Bonus 20,000 Telstra Plus Points for New Month-to-Month Plan (on Top of Existing Bonus Points, E.g. Medium Plan - 60,000 Bonus)

771

Hi all. Just changed my 24 month Telstra contract to a BYO phone; month to month contract and saw they are offering 20,000 bonus Telstra Plus bonus points on top of the existing bonus points.

E.g. Medium ($60) plan offers 40,000 Telstra Plus points, plus an additional 20,000 bonus points for a total of 60,000. Which could get you 8 google nest minis (with current discount) or a pair of Galaxy Buds if they were in stock.

Note: This is a no lock in contract, so you are not locked in for more than one month.

More information/terms and conditions in the following links:

Mod Note: Offer extended to 30th March 2020

Yeah, but then you're paying $60 for an average phone plan in 2020…

    • +3

it's month to month, of course you'd move on once you get your points

      • up to 30 days to get the points so worse case scenario two months on the plan.

      • Fair enough. That is provided there is anything worth redeeming with those points you've now paid good money for, of course…

  • 5G network access free trial

until 30 June 2020, then opt in for $15/month

Say what !!!!!!…. That's for the small or medium.

    • +2

Yeah it's a hefty premium for 5G access, might as well go with the bigger plans which have that included.

      • +5

That's exactly what they want you to do.

      • I still don't understand this. I read something similar after they started to roll out 5g and I bought my Note 10+ and I can confirm! I haven't opted into anything and I already receive 5g on my phone and I've speed tested to confirm - IT'S QUICK!

I can only assume my 12m plan must already include it. shrugs

        • I think it's free for everyone up until July or something, I am sure I read that when it first launched.

        • You get 5G included until June 2020 then you have to pay $15 a month to get it.

        • How's the cancers?

    • It runs out just in time for Apple to launch their first 5g devices in September.

  • Not really worth the point for paying inflated prices tho

    • +3

Assuming you go for $60 plan for 2 months = $120 and you get 60,000 points. With 60,000 points you are able to redeem 2 Harman Kardon Neo Speakers which is selling for $140-$150 each online. I don't understand your logic on how this is not worth it. Not to mention, you get to use a phone plan for 2 months on top of the 2 speakers.

        • +3

Read the title mate and the link. Its a month to month plan!

        • +1

This is month to month. You are not locked in anything.

      • -3

Who would pay$140 for those speakers tho

        • I am not asking anyone to pay $140 for the speaker. I am stating the facts here which it is being sold at $140 at present.

      • +1

The month to month plans are pro rata. So if it’s up to 30 days you’d be paying 1 month maximum.

        • Makes it even more lucrative then…

    • Good deal if you were about to start a new plan anyway.

  • Not sure if this can be combine with the $10 discount bonus code ONLINE10MOBILE24

    • +1

Seems to allow it to be added.

      $60 Month to month
      Bonus 40k Telstra Plus points
      Bonus 20k Telstra Plus points
$10 per month discount for 24 months

      • The code worked for me but when i submitted it, my order failed.
Not sure why.. if it's the code or something else

    • +1

The promo code ONLINE10MOBILE24 doesn't seem to be valid or has expired.

      Trying to upgrade existing number.

  • I'm on a couple of the JB contracts ending in June.

Is it possible to switch to month to month now through the online chat?

    • +2

Try it and let us know…

      • My contract finishes in 2 months. Just got on live chat and paid the cancellation fee and switched to month to month after confirmation that i will receive 60k points even being an existing customer. Its advance billing so ull have to pay 60 upfront once established.

Edit. I was told in chat that deal will finish by 20th unless cancelled earlier.

        • Of Jan? It says Feb 17 in Ts & Cs.

    • I'm (was) on the Jb HiFi plan till Oct.
Out of curiosity I jumped on the telstra Site, found an 'upgrade my plan' option that allowed me to switch to the $60 M2M telstra plan with the bonus 60k points, but the 'one off' fee listed $0.
I received my final Jb HiFi plan bill and it was all of $2 (just paid a bill by direct debit for which I got 50k points).

