the case manager.

    Really not satisfied with this. I had ported over because of the $30 discount and the 60k bonus points. I've got multiple transcripts from multiple chat reps who've maintained I'm eligible for the bonus points. Guess this will be a long journey…

    • I had exactly the same scenario where a complaint was lodged and on last Friday case manager from Telstra Plus team called me and told me that only plan with mobile are eligible for these points. When i told him I have proof as I had taken the screenshots. He asked me to send him those screenshots via email.
      I have sent him all my proof today, now waiting for his response.

    • Im now in the exact same boat! Not happy at all. I’ve been told to wait for my case manager to call me as well, which isn’t until the end of the month.

    I'm still waiting. 3 delays with written guarantees…. Now they've raised it and I should expect a phone call.

    I fking hate them, they've stuffed me around so much lately, last week they added an NBN service to my account out of the blue too!

      Yeah this is shaping up to be a total headache. How long did they say to wait for the call? It's annoying how their Telstra plus team don't have a contact number because half the reps don't know what you're talking about.

          Calling them does nothing. I did so yesterday to try and speed my case up. All they do is say they will send an email to the plus team member investigating and ask them to call me. The plus member has never called me back. And they refuse to give you an email or contact in the plus section directly. It is an absolutely shocking system and so anti consumer. Also why do the even run these promotions and then punish the people trying to sign up to them!?! They really need to be investigated for bait and switch tactics, because they make it so hard to get what you were promised from the start and signed up based upon.

          • @dwhes: Guaranteed they hope people forget…. I cancelled 2 plans early to get these on 3 if my services simultaneously… No way I'm not pushing.

            • @scuderiarmani: I also called yesterday and was firmly told to just wait for the case manager as there's nothing they can do about it since it was online.

              I just had another chat with an online rep and they've once again told me that I'm eligible and they will raise for the points to be added and it should be deposited by the next billing cycle. I can't even be assured that this will happen honestly…

  • Holy crap a case manager actually called me back from the points team! They reviewed my screenshots and chats and have applied the points to my account! They are in there now. Finally they have come through with what we promised! Keep pushing guys and make sure you send through a screenshot of the initial promotion you signed up for and your Telstra chat record.

    • Oh wow, did you have to send through the screenshots and chat while on the phone or did you do that beforehand? I hope they call soon.

      What screenshot did you have? I didn't manage to get one of the bonus 60k points one

      • I did it while on the phone. I had a screenshot of the order page with the click box for the $80 large plan and the listed 20k and 50k bonus points underneath it.