      All seems sweet, no ETC.

      • Interested to know if you actually get the 60,000 points as another poster said they were told it didn’t apply for when changing from JB to Telstra.

        • Should do, as one of the emails sent to me while processing my order lists

          Your discounts
          * Bonus 40k Telstra Plus points
          * Bonus 20k Telstra Plus points
          * Total discounts over the 1 month term $0

A progress report of my order is:

          Add 5G Network Access
          Add Mobile Plan Medium
          Add Mobile Plans 06-2019
          Add Modify Order Indicator
          Add Plan Contract Cancellation Waiver
Remove 20GB Mobile Data Bonus - Until Recontract
Remove JB Hi-Fi Mobile BYO Plan $65 12 Month
Remove JB Hi-Fi Mobile Plans 09-2018
          Remove Mass Market Offers
          Remove Service Contract 12 Months

          Not sure what the
          * Remove mass market offers
Is though, but have the other email and screenshot of the bonus points offer screen to back me up.

  • There was a similar offer towards the backend of last year (not quite as many points, I think it was only 5000). Took up the offer and two billing cycles later I am yet to receive them.

    • Yeah I'm the same. Chased it up twice and still nothing. I even had an e-mail telling me they'd been credited to my account

    • I asked chat, they said you don't get the bonus points for switching. It's only for new services.

      • What do u mean switching? From another Telstra plan or different provider?

  • Interesting offer, got two numbers on my family plan due to finish up in March.

So no need to port them out?

    • Op didn’t port out.

  • +4

+10K Telstra Plus Loyalty at Launch
    +50K Direct Debit setup
+70K Sign up to new $80 plan with a new dummy number for one month.

    =130K for $80

    =Airpods Pro for $80

    Good deal?

EDIT: EVEN CHEAPER! They will give you a $30 credit on the $80 plan (for first three months). So this means 70,000 points for $50 if you do it for one month. Confirmed via live chat.

    • How’s that work? Automatically when sign up? Or need to ask on chat?

      • +1

asked if they can offer any loyalty bonus

      • They told me it will stack but there is no guarantee I’ll get an invite as it’s up to “the system” wether I get one.

    • where is the 50k DD setup offer? Thanks

    • did their Live chat confirm the DD offer to be applicable to new numbers?

      • not to me - but worth asking.

      • First time I asked live chat they said they weren't aware of any 50K offer for DD. Second time I tried live chat they told me I would get the 50K points for DD (porting from Vodafone). Not sure if this is applicable to all new services, but worth asking to confirm in writing.

    • How do you get the $30 credit? No mention online

      • Live chat

        • New service or changing existing?

        • +1

Awesome going on chat now. Will do exactly the same to get airpods pro for $50 effectively. Or worst case $100 if it takes over a month for them to credit. I’ve already got 60,000 points in my account.

          • +2

@dwhes: Awesome on chat and they said that yep I can have the same 70,000 points and $30 off for 3 months on L plan if I add an additional service to my account.

    • no idea how you got that offer i asked and they gave me $10 a month for 6 months which is not too bad i guess

      • Was that just in the past few days? I was told the $30 credit a month was for new customers only, and the $10 a month offer expired Dec 24th 2019

    • can you explain what +10K Telstra Plus Loyalty at Launch is?

      • i just did live chat and they said their system is down and they can't do any orders atm.

      • When they launced Telstra Plus I believe existing accounts got 10K points as a welcome - something to that effect.

    • +10K Telstra Plus Loyalty at Launch

I believe what you mean to say is 1K-10K points, depending on how long you've been with them and how much you've spent.

      Edit found source:

1000 points for members with less than 5 years continuous tenure with Telstra, 10000 for members with more than 5 years continuous tenure with Telstra

  • hey Op - was the 6 google minis from the 15,000 points deal ??? (2 x minis for 15,000 points???)

  • Does applying for this service conduct a credit check again if you already have an account with Telstra?

    • +1

Have chatted with telstra, credit check is standard process for any plan, and it will slightly affect your credit score.

  • I am out of contract on the jbhifi $45/month deal. Should I get this? Also is the DD bonus guaranteed to be offered? My current plan I didn't get the offer..

    • Rule 1 of dealing with Telstra:

Nothing that isn't them taking money from you is ever guaranteed with Telstra.

  • +1

Still waiting on my 5000pts for moving to month to month before Christmas :/

  • Don't forget Cash back (CR or Shopback both appear to be offering $35 at the moment for BYO/SIM Only).

    • It suggests that’s only on 12 or 24 month plans

  • Found this on the T&Cs,

(if you’re not already a Telstra Plus member).

Excludes existing customers that have Telstra Plus?

    • I interpret it that you need to join Telstra Plus within 30-days of purchasing the plan to get the points (if you’re not already a Telstra Plus member).

      • +1

Just contacted Telstra, eligible for existing Telstra customers.

  • +1

Gah, I would… but I'm still on $42.10 for 70GB + PoM + International Calls/SMS and am just not ready to give that up yet. lol

  • +3

    Just on live chat

The $30 monthly credit for 3 months can be added to medium plan and above

    • how ? i spoke to someone for over an hour and was offered $10 off

      • +2

Must’ve got lucky. I just said a friend got $30 and could I have it. They said yes sure on Medium or higher

        • Was this a new service or changing from existing? I was told that the $30 is for new services only, and that the $10 was a promotion until 24 Dec 2019

          • @steve84: Ah ok. New service. Only got it for the points so will cancel once they land

            • +2

@digitalane: Looks like it depends who you get. Tried chat again and they gave me $30 deal from existing service. Win! I did sign up for large plan though..

    • I got the same $30 offer. I was switching from Prepaid Telstra to postpaid though.

      Part of my chat:

As you are switching from prepaid to postpaid, you are eligible to the $30 discount per month for 3 months. This is if you take Medium Mobile Plan and up.

    • Does anyone know what happens if you leave before the 3 months is up?

      • I got the same thing and the guy confirmed that there was no lock in contract and I can leave anytime I want.

  • Darn I just ported to Boost $240 for 240GB/365day sim yesterday. Oh well… I guess I'll have to find more free Nest Minis another way

  • +3

Good offer, but if you're on a better deal don't be tempted to move, they are just trying to get you to move off legacy plans.

Im on $39/mo for 30GB BYO. I haven't found Telstra offer a better offer for me yet (note I'm a heavy user but I barely use a third of that data limit given the wifi everywhere). I ain't shifting until they try and make me.

    • I agree

    • Same plan here. Moving to these new month to month plans would be a downgrade. I ain't moving until there's something on par or better.

  • Lol ****. I just switched from my expired 24 month Telstra postpaid to Telstra prepaid for 12 months.

    • 20k pts shouldn’t change your mind from that decision. You’re still well ahead.

  • Have they told within how many days the points will be credited to Telstra Plus account?
They are hopelessly slow as if someone is manually adding the points to account. The worst part is the Plus team is backend team so they never talk to customers directly.

    • I think I read 14 days after payment - so don't know when the first bill payment would go through….

    • I just signed up an hour ago and was told 10 days after plan is activated which I’m skeptical about

  • +1

Just signed up with $30 credit on the $60 plan. Noice. Have activated CB with Cash Rewards but not sure if it works if you order via chat?

    • +1

No it won't - mind you I don't think it would work on a month to month anyway - looks like the cash back is for 12/24 month plans - and there's usually a lengthy validation period

      • I can't even see the 12 month Telstra plans, do you have a link?

    • Was it new service or porting? Will they ship the SIM card to you?

      • New service, shipping the SIM
